That makes perfect sense, and the staff at those secondary places can give you even more information as to their behavior. The visit was very thorough both with her questions as well as mine. She was very attentive and understanding. We talked about the three Labs I had over many years. She was very aware of my answers plus she showed an understanding for the safety of my home for a rescue. She submitted the information and I received an email two days later explaining the process of meeting any of the available dogs. Finally I met a wonderful petite Lab of six years. The foster was wonderful and truly cared about the happiness of the rescue. The entire process was timely plus honest. My new Lab is perfect for me. I cannot say enough thank yous to DFWLab Rescue.

Crazy to think animals rely on this person for anything. She was an older woman in case anyone else has the "pleasure" of having to deal with her. Angry of course and useless in any kind of help or direction for this helpless stray pup. I hope she's not in charge of any lives cause that would be a bad day for any being in her "care".

I initially fostered dogs for them, which was a good experience. They provide food for dogs you are fostering. I eventually adopted a dog from Pooch Savers. They are very supportive. I will forever support this rescue. They are amazing. They have adoption events every Saturday and Sunday at the Petsmart on Park and DNT in Plano from 1-5. You can fill out an application online ahead of time to get approved to adopt. After you are approved, you can adopt same day. But you are under no obligation when filling out the application. I highly recommend fostering or adopting a dog from Pooch Savers!

They are very thorough in making sure the right person, home meets the criteria they are looking for. The adoption process was fast, understandable and easy. Being approved to adopt was a great experience. Going to PetSmart was easy to find and the process there was very organized, with volunteers who had knowledge of the dog I adopted. Her name was Little Bit when I got introduced to her and now she is Lynnie! Spending over 4 hours with her and to bound with each other was beautiful. The moment she saw me and I saw her, I felt a connection that I knew, she was for me. She wagged her tail, barked and I blew her a kiss. Then the volunteer brought her to me and the journey began. They allowed me to take as much time with her as possible. The process of signing agreements was fast and understandable. They are taking care of all her shots, spay, microchipping etc. I would totally recommend, as they recommend to go on the website, look for a dog you're interested in and fill out the application. That way when you are approved, you get an email and a first choice or second choice, depending on how many people were approved and before you. Get there early and stay in line. There was over 40ish people in line when I got there but skipped the line and became person 2, because I was approved. For context: this happened 9 years ago back in 2017. I am finally writing a review about this…read moresituation because it still BAFFLES me to this day. We still crack jokes about this situation at any given time. At the time I was 13 years old and my mom and I were looking for a small dog to adopt. We were browsing shelters all around DFW trying to find the perfect fit for our family. We stumbled across Second Chance and decided to take a look at their small dogs, and that's when we found the cutest little brown Chihuahua! She was perfect, super adorable and amazing temperament. My mom and I instantly fell in love with her and were practically begging to fill out the adoption application. Once one of the adoption counselors sat down with us, she asked us basic questions (have you owned a dog before, was the dog spayed/neutered) etc! Basic questions that we easily had the answers to. Then the lady informs us that the little dog is heartworm positive, and asks us if we know what that is. Well yes we do know what heartworm is! She then asks if we have ever had experience with a dog that is heartworm positive. (This is when it gets absolutely ridiculous) My mom, thinking she was adding important insight and HOPING to inform the counselor that we will in fact actively treat her condition, said that she did have experience with a heartworm positive dog.....WHEN SHE WAS 5 YEARS OLD. IN MEXICO. IT WAS HER FATHERS DOG. My mom, at no fault of her own, once again let the counselor know what this was literally 25-30 YEARS AGO. And it technically wasn't her dog. She just grew up with this dog and knew that when her father first adopted it, it was heartworm positive. And of course they treated and cured the dog of heartworm as well! But, it didn't matter. The lady took the little dog out of my hands and said they don't adopt to anyone who has had a dog in the past that was heartworm positive. My mom was baffled and once again tried explaining that it wasn't her dog. They didn't care. I was sooooo upset and honestly I was mad at my mom for even saying anything but in retrospect it wasn't her fault. That rule is absolutely ridiculous especially if it apparently counts towards when you were a child with no autonomy over what animal happens to be in your life. I don't know if they still operate like this, but do yourself a favor and just go to Operation Kindness. A million times better and amazing customer service as well. This is where we ended up finding our new member to the family, Bella! This place definitely has first come first serve on animals but with their STAFF (as seen in other reviews posted) and they make it very obvious by the insane rules and "criteria" they use for adopting out a dog/cat. I am 22 years old now and still would not recommend.

I would strongly caution anyone considering completing community service or volunteering with this…read moreorganization to think twice before committing their time. My experience started off positively--I was welcomed without issue and began completing my assigned hours. At no point during my time there was I informed of any concerns, misconduct, or violations. However, without any warning, explanation, or justification, I was suddenly told not to return. When I asked for clarification, the only response I received from management was: "we reserve the right to allow or deny someone to work with us." No further explanation was provided, and no opportunity was given to address or correct any alleged issue--because there wasn't one. This kind of treatment is not only unprofessional, but also deeply unfair. Individuals completing community service are often doing so under strict deadlines and requirements, and to be dismissed without cause can have serious consequences. The complete lack of communication and transparency from management raises serious concerns about how decisions are made within this organization. Based on my experience, there appears to be a disregard for fairness and accountability, and decisions may be influenced by factors that have nothing to do with a person's actual performance or behavior. That is extremely concerning. I will be formally escalating this matter, but in the meantime, I feel it is important to share my experience so others are aware. No one should risk investing their time and effort into an organization that can arbitrarily decide to dismiss them without cause or explanation. Proceed with caution.

Even when informing me of things I didn't want to hear....he has been VERY sympathetic and considerate of what I'm going through.
