It was our last night in NC and I was looking for something that was distinctly NC. After much searching, I stumbled across Flying Machine and decided it at least had a fun name. We had hoped to have a couple oysters to start, but we're told that because the health inspector was in the midst of an inspection they couldn't serve oysters at that time. (I didn't ask for details but was thinking that perhaps the owner/manager prepares the oysters and had to deal with the health inspector so wasn't available to prep oysters.). So no raw oysters for us. I ordered the blue crab pasta and hubby went with the calabashket which allows you to choose 2 options or all 3 for an extra fee. He chose the shrimp and oysters. We both loved the light batter that is calabash style. Overall food was very good, though I felt the pasta was just slightly overcooked. Portion sizes were generous. If you're in the Wrightsville Beach area, we'd definitely recommend. Our server was great - polite and helpful. Not her fault we couldn't get the oysters.

I went to dinner but wanted to end the night with oysters. Since I was visiting, I wanted to try somewhere close to my hotel. This was the perfect spot, even as we came in close to closing. They were so accommodating. I believe the servers name was Coral. I even purchased a 4 pk of their beer. So good! I can't wait to go back!

Highly recommend giving FMOB a visit! We went for lunch after a walk on the loop and got a seasonal cocktail, a lighter IPA, salad and split a burger. Left full and happy. The service from Loren and the team was great. The food was delicious!

Modern bar and restaurant with multiple bars and plenty of seating inside and small seating area outside. Seating was quick, waitress was prompt and never left me wanting. Food and drink selection is plentiful. Had fish sandwich, sweet potato fries and coastal pouting. Dreamy Eyes on tap was delicious. Everything impressed and will return.

Stopped by to check out the pop up exhibit of Wrightsville Beach Museum , which was fun. And decided to stay for dinner. Was greeted warmly by Molly , who is wonderful . I was seated by window given the specials and regular menu, so many choices. My server was Josh, who was very attentive and knowledgeable. I decided upon the Blue Crab Pasta. White wine, capers, shallots, charred lemon, Parmesan, sunflower seed basil pesto, over linguine. Chose a lovely Pine Ridge chenin blanc viognier to go with it. I was checked on several times while I waited a short time while I waited for my dinner. Dinner arrived it was hot, smelled wonderful and looked amazing. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the pesto sauce was creamy , light in garlic and divine. The charred lemon added a nice depth to the dish. I loved the Parmesan on top. It was definitely a good choice. I will definitely be back to try another dish. Spectacular all the way around.

It was easy to make a same day reservation for dinner for a party of two. We even changed the time an hour or two before our reservation without issues. I got to try some NC oysters. It came with vinegar and cocktail sauce mixed with horse radish. We split the Caesar salad which was average. I don't think I tasted much anchovies and the croutons were very soft with different types of bread. We really liked our crab pasta. It came with a really interesting chili sauce on the side that tasted like it had an Asian twist. We also shared the fried fish and shrimp basket with fries. Overall, great option for dinner for both small and big groups with good food options!

Why? Why? Why? Why does every restaurant that is great always fall so low? We went in on a Friday around 1:00. It was pouring rain, so we assumed it may be busy with tourist looking for something to do. There was no one at the bar, including no bartender, and only two tables were set. It took us a minute to get noticed by anyone working there, and when someone finally came over, she chose to seat us at the absolute worst table in this huge empty place. So, we moved to the bar. Traditionally, we had great service at the bar and thought maybe the bartender had just been busy in the back. Hannah, a server, came behind the bar and took our drink order. Then became distracted by trying to find the Olympics on the TV (another couple asked for it, which is fine, but maybe get our drinks made first?) which took about 10 minutes. Hannah was incredibly nice and was trying to save this sinking ship of an experience. In the meantime, another couple came in and also sat at the bar, saw that no one had drinks and there was no bartender, and was smart enough to exit right. A server, who've we had before and know he is great, came from the back to make our drinks. He seemed annoyed, but not by us, but by the situation. Anyway, we eventually got our drinks after waiting for over 20 minutes. Hannah shared that bartenders don't come in until 3:00. Um. What? You're at the beach, in the middle of tourist season, you're open for lunch, and the manager doesn't think a bartender is necessary for lunch service!!!!??? For a place known for its creative cocktails!?!?! Although we'd picked our food out, we clearly saw the writing on the wall, had our drinks and took our business elsewhere. This place messed up when they stopped serving brunch on the weekends. They had the best brunch anywhere in Wilmington or WB. Every time we had a guest in town, we'd take them here for brunch. And it was always packed! Unfortunately, this place has gone down and we won't be going back. We're all so disappointed because it was a great place to go for wonderfully unique and delicious food and cocktails. It was our go-to place. Now we just couldn't wait to get out of there. Another one bites the dust.

Yummy dinner!! I had a Hugo spritz and it was very tasty. The first one was better than the second, but still may try to make this at home after trying it for the first time. I ordered the lobster Mac and it was very tasty! I didn't love the sweet tomatoes on it, but it came with a good amount of lobster and otherwise just the right amount of cheese. If I came back I would order the blue crab pasta my friends ordered, which was divine. We had a reservation, but it looked like they could also handle some walk ins and there was plenty of parking around.

Stopped here for dinner with a couple friends after a day out on the beach. We loved the food and overall the service was good. We decided to order one of the apps/small plates to share and landed on the Labneh Yogurt Dip. (One of our party has a shellfish allergy so most of the seafood options were off the table for a share plate). I was really pleasantly surprised by how good it was! It's a great item for sharing and came with some tasty slices of naan. The dip was seasoned throughout and had a nice flavor. It was pretty light and refreshing. I would definitely order this again. We were also able to request additional naan when we ran out ($2 charge). While multiple menu items appealed to us for entrees, we ordered the Chicken & Andouille Mac, Blue Crab Pasta, and Elote Wedge Salad. We all really enjoyed our entrees. The chicken/sausage mac and cheese was a large portion. My friend who had ordered the pasta cleared the bowl. I actually loved the salad and its toppings and the dressing was really good. I'd absolutely return here and I think we were all pretty satisfied with our meal.

    $1 oyster Monday

Loved this place! Everyone was super friendly. The bar was filled with off duty employees, which is always a good sign at a restaurant. The pear spritz was delicious. Tons of tables inside and outside. Highly recommend $1 oyster Monday! Has a casual vibe but could also be more upscale.

We really enjoyed all the food here, our server was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, and food came out fast. Great spot for some fresh oysters, local beer, and a laidback atmosphere good for a casual lunch/dinner. Will definitely be back!

There is an elevator you can take to the 2nd floor. Had a nice view of the ocean from our table. We didn't have enough time to check out the beach since it became dark early. There are quite a few steps to get down to the beach area from the restaurant (since it is on the 2nd floor) and you will need to walk a short distance. We started off with the Pork belly banh mi sliders appetizer, which were an excellent choice. I loved the crunchy bits of the sweet and salty pork belly. For entrees we had the handhelds Bacon jam B.L.T. and Vegan burger. The Bacon jam B.L.T. was great. The vegan burger was okay - I didn't like the flavor as much and the big raw onion slice. Both entrees came with a choice of a side - we chose fries and sweet potato tots. Fries were good. Sweet potato tots were not bad but not as crispy compared to Mess Hall's tator tots. Also had the pesto flatbread with balsamic glaze, which was good. The flatbread was more on the softer side. It sure made for a tasty leftover snack. Service was okay. Highchairs are available. They have a Kids menu/coloring page with crayons. Would come back to try other foods.
