Had pork ribs bbq and they were pretty good! They were tender and enjoyable. Sadly everything else we ordered was poorly done. Black beans side was mainly water with little beans and flavor. Maduros were stale/undercooked and plenty of burnt ones in the mix Short ribs were burnt, tough, and inedible. This place has been on my radar for quite sometime... First of all, try and be a little patient especially during the week. They seem to be a little understaffed then. Not as bad on the weekend. Stopped in for takeout on my way back from the area park at lunchtime, and noticed that they have a rather nice sized patio out back. For her a Bifanas ( pork) sandwich with side of fries. I went for a steak sandy also with fries. The Portuguese bread is excellent at this place. The pork is a tad bit spicy, as are the fries. Noticed a small sign out front about breakfast being served daily till 10:30. And yes they do delivery with Doordash. Next time I'll try the barbecue. Enjoy. read more

We used to order breakfast sandwiches from here ALL the time . They were always so good . We haven't ordered for a little while and said let's get some pork roll sandwiches even though my parents warned me the last time they got them there it was bad . I ordered anyway and instead of using a nice roll like they used too they used so soft bread like roll that was gross and cheap , they put 2 slices of the THINNEST slices of pork roll on it honestly it didn't even taste like pork roll to me . Fogo Express is a relatively new Portuguese restaurant to the area, so I wanted to give it a try. Walking into the dining room, the sitting area is very open with about 8-10 tables each accompanied by four chairs, with the back wall dominated by several large refrigerators housing a variety of drinks, and Fogo Express' dessert offerings. Onto the food........ I picked Combo#5 which pairs half a roast chicken & two beef ribs along with two sides, which I chose yellow rice and black beans. The chicken was grilled perfectly with the meat being very moist and the skin thin and super crispy. Another enjoyable element was the distinct charcoal grill flavor. Beef ribs were flanken cut (i.e. cut across the bone) leaving a nice symmetrical rib. The meat wasn't the most tender, but flavor-wise I loved the previously noted prominent smokey charcoal flavor. Yellow rice was fluffy, flavorful, and cooked to a nice tenderness. Black beans were nicely prepared; a tad salty but having a pleasant bite and were quite filling. My sister joined me for dinner, and for the full Portuguese experience she chose the Pichana dinner special consisting of three sizable steaks with two side dishes; choosing French fries and black beans. Each Pichana steak was nicely sized and laced with that desirable outer ribbon of fat. Cooked slightly under medium, it was tender and very flavorful. Needing something to cleanse our palette and contrast the proteins we added a garden salad with a plethora of vegetables; iceberg lettuce, carrots, green peppers, red onions, black olives, and tomatoes. No negatives of note; everything was fresh. Fogo Express looks to be a very solid addition to the area. read more

Firstly , I'll mention that I'm a huge fan of Brazilian bbq! And it's actually very hard to cook meat so it wouldn't be tasty. But if you like bbq, don't come here! I've got chicken bbq, beef ribs and French fries. The only reason why it's 2 stars and not one, is because chicken was ok. But ribs and fries were beyond disgusting!!! There is no way you can chew that ribs !!! Maybe dog could?! ‍ Fries looked and tasted like they were used from leftovers and reheated And I thought that during those whole pandemic thing, restaurants would do better not to lose clients and attract more... but not here! Happy to have Fogo Express so close by. I'm originally from Jersey City and the food options down where I am now is nowhere near comparable to JC. This restaurant is just like the churrasquerias easily found in Newark. Portions are big and very reasonably priced. I've only ordered from here 3x and each time, I've ordered a full order of ribs with rice and fries. The meat is flavorful and meaty, not fatty! It is literally good for 4 people and it only costs $17! Definitely my go-to when that bbq crave hits! read more

