It was a dreary Saturday evening when my fiancée and I attempted to order a pizza from Folk. We called to place an order for pickup, but we were justly dismayed when we were told that they were not accepting any takeout orders due to some sort of COVID-related restriction. My fiancée and I were justifiably upset, but our desire to try Folk remained steadfast. Undeterred, I came up with a rather diabolical plan. It is in this very review that I shall reveal my masterpiece. My fiancée and I arrived unassuming, shortly before closing on this very Saturday eve. We sheepishly asked for a seat, and when the server came to our table, we informed them that we already knew the order we desired. Immediately, we placed the order. The pizza arrived shortly after, and I informed the server that we must depart immediately and requested a box for the pizza. The server willingly acknowledged our request, and provided us with a boxed pizza and a check. We quickly completed the bill, and walked away with Folk none the wiser of our diabolical plan. Came here before for a business meeting and had great service and food. Came back today for casual dinner without a reservation and the host would not seat me without my guest. Which would make sense if the place was full but it is quite empty. Also, no place to sit but the bar and I'm not drinking tonight. Not well thought out. I had gotten takeout from Folk during the first round of Covid, but this was my first time eating inside, and it completely met and surpassed my expectations. Great ambience - classy but fun all at once - and our wait staff were all fantastic. There were three of us and we ordered one dish from each section, which worked out perfectly. The melon with prosciutto, squash with ricotta and chicken Milanese with green tomatoes were all creative and *such* tasty ways to use what's in season here now. The only reason that I am giving this place is due to the food. The red shrimp had great flavor, but other than that, the food is nothing to write home about. Our waitress Jacqueline M was uninviting and did not really feel welcoming. Our questions seemed to bother her and she did not really care to give us recommendations. After we finished our meal, she handed us our bill but then proceeded to chat with her friends for a good 20 minutes before we could pay our bill and leave. My boyfriend and I ate our way through Nashville last week and visited Folk TWICE because we so enjoyed our first visit. The atmosphere is lovely, the cocktails are delicious, and the pizza is perfect in every way. Wonderful. Great space in a part of town we have never been. Easy to get to as well. Started with Shrimp, Crab and the Fennel Peach salad. All 3 inventive, perfectly seasoned and excellent. Had the Golden Tomato pizza. Outstanding. Finished with 2 desserts: Neopolitan and Tiramisu. The ice cream wins hands down. Neither were overly sweet, as it should be. Service was 5 Star. INCH WORM AND BLACK BEETLE IN LETTUCE: I am usually not one to write reviews, but people should know this. My family and I came to Folk for my birthday, and my partner and I ordered the chicken dinner for two. The chicken comes with lettuce to create lettuce wraps. As I was eating, my brother pointed to my knife on my plate. There was an inch worm crawling up the knife. I showed it to our server, and she said she would bring it to the manager. I then looked at the rest of my lettuce. As I turned one over, a black beetle fell out. We also showed the manager this. Her response, "We wash the produce, but sometimes they hold on". I wish I was making this up, but I am not. They did not comp anything, and we spent $250 for that meal. As we walked out, no one said anything. I get that farm to table comes with certain issues, but this was not only handled extremely poorly, but I should not have found a worm and a beetle in my food. read more

Very disappointing experience. I brought a group of friends here because I had heard good things, but was very underwhelmed. Customer service was very bad to keep it short. Horrible ending!! Excellent start of experience from Rudy the bartender to Joseph the server. Food was great. After we finished dinner, Redhead manager made it clear our time was up. From the passive aggressive "ok, have a god night" after she cleared our table 3 times (she wasnt our server), she staight up asked us to leave because "they had people waiting." Really??? NEVER have I ever been asked to leave a restaurant after finishing a meal. Maybe there were 4 people at hostess stand. We spent $300 plus bought a $100 gift card for a friend. We were preparing to leave in the next 10 minutes. Was kicking us out really worth 10 minutes? No words to express our disappointment after having a great meal. Great ambiance. Great vibes. The food is not at the same level as Rolf & Daughters, but there are some good apps. Shishito peppers were delicious. Mushroom toast was so flavorful and yummy. Blue crab was not anything special. The speck Americano was untouched, not worth it. The main reason for the rating is the service. Our server never introduced himself. He never checked in after our apps came out. We waited for over 20 minutes with empty drinks and cleaned plates. No one came until we ready to leave. Very poor service! read more

Beautiful space full of plants, high ceilings, just a lovely refinished building. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive and the hostess didn't give us crap for being five minutes late to our Tuesday night reservation. Parking was ok, but I did have to walk a couple of blocks since the street has been held for residents directly across from the restaurant. I brought my parents and daughter, and their central New York palettes found the menu a little less accessible than they usually go for. The chicken liver jam toast was delicious but not super chicken livery. My daughter and mom murdered the pepperoni- ish pizza and my dad I enjoyed the speck. After hearing so much buzz about Folk we decided to give it a try. We had such high expectations for our meal but it just didn't measure up. The restaurant itself is a warm inviting space, rustic and modern located in the up and coming McFerrin Park neighborhood. We decided to skip cocktails, the menu did look interesting but we weren't up for $14 drinks. We started by sharing the fennel peach salad- shaved fennel bulb with four or five small pieces of peach and shaved cheese. The flavor was well balanced, but small and didn't justify the $13. Next we shared the pineapple pizza with tomato, mozzarella, red onion and chili. The crust was good, it had the chewy slightly charred "fresh from the pizza oven" texture we were looking for. But sadly the pizza itself left us wanting more, toppings were scarce and the pizza was kind of dry. We were left wondering what all the buzz was about. The menu seems to be arranged in a way that all items are ala carte so you're encouraged to order several courses and share. Since neither of us are meat eaters there were no mains we could try.
