The flying J bar refused service to my family and I. We are all from out of town (california and colorado) we are used to having our ID's on our phones and everything digital. They wouldnt accept our state issued ID's through our state issued app. I do believe it was racially motivated. We are all native americans but we are not from here. We had just been through a funeral and wanted to find somewhere to hangout and reflect on this difficult time. I wouldnt recommend to anyone out of town or anyone who is a person of color. Definitely wouldn't come back to this place of business and very happy they weren't taking our money. read more

Well we drivers and were on our reset in need to do laundry.... there were 3 washers. one was out of order. a worker was doing his laundry in one and the other working one was taken by a family traveling across country.... These drivers just cant unhook and find a laundry mat. Truck stop laundry should be for working drivers only. read more

Cinnamon roll anyone?? What a find this place was. We stopped for coffee and my sugar lovin sweetheart spotted the giant plate of cinnamon iced amazing. They also had a Carmel roll but there was no way we were even going to attempt a double dose of that kinda sugar. It was heated...served with butter and soooo good it was insane!! Being from Colorado we have our famous Johnsons corners cinnamon rolls but this baby was a very close second. Oh and we split breakfast plate after that. I probably wouldn't eat here again. They do not require masks for staff, waiters, or patrons. It looks like same pre COVID cleaning practice which is quick wipe down. They are nice but the lack of precaution of infection is more than enough to keep me away. So if you are concerned about COVID19 I would pass this place. read more

Stopped in for a shower while I was passing through. Very clean, private shower with sink and toilet. I highly recommend this place.

This Flying J was the worst. We are traveling with our RV for the holidays. We are Good Sam members so we use our card for a discount. We only use Pilot or Flying J stores. There were at least 8 people in line. They wouldn't honor my pilot discount coupons and I had to come back inside and get in line all over again to pre pay for gas. The lady working was rude. We will continue on up the road to the pilot and skip that Flying J every single time. Go the extra mile and stay away from this disaster. read more

Stopped to take a shower and found that the place is poorly managed in the way of cleanliness. When we entered the shower we found hair in the sink and the last guests dirty towel, which tells me they prop busted tossed new towels and looked around and reopened the shower. My husband has eaten at the Flying J in Rapid City SD before, but it's been several years. And my experience has always been good, but we where very disappointed in the quality of the food. In the past we felt it was very close to home cooking but not after today. We both had the buffet, food was luke warm, Mac and cheese didn't have any cheese sauce, dinner rolls brought out from kitchen were cold just out of frig. When we told our waitress and the lady at the register they apologized but didn't offer any compensation so we paid $29.43 for 2 people and most of the food was left on the plate. On the coldest of crazy nights (-18F) they still had a squeegee and windshield washer fluid that was not frozen. We must have been to 6 other gas stations in town before we found this Flying J that gave us the chance to clean our filthy windows and headlights. Their prices generally seem a little bit higher than other places in town, but they do have winter mix diesel when the weather gets cold. Not all other gas stations in Rapid City use a winter blend in their diesel. Also, in the truck lanes you can get DEF fluid for you diesel. It is much less expensive at the pump than it is buying it at any of the auto parts stores or dealerships in town. All octane types of gas can be found at this station, from 85 to 91, and they even have E85. Unfortunately all of their regular octane fuel now includes the up to 10% ethanol added stickers. I guess it's a state law now. I wish I could still find plain old 93 octane gasoline. But that's my own battle. Many, many car, truck, and semi pumps available so I have never had to wait to fill. Their fuel turn over seems pretty good so we have also never had any problems with the quality of fuel either. One draw back, they don't seem to want to accept the Flying J fuel rewards card at this location. They state that they are privately owned and it is something the owner has chosen not to be a part of. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Pump handles are generally pretty clean year round, but some of the staff seem disinterested in helping if you have question or need assistance with anything. In general, there are some good qualities with what is available at this station, but it's little more than your run of the mill Flying J. read more

I went here this morning May 17th 2019 to refill my propane bottle. The guy doing the propane is a total jerk, I could tell he absolutely hates his job. Went inside to pay, asked about Flying J Rewards, I have the app on my phone plus am a Good Sam Member, Was told Flying J has three apps and I need to download all of them.........? Then I was told that they are a franchise and they don't do the rewards program. Lucky for me there are all kinds of Loves's around the country so no more Flying J. If I were you I would drive the 3 miles up the road to Loves where the people are friendly and they honor their rewards program. Also Flying J charges less for fuel if you pay cash, This is in direct violation of their merchant agreement and federal law. Good bye Flying J...........no more. Some of the food from the menu is fantastic. The buffet and salad bar you can't really go wrong with especially for breakfast! Service is really good. It can get a little noisy because it is a truck stop, they tell the truckers over the intercom when their showers are ready but that is just to be expected. it can be a little cold in the building but overall the place is great. read more

It's been a long time since we encountered such a rude and arrogant staff at a Flying J -- or any other truck stop for that matter. We travel via RV, and most Flying J locations graciously grant permission for us to park overnight for one night. Many even have designated RV parking spaces, separate from the trucks. My wife telephoned ahead to verify permission to park for the night, and was told that we would have to drive there before they would give permission (almost unheard-of in the RVing world). When she said that if we got permission over the phone, we would come there, spend the night, fill up with fuel and be on our way. The supervisor refused to grant permission and seemed angry that she had even asked. The next morning I telephoned to verify their policy. The woman who answered the phone was not only rude, she lied to us, saying that they have NEVER allowed Overnight RV Parking at this location. We know this is a lie because we have parked overnight there ourselves, once in July 2017 and once in September of 2019. We will never attempt to patronize this Flying J location again, and we recommend that everyone else avoid it as well, unless you enjoy rude and condescending employees. read more
