I had one of the very best falafels ever at Holyoke Hummus Company. Yes, that is how I'm starting…read moreoff my review. Believe the hype, even if the surrounding neighborhood doesn't seem the most inviting; the food is worth it. We walked in probably fifteen minutes before their closing time, and still we were treated exceptionally well by the owner, he really made us feel at home. My goal was to try as many items as possible so we got the fries, the Israeli salad, the original falafel sandwich, and the lentil soup which we all sampled off each other, and there really wasn't a single item that we didn't love. The star however was the falafel sandwich. It was incredibly flavorful, full of the Mediterranean spices you'd except from an authentic dish that hasn't been toned down to cater to the american palette, and I loved it; every single bite. I have to add that even though I didn't load a picture of it, I had also ordered the house made chai latte which the owner was kind enough to add almond milk instead of dairy, and that too was really good, I recommend that as well. For me, the cherry on top of this wonderful food experience was that they have games; yes like board/card games. My brother and I relived our youth playing connect four while we waited for our food, and I can't reiterate enough what a wonderful experience this was and I definitely plan to return.

If you're ordering drinks, they usually will call your drink out at the bar. I was surprised that they didn't have chips n salsa as a complimentary snack for the table while the food is being made. I'm assuming it's due to this not really being a seated restaurant, where a server takes down your order. They have chips n guac available for purchase. The guac actually tastes delicious. I ordered la Sopa Azteca, it wasn't too bad...if you don't like too many oils in your soup I wouldn't purchase. I ordered the Plato Durango for my entree, as well as a side of rice, and to be honest, the entree wasn't even that warm when it was brought to me. I didn't enjoy it much. It's also incredibly expensive, my meal was $35 for just the soup, rice, and entree.

If you want good, authentic Mexican, go somewhere else. Let's start with the chips. They were cold,…read moreand they even charged for them. The salsa, while having a large variety, all lacked in flavor, seasoning, and spice. The chicken enchiladas tasted like water somehow. They are made with corn tortillas that just fell apart at just the first bite. The burrito bowl was the saddest thing I have ever seen. I mean, it was simply lettuce and chicken with unmelted, cold queso. The Pollo Ala Veracruzana was DRY. DRY. The tortillas were not properly warmed and felt like it had been sitting for a while. For our shrimp cocktail, it was too thick with not enough juice, filled with more onions than shrimp. On top of that, they gave us tortilla chips rather than saltine crackers. The seating was awful inside, and everything just felt off. However, they somehow perfected the rice.

After driving past Buns on Wheels for the past few months I decided that it was time to try it out…read more This little food truck located in front of D & D Auto Parts has a decent menu ranging from hot dogs and burgers to kielbasa and Portuguese bifanas. The woman working in the truck didn't really engage much, but she made an incredible hamburger and order of fresh cut french fries. From the time I order until the time I started stuffing my face was under 5 minutes. I was surprised how delicious my food was and happy that I decided to stop. It was nice to sit at their picnic table to eat especially since it was so warm out. The only awkward part was that they were so close to the main road, and I felt like I was on exhibit. Overall, this is a great food truck which is super clean and makes a ton of great food. You need to give it a shot if you are in the street food mood.

This lady is off-the-boat Portuguese and makes Bifanas to order. These are Portuguese pork cutlet sandwiches and hers are first rate. She's got pork marinating and throws it on the griddle with onions, peppers and garlicky butter sauce (I believe, you can barely understand her so I'm not sure!) which are finished with cheese on a squishy roll. It's customary to slather this up with some hot sauce and it is DELICIOUS. For about $7 you can combo it with some very ordinary fries from the freezer and a soda. I've been grabbing these by the handful for years whenever I have out of town guests and they never disappoint. I'm less impressed by her chourico so I just stick to Bifanas. She'll offer you a loyalty punch card that you should grab to earn your free sandwiches. Like any good food truck you'll find a small line of people out front on any given day in any weather. Don't just drive by her on the rotary in the center of town, stop and get your Bifana on!
