Great environment-don't see many kids-small bar area-beer only. Bring your own wine-cork fee is $3.50 each member. Waiting area inside with seating-outdoor area to eat. Business still booming after 30 years. Menu diverse-Cajun, steak, seafood-soup and salad. Dessert menu changes. Food mediocre-service above average.

A really great spot off the beaten path with a great view of the water. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious!

    Shrimp and grits!!

Our group really enjoyed eating at the cute Foglight Foodhouse just outside Rock Island State Park. We did have a bit of a wait, but we took some drinks outside under a cozy pavilion and talked of our day exploring the park. We were seated outside for our dining experience. Such a fun server who was very attentive to our groups' needs. Everyone got such tasty looking dishes, we just wanted to get a bite of each! My meal was a cup of their smooth crawfish bisque. Yum! Then a plate of tasty shrimp and grits! Seasoned just right! The splash of sherry just brought it all together! Very pleased with our time spent at the Foodhouse!

Sadly, unimpressive. Service was as decent as any, but food was extremely overpriced for the quality/amount of food served.

My husband had the New York, grilled asparagus and wedge salad... also delicious and cooked perfectly. Due to it being our anniversary, they offered us a free dessert... we had the Tres Leches and it was amazing! My only thing I'd suggest to the owners is some fresh baked bread served before dinner. The restaurant is simple, clean, historic and tastefully done. We were dressed up, but most folks there were casually dressed. Highly recommended...

As someone who dines out regularly in this area and truly enjoys supporting local restaurants, I…read morereally wanted this place to live up to its "high-end" positioning. Unfortunately, after two separate visits, it has consistently fallen short in both service and execution. For a restaurant where nothing on the menu is under $22, expectations are naturally higher. On both visits, our reservation was mishandled and we were seated in the bar area instead of the dining room, despite specifically requesting dining room seating. The open seating layout--no booths--combined with an open kitchen that vents directly into the dining space resulted in a smoky environment, and we left smelling like food each time, which is not what most diners expect from an upscale experience. Service pacing was another issue. We waited over an hour for our food, with no complimentary bread or salad offered--again, unusual for a restaurant at this price point. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing across the table. The $32 salmon was extremely dry and lacked flavor to the point that I couldn't eat it even though the server stated they only cook salmon medium which is the way I like it. The steak had burnt/charred dry edges and was supposed to be a 12oz NY strip. Look at the picture, I have never seen a NY strip this shape but my husband was ravenous so he didn't say anything and just ate it. The Brussel sprouts were mushy, and most concerning, my son's battered fish had raw batter inside. I believe in giving restaurants a fair chance, which is why we returned after the first visit. Unfortunately, two poor experiences signal a pattern, not a fluke. There are simply better options nearby--including Filo's and High Point--that offer better service, better food, and lower prices. I genuinely hope this restaurant improves, because the concept has potential, but as it stands, it does not deliver the quality or experience its pricing promises. For now, I'd recommend spending your dining dollars elsewhere.

We waited for 20 minutes past our reservation before we were seated in the noisier main room. Our waitstaff Tanner was a 12/10 - superb! Highlights included that once order was correctly received, it was executed well. Downside was that my husband's filet was seasoned when he asked no seasoning; salad came out with dressing on the side instead of having the kitchen lightly dress it. But once it was correct (2 hours past our reservation time) it was fabulous. Mushroom gratinee was delicious. Cesar salad was crisp and perfectly seasoned when lightly dressed. Originally my husband's filet was seasoned and over salted but 2nd chance was perfect. Asparagus was delicious. Dessert was comped and was great. Here's where they could improve: Ambience - the main room has no theme and is noisy. There are beautiful pictures of Center Hill Lake and they should capitalize on that. The room is noisy. Perhaps some artificial barriers of plants could improve. The use of "to go" serving dishes makes it feel less fine dining. They say they are a wine bar but have a very limited selection. They could easily expand their selection and become a true wine bar. We would go back and look forward to trying Ace's again.

Great food and service. It was our first time there and we will for sure be going back!read more

They did NOT disappoint!! I am officially hooked! From the moment we walked in, I could see and feel the sheer energy coming from the crowd and the ambiance: it already felt like great food and great people. It was packed to the brim for Wine Wednesday! They had one table available for two! Our server, Sarah, was outstanding!! She was sweeter than pie and extremely attentive! She always made sure we had exactly what we wanted when we wanted it. She advised sharing a bottle of wine since we wanted the same one, and since it was half price most wines. The young manager on duty delivered and uncorked the bottle, and she was just as sweet as Sarah! Her name escapes me, but I will find out the next time I go. The Spanish Tempranillo we tried was divine! It was perfectly balanced without being too dry or too tannic or too sweet. It was so smooth and thoroughly enjoyable to drink! For food, we started with the goat cheese bruschetta. It was perfection - rich in flavor and well balanced in the distribution of each component! From there, we tried the special of Steak Tips Au Pauvre - with a peppercorn wine sauce. We chose brussels sprouts as our side, and it also came with a side salad. We weren't too hungry, so we split it. Sarah even had the kitchen split both the salad and the main dish in half for us! The salad was so fresh (with ripe grape tomatoes!!) and the ranch dressing was classic and delightful. The wine sauce was everything I wanted it to be: rich, complex, thick, and buttery. It reminded me of the beautiful sauces you find on a steak or chicken dish at a sidewalk cafe in Paris. The dessert menu looked amazing, but we didn't have any room left. All I can say is you MUST try this place!!! If you can find Sarah, even better!
