I am saddened to update this review. Are you guys under new ownership? If you are from the city (SF), then you know that the flower shop on 19th Ave. is less expensive. Quality/Quantity - Not a huge selection and the prices went up again, see picture... Yes, I know everyone's prices have gone up, well NOT everyone's, but most everyone's. Not sure selection is due to bad timing for me...? After CNY and Valentines day? And prices now start at $7.50. Atmosphere - Today, very limited choices. But then again, I almost always seem to be the only customer? Mainly caters to the people visiting the cemeteries. Me. Easy parking, easy in and out. Used to be a dirt parking lot, the asphalt is a great improvement. ADA approved. Open 6 days a week from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Closed Mondays. Service - Good and questionable. She made a comment when I asked about the cash discount after I paid which threw me off. Not 100% sure what she meant by it?? But there are also two flower shops down the block, so if you do not want my business, I can also go there...? Price - Now so much more expensive and NO more cash discount. Great selection but also great staff. I chose a simple $7.99 bundle in the front of the store and the associate asked me what it was for to start a conversation. Our grandmother just passed, so it's a very trying time for the family. When we ordered the flowers Aurora was very nice and accommodating. But......when I saw the flowers for the first time at the viewing I was extremely disappointed, specifically the pathetic and embarrassing ribbon and the smeared ink on the card. The letters and words were stapled on. Our flowers were the laughing stock of the viewing, so we had moments of levity. See pic for reference. What bothered me the most was when I went back to the shop they nonchalantly said that's how they've been doing the ribbons for 100 years. He did admit he did not have enough letters to spell out 'Family' and he should have put 'The' in front of our family name. I don't like writing poor reviews and would prefer not writing anything, but this poor interaction needed sharing, so others can be better informed. This last Saturday, our family had a funeral at Cypress Lawn, which is 2 blocks from her shop. I chose her establishment, because on Yelp, this shop has good reviews, the single $ sign, no delivery charge to Cypress Lawn, and flowers are supposed to be fresh. Nobody answered the shops phone in the 8 calls I had made, so leave a message and Aurora calls you back. I called on Tuesday late afternoon, and Wednesday morning, leaving messages both times. Told her I knew she was busy with Valentine's orders, so if I didn't hear from her within the hour, I would go with another florist. She did return my call in 15 minutes. I told her what I needed and would text images (pictures are worth 1000 words) of LIKE or KIND arrangements I wanted. I told her I did NOT want exact copies, since she could use Valentine's Day "extras" to reduce my cost and was aware it was winter, so I knew some flowers were not available (I belong to a floral design guild, so I work with flowers myself), so please substitute where needed. She said, not to worry and I would be "VERY HAPPY" with the flowers I received. Day of funeral...of the 5 arrangements, 3 were very small, poorly designed and did NOT have any last minute changes as requested. She had even texted back to me, that she would add the requested filler flowers since 1 arrangement was very bare. Another looked like a striped rainbow of flowers, was mis-shapened and ridiculous looking. She texted back she would make changes. Other floral arrangements were sent to our funeral, by other family and friends. They were huge, full and grand. I snagged the cards and called the florist to ask about their prices. I was shocked to find they were 33% cheaper and 33% BIGGER with the same kind of flowers. I called and texted Aurora on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). She didn't return my call UNTIL I left a message stating I was going to review her service. She said she was sorry, customer service was very important to her. That's just lip service, she had $1,650.00 of my money and didn't care. This funeral was over her head. She can provide $3 to $5 bouquets to place on graves, but ask for large arrangements, with artistry needed and she can't do it. She can only make poor copies. read more

This is a small shop that's easy to run in and run out of quickly. Parking couldn't have been easier. Out front there was a display of $3 bouquets - perfect for taking to the cemetery. The bouquets were fresh, colorful, and there was a nice selection. I picked two bouquets, thinking I'd put one bouquet on each side of the crypt, took them inside, and was greeted by a warm, friendly lady. I looked around for a few moments. There was a nice selection inside the shop as well. She asked if I wanted the stems cut for the cemetery. I said yes, and the tears started flowing. She asked me to wait a moment, went to the back, brought out some Kleenex for me and then cut the stems and wrapped the bouquets. When I arrived at the cemetery, I realized the bouquets were larger than I thought. I was easily able to divide one bouquet in two for the vases on the sides of the crypt. The second bouquet I took home (see picture). The easy parking, economical prices, nice fresh selection, and kind customer service will bring me back here again. read more

Have been coming here for many many years. My brother-in-law took us here way back when because it is next to the Woodlawn cemetery where my grandparents are buried. Thereafter, so are some of our friends and more recently, my father. This place is small but the staff is always very friendly and helpful. Their bouquets are very inexpensive, as are their selection of flowers. The Asian lady who has worked there for years are not there anymore, time is hard and they need to cut down on expenses. We had just returned from a memorial and BFF wanted to stop off at a cemetery to visit a relative. So, she stopped off at this floral shop where she's picked up flowers before. I went in to buy flowers with her and wasn't all that ikmpressed with their pre-prepared small bouquets. The flowers consisted of some dull astromerias, brownish poms, a calla here and there. In my opinion, kind of ugly. Inside, were a few slightly larger bouquets which cost 2 bucks more with slightly better looking flowers only because of a rose or daylily. The flowers down the road at Paul's are much better looking and a better buy for the price (more and better looking). This is a pretty small shop too. read more

