Decent food and price here! We live nearby and can't believe we haven't tried this spot. The employee is very friendly. I placed my order to dine in so we were told to give them 30 minutes to prepare the seafood paella and other dishes so we decided to go for a walk about the neighborhood to explore other businesses. By the time we head back, our food was ready. Everything was good and large portions for our family of four. We also had asked for containers to bring food home. Their bbq chicken is flavorful. We are definitely coming back.

1/4 BBQ chicken lunch special with rice & salad.

The chicken was moist and had a great flame grilled char on the skin. Ribs were moist and tender but just a bit fatty, still good. Love the chicken flavored rice, fluffy par boiled rice. Here's what took this take out order to the next level... they put the cold salad on top of aluminum foil.. to keep it from wilting with the hot chicken and rice. It's a basic salad, but it works!! Oh my heart.. I'm hooked. The BBQ sauce and hot sauce are ridiculously good... drinkable good (I won't judge lol). And it comes with a slice of bread, I need a loaf of this.. it's amazing. Tip if you order delivery service: the salad does not come with dressing so you will need to order it as a side (currently $0.50)

There are a few Portuguese BBQ spots in the area, but this one takes the cake. I ordered a whole chicken entree (a bbq churrasco dish) and it comes with yellow rice and French fries. My cousin ordered the half chicken entree (also served with rice and fries; see photos to compare the portions). This food was absolutely delicious. The chicken had a great charred flavor (not for everyone but I personally LOVE that). The rice tastes fresh and it was cooked perfectly. We ordered and picked it up. Although the food was hot and sealed, it did not make the French fries soggy at all. They were hot and crispy when we ate at my house (I live in Woodbridge township; idk why my profile says Jamesburg lol), and definitely worth every calorie. I ordered with my hungry belly and a whole chicken entree was far too much food for one person, but I'm glad I did because now I get to enjoy the food for dinner all over again today. It was also a great price for what you get. I paid under $25 for my order and it easily feeds 2 people. The spot is casual. You can eat in, carry out, or request delivery. Also, the menu is extensive. If you're in the mood for something else, they've got options. Whenever I'm in the mood for Portuguese food, this will be my go to spot.

However, the flavors were definitely there, which is what matters most. I tried the alcapurria, and while it was decent, I've had better. The chicken inside was a little dry and could have used more seasoning and flavor. On the other hand, the chicken empanada was really good. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and had a nice seasoned taste that stood out. That's definitely something I would order again. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of my lunch, but I also ordered pernil with rice and gandules, as well as baked chicken with rice and gandules. As someone who loves pernil, I have to say that Puerto Ricans make some of the best pernil. It's always well-seasoned, flavorful, and tastes clean rather than overly greasy. The pernil here did not disappoint. The rice and gandules were also very good. While it doesn't quite compare to my husband's aunt's homemade version, it was still packed with flavor and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would come back to try more items from the menu. If you're in the area and craving Puerto Rican food, I think it's worth giving this place a try.

The dining area is 'family style' which is kool! I got mine 'to go' because I miss my sofa. The food was onpoint!!! The bacalao and the rice had great flavor (5). I was too tired/sleepy to write a review after I ate. I will definitely return, maybe I'll give 'family style' a try.

We ordered a bunch of food, and everything was just okay. Same for the drinks decent, nothing special. I was actually going to rate it higher... until I saw roaches. That instantly changed everything and made me question the entire sanitation of the restaurant. I've been nauseous just thinking about it. Once you see one roach, you already know there are more and if you bring even one into your home, it becomes a nightmare to get rid of. Because of that, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Cleanliness is the bare minimum, and this totally ruined the experience.

A beautiful entrance with artificial flowers covering the walls, a heart of red flowers. Inside a collection of pottery resembling relics of pre-Columbian times. The menu was limited. I swayed between steaks, and decided on Puerquito, a dish for two. Slow roasted pork, rice & peas, onion escabeche, maduros. Delicious. I had left-overs for two more meals. An iced cold Presidente beer accompanied the meal. Service was pleasant and prompt by a young woman, Dayria. Music played in the background, not too loud, maybe because I was sitting at the front of the restaurant. An espresso to cap the meal was needed to End a good dinner. I left happy and full.

The potato ball had a flavorful beef filling, but the potato itself was a little bland and slightly over-fried. 8/10. The Dominican Cuban sandwich was just okay for me. I wasn't a fan of the cabbage, it was a bit messy to eat, and the pork flavor seemed a little off. 7/10. The yuca fries were outstanding--crispy, delicious, and even better with both the signature pink sauce and the cilantro garlic sauce. 9.5/10. I also tried the chicken, pork, and cheese empanadas. At $4.75 each, they're generously stuffed and a good value. The chicken and pork were both tasty but a little dry, so I'd give each an 8/10. The cheese empanada was my favorite--gooey and delicious, though it could use a touch more salt. 9/10. Both dipping sauces were excellent. The pink sauce had a classic Dominican mayo-ketchup base with garlic and a nice tang, while the green cilantro garlic sauce was fresh and flavorful. 9/10 for both. The restaurant feels more like a takeout spot than a dine-in destination. There is seating available, but the décor is pretty minimal. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the empanadas, fries, and sauces, and I look forward to trying more of the menu.

The restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other couple dining at the time. Shortly after we sat down, I noticed one of the cooks open the front door of the restaurant, look directly at us, throw his hands up in frustration, and begin mumbling under his breath. He then started moving large boxes into the restaurant. Since I speak Spanish, I understood some of what he was saying. He complained that there were plenty of other seats available and questioned why we had chosen to sit where we were. As I looked more closely, I realized the mirrors beside our table were actually sliding doors to a storage area. It became clear that he was upset because my wife and I were seated in front of it. Had someone simply approached us and politely asked us to move, we would have gladly done so. Instead, the cook continued making comments under his breath and staring at us while moving boxes. Once he finished, he walked past our table, gave me a dirty look, and called me a vulgar name in Spanish ( cara de mierda). At that point, I stood up and asked him, in Spanish, to repeat what he had said. Rather than addressing the situation, he immediately walked into the kitchen and refused to come back out. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable having my food prepared by someone who had just openly insulted me and my pregnant wife. We decided to leave without ordering. This was especially disappointing because we have visited before and always enjoyed the restaurant. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional and has likely cost them two longtime customers.
