I received a deep tissue so I knew full well it was going to hurt, but I began to feel relief instantly. If you're going for the relaxation aspect I wouldn't recommend it because the rooms are separated by cloth essentially so you can hear the other clients, but if you just want a good deep massage to work out your knots and are not bothered by the little bit of noise then I would definitely recommend it. **Also, they do direct billing so if you're with Alberta Blue Cross or Great West life you won't have to pay out of your own pocket, just bring in your card and they'll do all the work(This is possibly a direct quote from their website, but it's true so who cares!)

When I arrived, there was one other woman in the waiting area. I filled out my paperwork, went to sit down, and lo and behold, the woman lounging on the couch is my RMT. Briskly asked me if I had been there before, and why I was there (I said general tenseness). Never introduced herself, shoved me into a room and then disappeared for 10 minutes. Once she arrived it was immediately down to business, just started grabbing. And I mean grabbing - it felt like she was just trying to rip the muscles out of my body. I asked her to go lighter and she did, but it was still rough. Instead of being a soothing, relaxing massage, I found myself tensing every time she touched me. I was pulled and pushed and bent and stretched. It was weird. I am not one of those people that really enjoys making small talk, but it was just awkward. After 60 minutes she patted me on the shoulder and said "Okay, all done", and left. Back in the waiting area I found her sprawled on the couch again. I paid my bill, turned around to say thank you to her (because I am a polite person) and she completely ignored me. All in all, not a fun experience. The facility itself was decent, minus the fact that there was only a thin closet door separating my room from the next (I could hear everything). *Update Aug 25, 2014: The manager of this establishment contacted me shortly after my review and explained that my experience was just the result of a bad day and not the norm for this business. I was also offered a discount on my next massage. It was great to hear that they are listening to their clients and that this was just a one off experience.

Parking is an issue if you don't want to pay for the Impark lot next door, but that's nothing unusual for the area. Parking on the street is usually available if you don't mind walking a bit. They are celebrating their 1st year anniversary by having a Hawaiian Month promotion, though other than the sign outside, nothing was Hawaiian. I'm not knocking it, there just wasn't any Hawaiian themed things anywhere. I'd have been tickled if they put plastic cheesy lei on me and gave me a mango juice with an umbrella in it. That would have been enough :-) Massage was excellent. Like... ***** Excellent. Current Hawaiian month special excludes their couples massage because it is already a great deal, and seeing prices at other places I agreed. I booked the couples one, $125 for 60 minutes for 2 people 'relaxation massage'. Dang, that was a good deal. I mentioned to owner Jeanette my back issues and reason for going, she focused on that and my neck cramp I had been suffering with since Monday. Hour long couples massage was very relaxing, combining Swedish massage, deep tissue, therapeutic and whatever she kneaded as she worked from head to toes! Took all the tension out of my neck and shoulders. Like, All of it. I was even a little woozey getting up because my heart rate was so low from being nearly asleep the whole time. Awesome. Worked on my sore back, I felt much better after. I came in stooped over and left walking straight. It doesn't last forever, your muscles have to relearn how to stand straight again after days of being hunched over, but even after sitting in Leva for a pizza, I was able to get straight again after a few minutes of walking again. That's already better than I was just hours earlier. Jeanette is very knowledgeable, has a great bedside manner and will answer any questions. She's very friendly, so was her colleague who was working over the other half of my couples booking. After this decadent experience, we get a bottled water after we get dressed and make our way out. Jeanette gave me free samples of muscle ointment they sell called Biofreeze. I tried it on my back when I got home, man is it ever strong and effective ice therapy. I did a little happy dance after application, it felt that good. I'd go back no problem. Very accommodating, open Saturday. Their apprentice gives 2 free massages per client 2 days during the week, book him online, Wen is well reviewed on their booking software's CMS, Genapp. I'm not going to use their app, you can see the pricing after you click the Book Online button without the app, which is not very clear if you didn't know that, and their reviews are held through this app again, tied in with Google. I'd like to see this business get some Yelp support. They advertise with Yelp but I don't see a lot of reviews or check-ins. I recommend J & J Kneadwell and will return for their expertise, Saturday hours, friendliness and excellent pricing. 5 stars, easily.

The web site makes it super easy to book and see what people and time slots are available. This was my first time to this location but Trish was warm and welcoming and made me feel right at home. Despite the apparently full schedule (based on the web site booking page) I didn't see a single other person besides Trish while I was there, which was pleasant and all the more relaxing. Trish also helpfully followed up with an email listing some recommended yoga stretches good for sore backs. The rooms are pleasant and clean, and the whole atmosphere is soothing. My massage room had a nice aroma and atmosphere. The bathroom was tucked way in the back after the laundry machines but it too was clean and tidy. My massage therapist Jasmine was lovely, she checked with my throughout my massage to make sure the pressure was good and that I felt good. I really appreciated that. She used a heat lamp to keep my feet warm and some essential oil on my neck. She was very attentive to the areas I asked her to focus on.

The owner/dragon lady came out and told me to park elsewhere because that was "their parking". I didn't see any reserved signs so I explained the situation at NoFrills and that I required a handicapped parking spot because my disability means that I need to open my door wide to exit. The regular parking spots are very tight there. TCM doesn't open until 10:00 am (Their website has the wrong hours) and it was 9:15 in the morning. I only had a few items to buy and assured the woman that I would leave well before 10:00. I was told that the next time I parked in front of their business, she would call the police to tow my car." I've never used TCM's services and am unlikely to. Someone who verbally threatens a disabled person is someone I wouldn't let massage my body or stick a pin to rebalance my chi. I'm really not worried about the threats because the last I heard, the Edmonton Police Service doesn't have any tow trucks. They hand out tickets for illegal parking, which I wasn't.
