We've been talking about visiting Fogwood & Fig for years. At first, we thought it was predominantly a dessert place based on their social media posts. But the more we looked into the menu, the more excited we became. I would say their specialty is burgers and sandwiches. Virtually every ingredient is made from scratch daily (except the sourdough bread, from a local farm), including impressive items like multiple types of burger patty and cheesy cashew sauce. We were so excited about their food that we went three days in a row! Day 1: The Fogwood smoky burger was outstanding. The BLT was also delicious; we loved the smoke salted tofu. For a lighter option, we got the sunshine curry quinoa chickpea bowl. It was healthy and nutritious, although I felt the flavor profile was a bit off; it was heavy on the curry powder and weirdly sweet. The side of mac and cheese was GREAT. We loved the sauce made from sweet potatoes, carrots, and cashews (I think it was oil-free). Not heavy or creamy, just flavorful and good! For dessert, we got the lavender almond cupcake which we LOVED. It was gluten-free, although you wouldn't guess it. It had a perfect fluffy texture and great nuanced flavor. We loved that it wasn't made with coconut oil (just olive oil). Truly special. The vast majority of their desserts (as well as their homemade cheeses) do contain coconut oil. Day 2: The patty melt sandwich was a big hit. Incredible flavor. The Levi Reuben served over greens (instead of on bread) was also delicious. We loved the fennel sage patty and the homemade sauerkraut. We got the kids' PB&J as a snack which was SO good with homemade peanut butter and homemade raspberry jam. Very impressive. Lastly, we couldn't resist getting the signature Snickers-inspired bar, which was so good it should be illegal. Day 3: We were excited to try their daily special, the teriyaki chili rice bowl, made with homemade ginger tofu patties. It was delicious, although it could have used some greens. We tried two more of their burgers to explore the menu further, the flirty burger and the teriyaki burger, and both were great. A devastating disappointment came when, even though we walked in within 10 minutes of their opening, they had already sold out of the special dessert advertised on their Instagram, the carrot spice cupcake with pecan glaze, the only dessert they had that was coconut-free. It seems like they inexplicably only make 4-6 cupcakes per day and then don't make more even if they sell out?! (Who does that??) Overall, we loved the food and are so glad they exist. Major props for making so many things from scratch. We really appreciated how nothing was fried or greasy, really hard to find these days. They also deserve special mention for having top-notch service. All the employees were so kind and accommodating, and every dish came out quickly and made to perfection. The vibe of the restaurant is really peaceful and would be an equally good spot to have a quick meal or to linger all day. read more

My wife and I travel from Warwick NY to get to this place, which is around a 30 minute drive. Since the first time we tried this place, the owners and staff were incredibly nice and friendly. The place is amazingly clean, and the food is absolutely AWESOME!! I'm not nor will I ever be a vegetarian, but I really enjoy the food here. I've driven through Port Jervis multiple times. It finally occurred to me that Port Jervis probably had some food businesses worth visiting. Fogwood & Fig, with an overall 5 Star rating in Yelp, really popped from my Search Results. So I stopped for takeout on my way home from a short family trip. F&F identifies in Yelp as a vegetarian restaurant. I'm not a vegetarian, but I appreciate vegetarian meals crafted by talented people. I ordered the "Fogwood Smoky Burger", a lemon and ginger iced tea and a black iced coffee. The plant-based burger was made with smoky black lentils and mushroom. It was stacked with cashew based cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, spicy house pickle, chipotle lime mayo and coconut crisps on a good bun. It was a great looking fully loaded burger, which is part of the joy in eating a burger. It tasted very good too. I'm no expert on plant-based burgers, but this seemed like very good quality. All the toppings worked well together. The housemade spicy pickles were acidic and flavorful. The lemon ginger tea was very satisfying too. I'm not usually a hot coffee drinker, but the black hot coffee was pretty good too. The restaurant was small but cool. All of my interactions with the F&F crew were very positive. They went above and beyond in helping me juggle my drink and water orders. They even gave me an extra water when they understood it was for my dog. Honestly happy they were because I can easily digest real and true sour dough bread. This bread was INSANE YUM! And it didn't bother my tummy whatsoever! Before I went plant-based, I used to love Reubens. THE best Vegan Reuben EVER created. The service and staff are all incredibly friendly and the place is in a beautiful location of Port Jervis with many shops around. This was our first time visiting Fogwood & Fig and let me say it was delightful! We both got the special, grilled pineapple BBQ burger... wow! Flavors were amazing We also got the potato salad side and side salad... both flavorful and delicious. Now we don't often get desserts, but they had some homemade goodness! We tried one of each and they were fantastic... even brought a few home! We got to meet the owner Jeff and had a nice conversation... great guy! We will definitely be back! This fully vegan spot deserves 10 stars! Everything we tried was 10/10 and the service was great as well. The portions were good and the taste was phenomenal. Lord help me! Why don't we have one of these restaurants in the five boroughs. This is the best vegan burger, you can't compare it to no other establishment. I repeat! You can not compare their vegan burgers to any restaurant. If you know of one, please send me a message and the address for me to compare. They make their own burgers, everything is fresh and they have vegan baked deserts too. Oh! The bun on the burger was so soft, that it just melts in your mouth. It's not a skinny burger either and I came out with a full stomach. No french fries on the menu. However, the burger is so delicious that you won't miss it. One of my favorite places to visit on the weekends. They aren't open during the week, but it just makes me crave it more when the weekend rolls around! They have a great menu, with some seasonal rotating items