I just used this shop last week, based on a recommendation from the funeral home. I really appreciate that Rich took the order over the phone, helped me decide what was appropriate, etc. I had to order flowers for my grandfather's funeral and I had no idea what was typical (you know how it is--relatives assign a job to you). I also placed the order just 24 hours before the funeral! The price was very reasonable and the flowers were beautiful--exceeded my expectations. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because communication could have been a little better, but I'm not complaining. I was very happy with the experience. I ordered a sympathy arrangement from Aurora over the phone and she made it very easy and stress free. Another Yelper that used Flowerland posted a photo of an arrangement that I liked and she knew exactly the one I was talking about and duplicated the arrangement in basket form vs. a standing spray. She also texted me a photo of the arrangement right before it was delivered. The texted photo was a sigh of relief. Something about sympathy arrangements stress me out. I worry about it looking sloppy, smaller than promised, wilted or simply never showing up. And later that day when I attended the service, the floral arrangement looked even prettier in person. Bad experience ordering a standing spray for a funeral service. I paid $30 for two ribbons. One was to say "Loving Aunt" and the other was to say "Beloved Godmother." When I arrived at the mortuary, the flowers looked fine, but I was so embarrassed by the quality of the ribbons. Especially in comparison to the other beautiful arrangements that were there. They didn't tell me that they didn't have a ribbon printer, so the words were plastic STAPLED onto a ribbon (see my picture). In addition, the ribbon said "Loving Grandmother" not GODMOTHER. This is not how I wanted to pay tribute to my aunt. We went back the next morning and got our money back for the ribbons. We then went to Paul's and had them replaced. I will never come here again. My late mother's birthday so I decided to get a simple bunch of flowers for her and my dad's niche at Cypress Lawn. I didn't realize there's another flower shop that's closer to the funeral home. But since Flowerland was prominently located in the area I was driving I decided to try them. Well, the good thing is that they do have very inexpensive bouquets for alot less than Safeway and the like. But I found the customer service to be just all right. The middle aged Latina who I approached to pay was helping another customer. But his order was long and drawn out so I approached her and she could tell I needed to pay and get going. She was polite but not welcoming. Maybe it's due to the theme of the flower shop I give that. But it would've been better if she'd have been welcoming to a new customer. She did I must say ask if I needed the stems trimmed & that was great. I saw other reviews mentioning a white guy in sports garb working there. I do believe I saw him too except at the time I thought he was a customer. So obviously he didn't ask if I needed help. Probably will try the other shop next time. read more

Came to the area to pay respects to our dearly departed and wanted to get some flowers. This place is still here and glad that they are. Sandwiched between two cemeteries, just down the road from Best Buy, Flowerland offers the bouquets for $3 each. It's a great price since my departed relatives would be mad at me if I spent too much money on them. I took them inside and the clerk cuts off the ends and advises us to leave these in the cellophane wrapper so the wind doesn't blow them around. Good idea. Don't want to mess up the relatives grave sites with loose flowers blowing around. The bouquets are simple and colorful. Since it decorates the grave site and not going on the dining room table, it looks fine for the price. My departed relatives would want me not to fuss on spending too much money on them. "Don't worry Uncle, I got such a deal!" I know someone is smiling. By the way, from my relatives grave site they can see Best Buy. Yikes! read more

Our family had to attend a funeral service at Cypress Lawn, Colma. We wanted to order some sympathy floral arrangements from a florist close by. We went on line and found many flower shops in that area. We read the reviews on some of these florists and decided to give Flowerland Floral Shop a call. We spoke to Aurora and found her to be accommodating and helpful on the phone. We decided to go down there from S.F. that same day to view her catalog. Aurora was there to greet us. She had pictures and a catalog to show us her work. She took the time to explain to us what size the arrangements would be based on our price budget. She asked us what colors and type of flowers we liked her to use in the arrangements. She was very patient with us. We ended up ordering three arrangements , price ranging from $25 $60. Since the funeral home was a few blocks away, she did not charge us for the delivery. That was nice of her. On the day of the service, we found our flowers beautifully done with coordinating colors that we asked for. We were so pleased. Aurora used fresh, quality flowers, like Casablanca lillies, roses, gladiolus,etc. Some other florists that we used in the past used old, droopy, cheap flowers like daisies and mums in arrangements. Sometimes this happens because they know its for a funeral and its going to be toss out. But not Aurora, she used really nice quality blooms, even the funeral director commented on this. Our whole family was pleased with what we ordered. (You know how it is when other people asked you to order for them too.) Being in retail ourselves, we highly recommend this shop to anyone for any occasion flowers. Aurora does good work and gives excellent customer service. I don't know if she is the owner, we didn't ask. Their flowers are moderately priced and she is willing to work within your budget. Don't be shocked to see a small little shop sitting on a small little parking lot. Give them a chance. They had a lot of stock on hand , a variety of flowers to choose from. My brothers and I unfortunately had to purchase arrangements for our father's services. The mortuary's preferred vendor is Paul's Flowers, but we decided to try Flowerland because of the reviews. Aurora was so helpful and sympathetic. We looked thru their books and I also had pics of some examples I found on Pinterest, which she was able to recreate. She showed us the flowers to be used in the arrangements we chose, so we can see how they looked together. She didn't charge for the ribbons, and the prices were also good for the arrangements we chose. In fact, they were even cheaper than what we thought they would be (for such big and beautiful arrangements!) They also delivered for no extra charge. Also, Aurora even followed up with my sister in law to find out what she wanted the ribbon to say. My sis was supposed to call her request in but due to the recent rain storm their phones weren't working. When we arrived at the mortuary, the flowers were already there. Although we were grief stricken, the flowers brought us some comfort. Flowerland exceeded our expectations! I strongly recommend them for funeral or sympathy arrangements.
