I stumbled upon Hoagasian Flowers by accident, and I'm really glad I did. You can easily drive in from 7th Street, park right there, shop, and drive out -- which made it perfect when I just wanted to quickly grab a bouquet for a friend's birthday. The staff was very attentive without being pushy. After I picked a bouquet, they went above and beyond to make sure it looked beautiful -- adjusting, arranging, and taking their time so it felt thoughtful and complete. They then gave me a box to hold the flowers with the vase. There was a cute note on the box saying that if you return it, you'll get a free rose. I honestly thought it would be just a single rose, but when I came back, they surprised me with a large, gorgeous pink rose, along with baby's breath and rose foliage, and all wrapped so nicely. It felt generous and genuinely thoughtful, not performative. The flowers are beautiful, but what stood out to me most was the care and intention behind everything they do. Stopped by Hoogasian Flowers to check out the plants inside when we passed by on a sunny Saturday. There were some people picking up a gorgeous flower arrangement and we browsed through the pretty decent selection of plants and cut flowers. It's a very large space, but there's not a huge selection of plants; I'm sure most of the business is focused on the flowers which were beautiful. We saw some cute little pots of plants and picked one to take home with us. They were so nice to discount the plant from $5 to $3 since that was all I had in cash, and their Apple pay was down at the moment. They also provided some watering tips when we asked, and package the plant very securely in a cardboard box with tissue paper, which was perfect since we were a little worried about how it would fare on our walk home with how windy it was that day. I would definitely consider Hoogasian for their flowers in the future from what I saw of the arrangement the previous customers had picked up! read more

My husband surprised me with some beautiful rainbow roses for Valentine's Day- they were absolutely stunning! Well, a week later when I decided to dry them out my husband and I realized there weren't as many as actually ordered. He called Hoogasians and let them know there were some missing and they were super apologetic. They explained the oversight and a couple days later I get a knock on the door and it's another big, beautiful bouquet of rainbow roses! The gentleman Harry (who I later learned is the owner) explained there was an oversight on Valentine's and that when he received my husband's call he felt horrible and he wanted to fix it. I told him that he did not have to do all that to which he replied, "Oh, yes I did!" Harry was so genuine, so wonderful, and just incredibly kind! He also gave some coffee beans he made himself from his coffee farm in Hawaii! You can tell he loves his business and those who support him! His passion and kindness left such an impression on me... I received one of the most beautiful flower arrangements for my birthday! It's gorgeous and fresh, and I couldn't be happier! It came with a balloon that was anchored to a small package of Kona coffee as well. The vase and water that it comes in already has the proper proportion of flower food inside. However, they include an additional package of flower food should you need to change the water a few days later. My friend who purchased this arrangement for me said that Gary was extremely nice and made same day shipping happen for him.... Even though it's pouring outside! Everyone has a thing. I don't like to write reviews near where I sleep. It's just that simple. But I make exceptions on an occasion and this is one such exception. I have many places in the world that I call homes. For reasons unclear to me other than that I do not feel secure enough to set my roots in anything, that I tend to spread my wings, it's difficult to then to have another place that I shall need to decorate. To minimize that effort, I found a bouquet of purple tulips and a plant that does not require much caring. For I'm often gone month at a time. The fern is growing very well, a month or so later, it's thriving. The purple tulip lasted a little bit before it wilted, but it last longer than I had thought. That evening when I came in to buy flowers and a house plant, they gave me a beautiful flower to pin on my dress. It was a white large gardenia, I put it in a glass bowl, with water, and it floated, on top of the window sill. I've been out of the country a bunch of times to many different other countries. I come back only when I am home, often, once in a few weeks, sometimes I'm alone, sometimes I bring someone. The fern is doing great. I water it once a month (if I'm back from my travels). I like the feeling of seeing green. It is as if there is now finally life growing inside of this large, empty, huge loft. And it makes me happy when I return. read more

I was a novice at this, and Larry helped me realize my vision--- to be a celebration of my sister's life rather than a memorial service. As I lived 3 hours away, Larry spent time on the phone directing me to various photos on the website, and later sent photos of the planned floral arrangements. Since this was an outside event, he suggested heavy/short cubed vases, and I was able to have a small arrangement on each table as well as a larger one at the entrance. Hats off to these guys! They are artisans and SF originals. We came into SF from Sacramento for our wedding and Larry from Hoogasian came through with a beautiful summer bouquet and boutonnière for our ceremony. Since we are no longer from the area we weren't familiar with florists who could help, and after receiving the brush off from the startup online florist scene, which seemed practical but weren't, it was really refreshing to be able to talk to a florist who communicated and took orders over the phone. Most importantly, when we ran into traffic coming to SF to pick up our flowers that pushed us past the 5:00 pm closing time, the evening before, Larry waited up for us so we wouldn't have to scramble on our big day! That's the kind of empathetic, seasoned and conscientious customer service you need when your doing your own wedding. That and a real person on the other end that will answer the phone.. The flowers were so fresh that even after a night in a hotel without refrigeration and a full day of ceremony and photographs hours later, they are still colorful and going strong. Hoogasian Flowers CAME THROUGH during the pandemic. We had a friend in the hospital for emergency surgery. I called a few places - they said NO, they cannot deliver to a hospital in these times. I called Hoogasian, and was directed to Harold Hoogasian (after business hours!), who completely took over the project. He called the hospital the next morning to ensure a smooth delivery. At the height of the shutdown, when no one else could, Hoogasian delivered beautiful flowers to a hospital patient. One week later, she and her flowers are home, and the flowers still look great (one of the attached photos.) This is an update to the review I posted on 5/4/23. I gave Hoogasian a 2 star because the arrangement I ordered was not at all the arrangement that was delivered. I decided to call to voice my concerns and was lucky enough to get the owner, Harold on the phone. He COULD NOT have been more apologetic. He was totally understanding of my issue and told me he would do whatever it took to rectify the situation up to and including a full refund. I chose to have the correct arrangement delivered. He promised the arrangement would come from their facility and would be delivered ASAP.
