I adopted my dog from Operation Kindness and am extremely disappointed with my experience…read more Before and after adoption, I specifically asked about the lumps on my dog's body on multiple occasions. I was told they were simply fatty pockets and not a concern. Because of those assurances, I trusted that there was no serious underlying issue. Unfortunately, after my dog began experiencing serious symptoms, he was taken to a veterinarian and then a surgeon, where we learned he actually had hernias that required emergency surgery. The hernias had become severe enough to affect his bladder and bowels. Even more concerning, the surgeon believes the condition had likely been present for a long time. I was also never informed that a previous hernia repair had a high risk of failure. Had I been given complete information about his medical history and the risks involved, I would have monitored him differently and sought treatment sooner. I understand that rescues cannot predict every medical outcome, but adopters deserve accurate information and full disclosure about an animal's health. Being told multiple times that these lumps were fatty tissue when they were actually hernias has caused my family significant emotional distress, unexpected veterinary expenses, and put our dog's health at risk. I hope Operation Kindness takes steps to improve communication and medical transparency so future adopters can make informed decisions and pets can receive the care they need before conditions become emergencies.

After meeting up with Yvette I was given 8 hours to make my decision. I asked if I could see Nachos vet records with no reply. That was already a red flag. I took a day to think and I was ready to adopt. Yvette said he was no longer available, however he remained on the website. When I mentioned this she did not respond. I showed up to the adoption event the next week and there he was!! I feel if they truly cared about the animals they would be accommodating and work harder to rehome. Overall, I believe Lost Paws is running a sketchy business. The whole interaction with Yvette was very off putting. My heart breaks for Nacho as I was ready to adopt and give him a great new home and all the love!!

She responded to my…read morefirst email and claimed the dog we were interested in had a family coming to look at him. However, he remained on their website. I contacted them again and was ignored. My daughter went to their rescue event at Petsmart that weekend and the dog was there for adoption. My daughter inquired about adopting the dog and she was totally ignored and was never contacted about the adoption. In fact, the owner blocked her. I have no idea what her issue was. I feel if she actually cared about the animals, she would do everything possible to get her dogs adopted. We are dog people. My daughter showed dogs in 4-h. We have always had dogs. It's just crazy how this woman is treating potential customers because we're not her first bad review. It makes me question her motives.

Proceed with caution…read more We adopted a dog from this rescue in September. He started showing aggression towards our daughter shortly after. We did everything we knew to do to change this behavior. We thought we had it under control and then one day while I was in the restroom, he snapped at her. We decided to give it one more try, sought advice from our vet and changed a few more things. A week later, my husband was playing with him in the back yard and the dog bit his thigh, ripped his pants and almost pulled him to the ground. We decided then it was no longer safe to keep the dog and did what we were supposed to do according to our adoption agreement... we called the rescue to surrender him. They told us that they were looking for a foster and after 10 days, my husband reached back out and told them they needed to pick him up asap. After receiving that email, this is what was posted about us and our dog. I was appalled at the fact that they would slander us in this way. Not only that, they never mention anything about him not being left alone with children. As far as us moving, this was known prior to the adoption. He was coming with us and they knew it. For them to turn that into a lie is disgusting. We truly loved our dog and took very good care of him, trying to give him the best life we could. If you adopt from this organization and find yourself with aggressive behavior, be sure to document all of it with videos and text messages. I only wish we would have.

A forewarning - We drove about an hour one way, only to find out that visiting hours were over and we couldn't see him. Essentially, it was a wasted trip. YOU CANNOT PLAY WITH THEIR DOGS AN HOUR BEFORE CLOSE. If that's all you read, awesome! The adoption process was very easy and more thorough than my previous experiences with animal shelters (SA animal control did not care about anything at all). They seemed a little confused on whether he had a respiratory infection (he didn't), but you are given all medical /behavioral notes they have at checkout so you 100% know what's going on when you leave. They were nice enough to give us free shampoo, conditioner, and food. It was a very good experience and we feel blessed to add another crazy guy to our household!

PLEASE BE AWARE, CAT PARENTS!!…read more I had a very disappointing experience with an organization that claims to be reputable. Unfortunately, I felt there was clear bias in how cat owners are treated compared to dog owners, and it was very obvious. Upper management did not seem attentive or helpful, even admitting to not reviewing basic communications from their own staff regarding my situation. Many responsible pet owners' concerns are ignored or mishandled. There are many other shelters and pet service organizations in the Dallas area that genuinely care and will guide you in the right direction when you need help. Based on my experience, as someone who has adopted from them before, I will not be adopting from or recommending this organization again. Please be aware, fellow cat parents.

You don't move to the City of Excellence to be average. Thank God I ain't average!…read more I moved into my new home in Plano two weeks ago and the water towers say it all. I'm right where I belong, in the City of Excellence ;) here's the thing... you aren't excellent if you aren't leaning in to help others. I'm passionate about a ton of things, giving back to others is one of the most important. I rescheduled my every 56 days blood donation to a nearby American Red Cross but being in my new town for two weeks seeing all that it gives, I knew it was time to research how I can make an immediate impact. North Texas Food Bank was a result of my research and I'm so excited about today's effort. After relocating I suppose it's quite fitting to select "Pack and Box" it's literally all I'd been doing the past few weeks, why stop now?!! I had the greatest first time volunteer experience. I signed up last night right before bed because and knew I was going to the gym at 6a with my neighbor so I selected the 1p (arrive by 1230p) time slot. Creating a new volunteer account was super straight forward. I was adding this event to my calendar within minutes. I was greeted by the sweetest ladies upon arrival, offered a locker key (wear a fanny pack if you don't have pockets and wish to bring your phone in) as you aren't wearing aprons. I left my phone in the locker. We did a brief orientation, hand washing and then volunteered for our assignments. I've put together a ton of boxes lately, so I opted for packing. I'm not certain I've ever handled so much boxed milk in my entire lifetime! I was first in the assembly line working hand in hand with Apple juice volunteer and let me just say, we did the damn thang!!! It was such a fun experience I never took a single break. My right arm will soon remind me of this fact. We packed 960 boxes, totaling 20 pallets, weighing 28,800 lbs, creating 24,000 meals! I'm a numbers nerd and love the data following your shift. It makes it that much more rewarding. Impact you can see and feel. There were several corporate groups, families and solo volunteers. Everyone was very kind. I'll definitely be volunteering here on a regular basis as my schedule provides. Thank you so much North Texas Food Bank! As a foodie, meals for those in need is a cause I hold near and dear to my heart. Highly recommend if you're looking to serve others. There are a variety of opportunities. I selected this one today but I may explore others in the near future. Hands down a superb way to spend 3 hours, and the warehouse is nice and cool on a warm day. Perfect place to volunteer in the summer (:
