Pooch Savers is a great small dog rescue. They are honest, friendly and upfront about every dog. They are dedicated to save as many dogs as possible. I initially fostered dogs for them, which was a good experience. They provide food for dogs you are fostering. I eventually adopted a dog from Pooch Savers. They are very supportive. I will forever support this rescue. They are amazing. They have adoption events every Saturday and Sunday at the Petsmart on Park and DNT in Plano from 1-5. You can fill out an application online ahead of time to get approved to adopt. After you are approved, you can adopt same day. But you are under no obligation when filling out the application. We adopted Winnie from Pooch Savers, and we absolutely love her! This is a truly great rescue. Two weeks after coming home, Winnie got sick, and Scott was amazing--he actually came out to our house for a home visit and brought her medicine. My wife and I are in our 40's. Well past the age of having or adopting kids. But something was missing in our lives. We wanted someone/ something to love and to receive that unconditional love in return. It's been hard to visit the typical dog shelters in Collin County. Usually you'll see German Shepards, pit bulls, or other large-sized dogs. Believe me... there's nothing wrong with that. Our issue was that we live in a condo and we needed a smaller dog. Those are simply not available at your typical animal shelters. We turned to a few pet stores in the Plano/ Frisco area- which proved to be a huge mistake. We were finding prices in the range of $3,000 to as high as nearly $7,000 for a puppy. We were about to lose hope- until that fateful Saturday that my wife and I stopped at the Plano PetSmart on West Park Blvd. We learned that Pooch Savers Rescue is usually there on Saturdays between 1pm and 5pm... or at least that has been their routine as of lately. In any event, they had a wide variety of small dogs that needed a home. The prices were much better than the typical pet store puppies. When I say "much better", I'm saying FARRR better- for the type of dog that we wanted. Not only that, Scott and his team were so friendly and informative. They were so knowledgeable about each dog's history and personality. You could tell they loved these dogs. You could tell the dogs loved them. We fell in love with Floofy... a mixture of Maltese, Bichon and maybe poodle. So sweet. So friendly. So well-behaved. But it wasn't a simple "We want THIS dog", you pay your money and you go home with a dog. There was a vetting process that we had to follow- and understandably so! We had to go through an application process. Through this process, someone had to visit our home and make sure it was adequate for taking care of a dog. We could tell that Pooch Savers truly cares about these dogs and they want to make sure they are going to caring homes. While this process SEEMED like it took forever (We were THAT excited about Floofy!), the process only took a few days. During that time, we were praying that someone wouldn't adopt Floofy and we'd miss out. Trust me when I say that we had a few close calls! In the end, it all worked out. We got approved and made arrangements to pick her up. On the day we picked her up, Scott personally sat with us and went through Floofy's vet visits, history of shots, microchipping, etc. He even took the time to go over Floofy's daily routine and eating habits. Scott patiently answered ALL of our questions. To top it off, Scott shared his personal cell phone so that we could reach him any time- 24 hours a day. YES! 24 HOURS A DAY! ANY TIME! When it was time to go, Floofy said "goodbye" to everyone on Scott's team. Here's where I almost cried... I could see the love they had for Floofy. Scott's wife did a "blessing"... to which I won't spoil it for you. But I was fighting back tears as it was happening. The blessing was said and she whispered a "secret" in Floofy's ear. Floofy turned to her and gave her a lick... as if to say... "OKAY!!!!" I could feel the love in that moment and I knew we were getting a special dog in Floofy. Over the next 24 hours, Scott periodically sent texts to check on Floofy's adjustment into our home. I really felt the support and interest that all was going well with our new family member. And within the past 24 hours of having her, it has been an absolute pleasure to have Floofy in our home. She is so loving, so well-behaved, so smart. I feel so blessed to have her in our home. I fight back tears as I write this review because this was nothing but God's work. Floofy is such a sweet, friendly and trusting puppy. The idea that she was found on the street terrifies me. To think that she could have been hit by a car, ran into a bigger/ vicious dog, or mistreated by someone... but she was protected during her time alone! She was rescued by Pooch Savers and they took SPECIAL care of her. And now she's with us... where she is going to get 110% unconditional love from us. This has truly been God's work. Words cannot express the love and joy that I feel in my life at the moment. I owe it all to POOCH SAVERS RESCUE. We read about PoochSavers rescuing dog and then started looking at them as a place to donate and found them to be very upfront with their adoption process and the dogs that they were in their care were well cared for and even loved. in doing our research, we fell in love and ended up with one of their rescued "strays". He was up to date on all shots and heartworm medicine and in great health. We are very pleased to give our support to PoochSavers, both thru adoption and financially. read more

I would never recommend these people. They are very inconsiderate. My friend fell in love with a dog last Sunday. She has contacted them almost every day to find out if the dog is still available I just found out for her that it has been adopted!! How easy it is to tell the people that the dog has been adopted already !! So they are not waiting to hear back from you !! I would never suggest these people for a nonprofit organization, that costs $400 to adopt a dog, they should be more considerate of people's feelings. read more

I love this rescue! I adopted a 2 year old maltipoo mix and she's the cutest ever! she's so sweet, loving, playful, and happy. if anyone is looking for one of the best groups to adopt small dogs from, this is it! I'm so thrilled. My 13 year old Pom mix needed a new sister after her bestie passed away 3 months ago. It's only been a few days but they are warming up to each other. i give the two stars because they got my baby the care she needed that i couldn't afford at the time. otherwise, if i had a choice of negative stars they'd get them. i had a friend request emergency help from them to get my sweet girl a c section to save her and her sweet babies. they agreed to help and within a few hours there were 8 sweet little babies born. then as we were getting everything ready to get them home we were told they would be keeping them and returning the mama back to me once pups were weaned. i have written numerous messages asking,very nicely, for them to return my girl and her babies...only to be ignored. now i have to get authorities invoved. i never signed one piece of anything relinquishing my babies and i want them back. im gonna be giving them till wed the 10th of february to return my property 1 mama chihuahua/minpin mix and her 8 puppies or theft charges will be leveed on the people who are running this establishment. ive been nice and tried to be patient, but after being treated as if my opinion wasn't anything, ive had enough. give me my babies back!!!! read more

Scott and Lisa are great people. My mom adopted a dog from them and it didn't work out. Scott and Lisa took him back and didn't make it weird & just accepted that it didn't work out. What really impressed me, though, was that they reached out to her when they found a home for him so we would know he's in a good place. That really softened the heartbreaking decision to give him up. I would absolutely recommend Pooch Savers if you're looking to adopt. read more
