I had the pleasure of visiting them while my dad waited in the car out front, and he was super helpful, and educated me on a better foam than what I was seeking, and for many years, I've been meaning to return. This local business, which opened in 1982 and is located among a row of businesses along Clayton Blvd. has been a mainstay in Concord. My former PT referred me to this store -- 7 years ago(!!) to purchase a foam wedge, which would boost my sit bones. I never would have thought that a foam and cushion store would sell anything other than furniture or items for furniture! During my first visit, the owner, Jesse Cooper, helped me. He had a stack of foam wedges next to the front counter. I liked the fact that I could test one out and that there were a variety of colors of the zipped covers from which to choose. It was also nice to walk into a brick-and-mortar store to try things out in person, rather than purchase online. Thanks to the density of the foam, the wedge has held up very well for 7 years! When I decided to purchase a second wedge recently, I came back to this store, and this time, Jesse Cooper's son, Grey Cooper, assisted me. The stack of foam wedges were still located on a shelf next to the front counter. However, they all seemed to have been cut smaller in size, the zipped cover material didn't seem as durable, and the wedge seemed squishier when I tested it out. When I expressed my concern, Grey showed me an old foam wedge that he said had held up for years. It was the same old foam wedge that his father, Jesse, had demoed for me 7 years earlier! Unfortunately, after 1 year of use, the most recently purchased foam wedge has NOT held up like the original. It's become a bit of a U shape, while the original is still sturdy as ever! Why? Because the foam is NOT as dense in the newer wedge : ( I'm definitely disappointed at the product quality : ( Take a look at my photos of both foam wedges for comparison. I'd like to stop into the store with both cushions so that the owner's son, who is now the new proprietor, can take a look at them. Grey was masterful in recommending, measuring and finally restoring cushions in our sofa and loveseat. The whole purchasing experience was smooth from the first phone call to the last visit to get the cushions filled. The new foam they put in is way better than what came with their chairs, and we paid a pretty penny for them in Ethan Allen. The only minor downside is that we live a little far from the shop so it wasn't the shortest commute, but hey, I am sure it would've costed more if they were in one of those posh city centers. We purchased a teak dining table that didn't come with chairs. The place where we bought it from built us custom, two person benches. But the thing that really made the set complete were the custom bench pads that Foam & Cushion made for us. Very reasonably priced, great communication and completed when they told us it would be. Months of research driven by my sore neck and my wife's sore back lead us to seek a latex mattress, more research lead us to FoamOrder.com and their retail outlets including this store, Foam and Cushion. I called ahead to make sure they had the mattress I wanted to test (6" Talalay medium firmness) and was assured it was there and they were open until 6pm. I arrived at 5:15 and watched the employees put of the "closed" signs. They left the door open and it said they were open until 6:00 so we went in. They said it was a mistake that the closed signs were out (though I'd just watched them put them out?). I spoke with the same guy who answered the phone earlier that day and without apology he said that they did NOT have the medium firmness 6" but they did have the ($1200 more expensive) 9" version. The store was dirty (I'm usually okay with laying down on test mattresses but these clearly were rarely cleaned) and the staff were more interested in their gaming forums than in assisting us. My wife was disturbed by them so we left after only 5 minutes. While I had a relatively normal experience at Foamorder's San Francisco store, this store was not just a disappointment: the staff were deceptive, the test mattresses were dirty, and it is a store I would encourage anyone shopping for a latex or foam bed to avoid. I ended up at a nearby store (Community Mattresses) and the owner ended up giving me a better price on a nicer bed that he will custom make with the same latex but a much nicer cover. So I have the negative experience at Foam and Cushion to thank for that I suppose. read more

Repaired not only the foam but the zipper on the chaise cushion of my west elm sectional. My over eager golden retriever puppy had a snack on it one day and until I found this store I thought I would be getting a new couch. I came in with my wife to have a custom cushion cut for us for an upcoming holiday party we were hosting. The gentleman working the store that day was extremely helpful--he was conscious of our budget and gave us several price options. He brought out samples for us to test, and was generally a good guy to deal with. We made our decision and put in the order. The gentlemen mentioned that there would be no work done on Thanksgiving week (obviously), but that the week after that was fine. We paid up front. We received a call a few days later confirming the ready date. I show up on that day and, lo and behold, it's not ready! I believe I met the owner of the store that day, who placed the blame on the employee I originally spoke to, who apparently wasn't authorized to put in a direct order himself or something like that. There was also no effort to speed up the order. There was obviously a gap in communication between the owner and employee, which is understandable, but I thought the owner (I think?) could've handled it better. My sister and I decided to come to Foam and Cushion after reading the great reviews here on yelp. We were very pleased with the pricing and the level of service we received on our first visit. I went with an entire re-cushioning of my sectional couch and my sister bought a memory foam bed. We paid and left. Here is how/where the 5 STAR review was earned. Like most things in real life, stuff happens and it is not the fact the stuff happens, it is how you deal with it that defines you. After I took delivery on my couch, my wife said that she thought it was too firm. I ordered mid-level firmness, but knew it would take time to get used to. The owner called me to ask how I was enjoying the couch, I told him what my wife said, he said it might take some time, but that it was the best material possible and would last for many years. The next day He called me back and told me that a mistake had been made on the ordering, that we received extra firm foam, he said I should bring my cushions back and he would put the proper foam in, once it arrived. Needless to say, I was happy, my wife was happy, and I would never do business anywhere else.