New owners yea!!!! i got a breakfast sandwich there shortly after the owners took over it was fantastic. Unfortunately last night I ordered from online, 2 orders of ribs and fries and 2 orders of Plantains. It came within 10 minutes wow I thought this is awesome. a huge large tray of ribs and an order of chicken. hmmm not my order. So I called up and let them know they said my order will be there shortly and to give back the other order, no big deal I know people make mistakes I get it. But what I received was a total of 7 ribs fries and 2 large orders of plantains in a small container. this cost me almost $60. WOW I had people over and needed to make sure I had enough food. 7 ribs was all I got. not only that they tough and very difficult to eat and didn't have much taste. Being Portuguese myself, I loveeeeee Portuguese food. We just moved to the area, so we were excited that we have a BBQ spot so close by. The staff is really nice and they have a parking lot, so you don't have to struggle to search for one. We've eaten here 4 times, so I feel it's time I leave a review since they've been around for over a year, but haven't been totally discovered by the public yet. This is definitely a mix of a take out and casual dining area. You can order food and they will bring it out for you, or if you want to order in advance for takeout, they will make sure the food is ready for you by the time you arrive. As far as the food, it's def good. They are most known for the picadinho, which I agree is great. I also realllly like the ribs, but they only give you 6 with the "large" order, which is actually pretty small compared to the size of 99% of Portuguese restaurants out there. I also like their rice (which I'm super picky about rice) but I do not like their French fries, lol. As far as desserts, my favorite is the tres leches cake; it's a must try! The carrot cake is runner up! Also, this seems to be more of a family owned business, so at times they may not deliver if they're backed up with orders. Takeout: Beef ribs with side of fries and veggies. Fries were crispy when we got home. Both fries and ribs were flavor-full and tasty. I recommend asking ribs to be cooked well done. There is more rendering of delicious fat that way. Leftovers the next day by reheating via toaster oven or air fryer was also very good. Ordered a whole chicken with fries yesterday. The chicken skin was slimy. I had to put chicken in the oven to cook a bit longer. I ordered full rack of pork ribs about a month ago and there were undercooked. Thought I'd just give them another shot. I wish I hadn't. More money down the drain. Figured we try this place tonight after hearing the food was good. Upon ordering pulled pork wraps we were advised that they do not have any wraps or pulled pork left for the day. We also went to order Mac and cheese.. yup you guessed it.. out of that also. My wife then ordered two pulled chicken sandwiches, and the staff had to ask if there was enough pulled chicken for two sandwiches. The counter staff were nice and pleasant. Maybe it was just that it was later in the afternoon but 6:30 PM is still dinner time for some of us. They are open until 9:00pm. There were several people that came in and attempted to order the food that they ran out of. Not a good way to start a business. When this place opened it was great. Lately they have messed up my pickup order 4 times out of 4. Not difficult orders. Just like a #1combo 2 chicken empanadas and 2 beef empanadas. Get home and WRONG again. Only beef everytime. At this point I'm sure it's intentional so I will NEVER order from there again and suggest if anyone does to check their food before leaving. This place is great with the exception of the one lady who works in the mornings. Her customer service sucks. If she's in the back doing something she doesn't acknowledge you when you come in. At times she's been at the counter prepping food and you could be standing in front of her and NOT even a "good morning...I'll be with you in a second". So when I reached home I noticed I did not have one of the dishes I purchased nor the sauce I requested. I went back to the restaurant with my receipt and the food that was given to me. I approached the staff member and explained the problem and she told me she had to get permission from the owner to give me the food that I paid for and did not receive. So after an unneccesary back & forth with the owner, who was extremely disrespectful by telling me to take the food and don't come back. WOW that is great customer service. My nephew found this spot and turned me on to it. The food is great. My favorites are the pork ribs and their chicken. Super flavorful and not salty. I've also had their garlic chicken super good. Picadiños are also awesome. We frequent Fogos a lot now and we've had food catered 2 times and our guests love it. You can eat in and byob or do take out. As far as deserts they are all good except the rice pudding can use a new recipe. Over all I still give them a 5. read more
