If you're coming here for happy hour I'd stay away from any liquor based drink and just get a beer. I literally tasted no alcohol in my drink what so ever. The service here is friendly and welcoming, and I was consistently checked on throughout my visit, which really enhanced the experience. I ordered the jalapeño poppers--while not amazing, they were decent and filling. I also tried the teriyaki chicken; it didn't quite meet my expectations, but it was still satisfying. I broke my own rule and ate lunch at a bar. There is a difference between a bar that also serves food, and a restaurant that also serves drinks. Generally speaking, the food is lacking at bars much like drinks may be lacking at a restaurant. Such was my experience here today. I went for the fish and chips as they were highly touted and I have had a hard time finding good FnC in reno. Much to my dismay these fish n chips will not end my search for some good ones. What I liked: - Fish was not oily with grease dripping out of the bottom - Fries were thick but done nicely. I liked the fact they were not slathered with cajun seasoning or parmesan truffle oil - Soda came in a huge cup. I love that and didn't have to constantly flag down my server for a refill. - Service was top notch and fast Things that fell short: - Batter was too thick for my liking. Fish to batter ratio was about 1:1. When batter is that thick they have to cook it longer to get golden brown. In so doing the fish gets overcooked. IMO, either thin down the batter or get thicker filets. My fish was tough and on its way to becoming jerky. I am not a coleslaw fan so it went untouched but it looked fresh. Net net, if you like your fish to be wrapped up in coating like a corndog you will probably like this place. For me i left half the breading on the plate as l found myself peeling the coating off to get to the fish. If i want to eat fried batter i will go to a donut shop. read more

This is the quintessential Flowing Tide set up complete with a huge schooner ship at the entrance. What I really like about this franchise is the variety of menu items. From cioppino to fries, pub grub to salmon plates. Seems always busy, but not overwhelmed. Happy hour is a popular time here. Fish chips and hamburgers are seen on a lot of tables. Friendly servers. Walked in on a Saturday morning right at opening. I dont think anyone saw us come in so we flagged down a server. Ashley was kind, pleasant and cheerful. Ordered breakfast. Omelette with some substitutions and the tidal breakfast. Two eggs over medium, bacon-limp, rye toast (came dry which is what I prefer) and O'Brien potatoes. It was excellent. Definitely a good pub atmosphere and a good place to watch sports Got the following: Mussels pan roast: 3 stars, liked that it tasted like mussels but was a little too tangy. The garlic bread was good with it! Reuben sandwich: 3.5 stars, everything was there, was a little messy. Something was missing though. I would order this again, just as a side note - definitely good enough to eat again Potato salad: this came as a side to the Reuben - 4 stars! Really enjoyed this. On a Friday 3:40 in the afternoon, this place is packed! I can tell you why. The restaurant / sports bar is conveniently located right off hwy 395. There is plenty of parking. The Happy Hour menu is fantastic. The drinks are so reasonable. There are appetizers for $7.00. I have tried the nachos, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, and chicken tenders. The portions are generous. The food tastes great ( bar food). There are TVs everywhere to watch sports, especially fun during football playoffs! Shout out to our bartender, Sara! Got a perfect seat right at the bar and tasted some beers on tap before we decided. One hibiscus sour and an Angry Orchard to go with our sips of tequila, Espolon reposado. After a few minutes of chilling we ordered it up. I love their salads, always a fan. As you can see in the lovely picture, I had the Tide Cobb, it was amazing. Our server, Hannah, was so attentive and personable, and took such excellent care of us, and checked in to make sure we didn't need anything squeezed in before the Happy Hour specials ended. I reviewed this pub before. It serves amazing burgers, chips, and salads. I was there Sunday afternoon. They have a dozen screens (which is expected for a pub). The food is exactly what one would expect. I chose the Cobb salad. It was three times more than I could eat. The chicken was good. The avocado was perfect. The bacon...who doesn't love bacon? My friend had a bacon burger. While I could not do a clean plate, he did! It is a classic U.S. pub. It is a bit dark. The music is not too loud. Although my husband and I have been to 3 other Flowing Tide locations, we go to this location the most because it's close to where we live. The food and drinks have been consistently good, and the Happy Hour menu is great. It's no wonder the place is always packed. I can only think of one instance that we had to find a different place to eat because there was a long wait time, and we were on a time crunch. We have had wings and nachos supreme for appetizers, both were amazing. For entrees, we have ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce, seafood fettuccine, seafood pan roast, fish and chips, and tuna melt; all were tasty! How exciting to get back in FT #2. Not much has changed. Still great food. All the waitstaff are still terrific. It's such a popular place these folks need roller skates. Usually there's plenty of casual conversation but not tonight. It's all good. They really are busy. As always the spaghetti dinner is the best. The garlic bread is a nice compliment. Mrs. E. ordered Chicken Strips off the happy hour menu and is pleased. She requests the honey-mustard dipping sauce (personally, I prefer ranch or bbq). This still trumps other venues in the area for sports and drinks. Big screens everywhere and Victor is pretty good about trying to find the event your looking for. A while back they renovated the restrooms and they do a nice job of keeping them maintained. Definitely Covid motivated rules in place. Social distancing, masked waitresses, constant cleaning. Brownie Sundae: a complete ripoff. The sundae came in a large fancy cup with two huge scoops of vanilla ice cream and giant pile of whipped cream. Decided to scoop it out onto the plate to have an easier time eating it.. found that the "brownie" in the sundae was literally just a bite sized brownie piece all crushed up. I've never set foot in here but heard good things from other friends. The opportunity came after last night's Reno Ice Raiders victorious win over the Fond Du Lac Bears. I didn't know they had happy hour from 10p-midnight so I thought I'd take advantage of things. The choices were wings and fries, strips and fries, a quesadilla, tacos, or something else I can't place. I chose two chicken tacos and chips and salsa. Tacos, like pizza, can be prepared in several ways. The tacos made here were flavorful and filling. The chips reminded me of a company from the Bay Area called 'Casa Sanchez'. This is designed to be complimentary. I'm not sure if FT makes their chips in-house but if they do, bravo! They could have used a little more salt, at the same time I could have added it from the shaker on the table. The salsa left a lot to be desired. I was going to make this a 4-star review but seeing the salsa was the only glitch in the matrix, I didn't think that was a fair judgment. Overall, the atmosphere was electric, people were having a great time, and the food was most certainly enough of an invitation to go back soon. OH, and before I forget, props to the server whose order tablet had the endurance to make it through the Reno Ice Raiders food, drink orders. She was the true MVP. Thanks, Tide!
