Who doesn't love a good promotion!

Super cute little yoga studio. The staff is super nice. Arielle greeted me when I walked in. She was super knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions! They have a promo right now and it's very fair pricing! Shoes off at the front lobby

Came here after the recommendation from a few friends. There's another yoga studio near my house so my first thought was "why would I want to take MUNI to go to another studio that's further away?", but I did and I'm glad that I did! Each studio (like each teacher) has a different style and personality. A few things that stood out to me already in the times I've visited is (again, just compared to my experiences at other studios, yoga and otherwise): - Sense of community: I will admit, right before my first class with Roy I was feeling she in the new studio and more than a bit apprehensive as it was my first "hardcore" class since pandemic started, but the front desk staff (sorry, didn't catch the name!) was so friendly and welcoming. During the class, Roy knew my and other students' (regulars I assume) names, which really helped with feeling "seen" in a large class - Didn't feel too "strict": I (unfortunately) was a little late for a class due to poor weather and delayed transit, but there were no issues with entering the class late but quietly. - Mat storage: I don't take advantage of this since I like to visit different places, but my understanding is that membership students can store their mat at the studio - a nice perk! - YTT: I haven't taken teacher training here, but am considering it. I went to the open house to learn more and also followed up via email with my additional questions, and have liked everything I've heard so far. Administratively they have multiple trainings with different focus/styles/leveling which seem fun/informative even if you have no intention of becoming an instructor. Can't wait to be back for more - if you try it, yoga'na love it too ;)

Your 1-min-late we-take-your-25-dollars & give-you-sass late policy is wack. But great job epitomizing SF's pretentious bullshit.

The entire time I was at the studio and after, I felt like the staff was hounding me to commit to a membership. While I get that it's normal for fitness studios to reach out for post-class feedback, Ritual Hot Yoga exhausted my patience with their incessant texts and emails. I was literally getting spammed with notifications. Apart from the incompetent administrative staff, the class was delivered at such a rapid pace using esoteric jargon rather than industry standard terminology that I could not keep up and transition quickly enough, and the instructor failed to check on me throughout class. Also, since the room was really dark, it was difficult to see and copy others' movements, and the instructor walked around and often stood at the back of the room instead of demonstrating the movements at the front of the class. Worst class ever. I left Ritual Hot Yoga feeling like I hadn't worked out at all despite it being a hot class, so I immediately went to the gym afterwords to get in an actual workout. Ritual Hot Yoga wasted both my time and money. I will never return and have de-influenced my friends from coming here.

That said, I wasn't a big fan of the carpeted floors, as they don't seem the easiest to keep clean. My biggest takeaway, though, is that the class didn't really feel like Pilates. To me, Pilates is more about slow, controlled movements, intentional engagement, and strength-focused work. This class felt more like a series of random movements that didn't align much with that style. It leaned heavily into cardio, felt repetitive at times, and wasn't very engaging. It was also extremely hot, and there was a noticeable, somewhat unpleasant smell in the room.

I'm on a pilates class kick trying lots of different studios and classes in the 'hood. I took Hot Pilates (60 minutes) with Sean and it was amazing! It's the best class I've taken through Classpass this year and it's mat pilates--no machine. Classes seem cheaper than some bougie studios nearby. Funky Door isn't pretentious, but it's a very good workout. I loved the heat--it really made the class stand out. The instructor Sean was hilarious, personable, fun, and funny. Attendees seem more diverse in terms of age, gender, background, ethnicity, and body than at other pilates studios I've tried recently which is extremely refreshing. I will be back! The lockers don't have locks, but many people use them anyways. The interior is funky, eccentric, and real--a nice change-of-pace from the overly-clean, modern, and sterile typical reformer pilates studios (although they should definitely be clean if we are going barefoot!) I wasn't even mad that it was unclear (from Classpass--always blame Classpass, that's why I only do their free trial) that I needed to bring my own mat and towel. I paid $5 for their mat (which doubled as a towel) and it was necessary because some people who brought their own mats were slipping on them from the sweat and having trouble doing different poses! The guy next to me had to switch to the floor which, even though it's no-shoes in the studio, is definitely not sanitary and I would never! Will be back!
