The Flowers Fund helped me to keep my service dog a few years ago. Without their help, I would have lost her. I will always be eternally grateful. This is a wonderful group. This humane society has helped so many people and animals. Some years after they helped me, I met someone who also desperately needed help, and I told her about Flowers. She qualified for the help, and they helped her, too. She will always be grateful as well. God bless the Flowers Fund. They truly are helping animals and people in desperate need. I love volunteering for this group. I have helped to foster cats for years now and it has been a great experience. Above all, it's meaningful to me that I can give an animal a safe, loving home instead of a cage at a vet's office while it waits for a permanent home. But just as important has been how lovely, helpful and accommodating the entire " team" at Humane Tomorrow has been. I would not recommend adopting from here. Their lack of responsiveness and amount of grilling questions makes you feel inadequate and you are doing them a favor. I'm sure they have missed out on many lovely families due to their process and lack of respect towards potential owners. read more

This review is for the Flower's Fund of the Flower Mound Humane Society. This organization is living up to its stated mission, goals and objectives based upon my personal experience with them. The highest recommendation for a charitable organizaiton from me and especially for two of their staff, Mary O'Meara and Susan Mattine. In the last few months Bailey, our six year old Westie, has been severely impacted by overexposure to toxic black mold at my grandmother's home. Her immune system is suppressed which causes her to be susceptible to any number of issues. It has cost me thousands in pet bills over the last nine months despite having a pet wellness plan and monthly check-ups. In mid-May(2013), Bailey came down with a very terrible bleeding rash that covered all of her legs and underbelly. It was so severe that her system could not fight off a series of bacterial infections that then ensued with the persistent rains. The bleeding and swelling so traumatized her skin that she could not walk even one step for weeks and began losing her hair. Over the Memorial Day weekend, the cost of Bailey's vet care exceeded my ability to pay within two days of this last health crisis as we immediately were near $1000 plus my own ER bill on the same weekend (as I became sick from Bailey's infection). Someone who had seen the pictures of Bailey and heard about our situation, called the Flower Fund. They contacted me during the Memorial Day holiday (this is exceptional because they did not hesitate to get involved until a more "convenient time" after the holiday). Ms O'Meara assessed the situation, reviewed pictures, lab reports and helped me understand what was happening with Bailey and me. The Flower Fund recognized the severity of the situation and ordered additional tests and found a specialist to see Bailey. We were at a critical point where I was not going to be able to afford the care Bailey needed and we would be at a cross-roads that would lead to me not being able to provide the care Bailey needed or to be forced to give Bailey up or another solution that I was not ready to even consider. Bailey was so sick that without the intervention and support of the Flower Fund Bailey could very well have died. I'm incredibly grateful for this emergency fund and what they did to save my dog's life and to keep her here at home with me as she is now healing due to their immediate action and assistance. Below is a brief summary of the Mission for this charity. Since 1997, HSFM has given hope to thousands of homeless, abused, and unwanted animals in Flower Mound, TX and the surrounding communities by providing spay/neuter programs, adoption opportunities, and education to the public about animal welfare. The Humane Society of Flower Mound has extended these services with a program called Flower's Fund, designed to help pet owners and veterinarians faced with difficult choices when a pet requires sudden, expensive care that the owner cannot afford. Flower's Fund helps pet owners who find themselves facing the painful possibility of having to euthanize, compromise on care, or give up a pet because they are unable to afford unexpected expenses such as emergency medical care. At HSFM, our goal is to keep as many pets in the good homes they have as possible. To that end, we offer such things as behavioral counseling and assistance with finding pet-friendly housing. Flower's Fund continues this mission by helping keep pets in otherwise good homes when an unexpected medical expense is more than an owner can provide. We recognize that many veterinarians routinely work with their clients to provide payment plans, offer programs like Care Credit, etc., but that sometimes even these are not enough. We offer pet owners hope when there is nowhere else to turn. The program's initial funding came from a significant donation from Real and Muff Musgrave, longtime volunteers and supporters of HSFM. An internationally acclaimed artist, Real created a figurine called "Herding Cats," based on their experiences in fostering kittens over the years. Proceeds from the introductory event celebrating the release of this piece, and several subsequent events, were donated to HSFM to create Flower's Fund. Lots better organizations to adopt a pet from. They make it very hard to adopt from them. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor, in the way they interact and in their responsiveness. We say a dog we liked but was emailed that he wasn't available, then they left a message the next day that he was available asking if we wanted to adopt him. When we called they acted disinterested and we were told we would have to come to the adopt event during the weekend, but by the way we don't know if that dog will be there. I guess we just have to show up and see? I felt like I had to beg them to let us see the dog, much less adopt him. read more

If you would like to adopt an animal, I would not recommend doing so through the Humane Society of Flower Mound. I can appreciate that they want to make sure they are finding solid homes for their pets, but what we experienced was way over the top! They grilled us with questions on multiple occasions, and conducted a home visit (which we were ok with), but spent more time lecturing us. They ended up staying for over an hour. They are very inaccessible. It comes across as if you should feel privileged that they would even consider you to adopt a pet. We love our pets and take good care of them. We have adopted two other animals previously, and have never experienced anything like this. I know they love animals, but this was way too extreme!! read more

Unfortunately, we were denied when attempting to adopt a dog from the Flower Mound Humane Society. They stated that since the dog would be outside for a "few hours a day", that our application to adopt was denied. We are a loving and caring new family that was just married in May of this year. We were looking to give this dog a loving and caring home and were denied because the dog would be outside some of the day. I only hope that they "allow" someone to adopt this dog and give him the loving and caring home we would have provided for him. Hopefully, you find this helpful and if you do adopt from the Flower Mound Humane Society, maybe they will find you worthy to adopt their animals. read more
