I had reserved a 50-minute Summer Mojito Scrub and Cocoon treatment, expecting a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Unfortunately, the service fell short of expectations, and I experienced adverse effects afterward. The scrub itself was underwhelming; the technician's technique felt mediocre, and I genuinely felt I could have achieved a better result at home. Despite this, I paid $150.00, as the spa includes gratuity in the total cost.
The following day, I developed itching and irritation on multiple areas of my body, including my hands, stomach, and back. I contacted the spa, and the manager, Michelle, asked me to send photos of the affected areas, which I promptly did. She mentioned that no one had previously reported such a reaction and asked if I was allergic to citrus. I confirmed that I am not, and that this was my first time experiencing such a reaction. I've had Korean scrubs and Hammam treatments before without any issues.
Later, my scalp also began to itch--an area that had been massaged during the treatment. Michelle stated that the scrub was organic but was unsure whether the essential oils used were organic or if any product had been applied to my scalp. She said she would follow up after checking, but I never received a clear response regarding the ingredients or whether anything was used on my hair.
As the irritation worsened and rashes appeared in new areas, I followed up again. Michelle requested additional photos of the original affected areas but did not acknowledge the new symptoms I described. I reiterated that I am not allergic to citrus and asked for a refund due to the discomfort and medical attention I required. Unfortunately, she informed me that refunds are not part of the spa's policy.
I ultimately had to visit urgent care and receive medication to treat the itching and irritation. What was meant to be a relaxing end-of-week treat turned into a distressing and costly experience. read more