to try! They are the friendliest staff! The girl at the front counter is so sweet. And they always seem excited to be there. The food is delicious. That being said, whenever I come here with my daughter who is a child with celiac disease , they give me a very hard time with substitutions for her. She always wants the tofu blt and like clockwork they say gluten free buns are only for burgers. They refuse to replace the bread with gf bread for this sandwich. Even though they will for the burgers. It's so strange. So my husband gets very upset and tries to make it work. "Ok, can we have the sandwich with no bread at all"? (He will give her his bun from his burger). " No we can't do that. " Ok, can we just buy an extra GF bun a La carte?" No we can't do that. But here's the kicker, they offered to give me one of the burgers and replace the patty for tofu. Lmaoo I can't. Ok sure, I'll play this game. Super stressful and we're usually annoyed by the time the food comes. But then it's all so yummy that I come back next time forgetting about the GF bun game. I write this review only to let the owners know that small changes make a big difference for your customers that love the food and will go out of their way to travel to you. OH YES! I was meeting a friend halfway to get together for lunch. We live about two hours apart and Pert Jervis falls right in between. My friend, knowing I am a vegetarian, found Fogwood and Fig and we could not be more pleased! My friend had the Patty Melt and I had the Korean BBQ sandwich. We split an order of Mac and Cheese. Now, understand, everything is plant based. This is a VEGAN restaurant, so when I say cheese, I am saying a vegan substitute... That out of the way... OH MY! the food was delicious! My freind loved the patty melt and we both enjoyed the Mac and Cheese and the Korean BBQ sandwich was just fantastic. Top this off with two extremely friendly people staffing the restaurant and you have one really enjoyable lunch experience. Though it is an hour from me, I will be back. Wow, what a delightful gem to randomly find! I was coming back from the Poconos and this showed up as a vegan option along my route. I am so glad I stopped in. I got a delicious smoky burger on a gluten-free bun and I was in heaven. The only bummer was they had no GF baked goods that day. But oh man! This was the best veggie burger I've ever had, and I've had...so many. It was so flavorful and the sauces were delicious and all the toppings were great. I was in heaven. And the bun was great too! I was nervous they would be super busy given they are only open on weekends but at 1pm on a Sunday they had a few open spots and I was able to sit outside. Every time I've eaten here the food has been amazing. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian but I love good food in general, so it doesn't matter to me whether it has or doesn't have meat. The staff here are always pleasant, calm and attentive. The food comes out extremely fast, and the decor is cute and cozy. It's a small place but I've always been able to have a seat. The photo attached are tacos that were on their specials for the day, and they were so seasoned. They were more than enough if you're moderately hungry and if you're starving they also have sides on their menu you can try. I've been extremely full every time I've eaten here and love catching them when they're open. My only complaint is they aren't open during the week! read more

Ate here tonight. All I can say is Wowzer. I am not vegan, vegetarian, dairy free and I thought the food was great. Had Smokey burger. A winner. Wife had patty melt. Also outstanding. Cheesy Quesadilla - was good, not particularly "cheesy" yet still nice with sriracha giving it a kick. Finished with Chocolate cream cake which was more like pie - name aside it was really good too. First time here after we did a search for vegan eateries. We took a ride over from Rockland County. The next time we'll do some hiking or check out some farms in the NJ/PA area and grab a bite here again. We ordered 2 sandwiches, Mac and cheese and the chocolate cake and two ice teas. One word to describe the food quality and service=AMAZING! We love the fresh and homemade ingredients. Love the decor and feels homey and inviting. Wow...just wow. I fell in love with the food, people, and interior of this restaurant. It's one of those places in a small town that you look forward to visiting when you had in that direction. Fogwood & Fig is a hidden vegan treasure-- my cousins and I stopped here after a tiring day xc skiing up in Highpoint. Don't be fooled- a meat lover would be happy here too (as my cousin advocates)! Covid precautions: they have 3-4 indoor tables all distanced appropriately with glass pane windows up between tables for further precaution. The owners are masked up and the place is very clean. Definitely felt safe dining indoors here. Menu and $- the menu is pretty diverse and focused mainly on sandwiches/burgers, plates, and bowls. They have sides and rotating daily desserts. We ordered the rueben, the smokey burger, the Paloma bowl, and the patty melt. The sandwiches and burger had the same patty I think but all were pretty delicious and so fresh. The bread the sandwiches came with was just incredible but of all the main dishes, the burger was the winner. The Paloma bowl, in my opinion, was not worth it. I could imagine it being more satisfying or tasty if it had more of a bite to it like crispy tofu and if it was served warm. The Mac n cheese had a homey-ness to it that really hit the spot on a cold and tiring day- I especially loved the grandma style bowl it came in! Finally, the holy orange sesame cheesecake. No words. Just wow. Prices: you're looking at about $10-$13 per sandwich or burger which is not as pricey as it could be for hip, vegan fare. Places in Brooklyn like this can certainly be a few dollars pricier. Portions are fair but not huge and don't come with a side. The food feels indulgent enough but one entree won't necessarily stuff you up. Overall, our bill came to about $70 for 4 entrees, a side, and a dessert and the three of us were stuffed with that additional entree. Pretty solid bang for buck! Hospitality: lovely owners who serve you as well. Friendly, down to earth, and willing to lend you recommendations. I could bring carnivores here and they would have no clue their grilled cheese mushroom melt was vegan. The carnivores that do notice would probably begin to see some irrelevance in eating animal products. I don't mean carnivores like stegasauruses (stegasauri?) but like people.
