I can handle all types of cuisines but there is one food staple I cannot miss, and that is rice. For this reason, I always look for Asian or Latin American restaurants (I can only do so much mac n cheese or fries). I came to this fonda (humble food restaurant) hoping for some good rice as a side, but boy, I was surprised by the food. I have to say, the amount of food I got was more than I expected. Additionally, it was very good. I ordered a "bandeja paisa", picked it up at the back of the restaurant where the bar sits. On the way out, I walked by the bakery which was full of goodies. We have been coming here now for about a year and the food never disappoints. Price is fare with the now going rates of inflation. I cannot recommend this place. I will NEVER come back here. They managed to completely ruin New Years Evening for my husband and myself. There was an 80.00 seating fee, which we expected and paid in advance. During our time, we ordered one bottle or whiskey. We were expecting maybe a 100.00 bill or something. As a Colombian any time a new restaurant opens we have to go and support! We were not disappointed at all with any part of our experience! First the atmosphere is your traditional Colombian village! Perfectly decorated to the smallest detail and the servers were dressed in our traditional dresses. Always smiling and with recommendations. The food was definitely just like at home, we had to try the traditional Maracuya margarita which were delicious. For food we got morcilla which is a blood sausage very common. And of course the must have bandeja paisa. They say they turn the place into a dancing club Friday and Saturday nights so I can't wait To try it out! 10/10 read more

First time getting to try this fonda that I hear all the rave about from other fellow Colombians! Came in for dinner on Sunday night. I was honestly surprised with how spacious this place is! I've heard of the original location in Medellin, but have yet had the privilege to go. I love the decor; the typical Colombian style brick roofs with balconies, the wood tables/chairs, and let's not forget the church with El Niño Jesus to top it off. I love seeing the employees in the traditional wear, which adds more of our culture to the place. Now for the food, I ordered chicaharones (fried pork belly) with an arepa for an appetizer; what looked like a small portion was actually great to share with another person. The chicharones were cut nicely, fried to a nice texture, and I enjoyed the sticks to help pick at the pieces. For my entree, I had the bistec encebollado, which was a huge plate.. I actually took half of it to go! The steak was cooked deliciously, it was freshly cooked and soft when I cut into it. The plate came with a side of rice, yuca fries, and Colombian style cole claw. I paired my lovely yuca fries with a combination of sauces they provide you; a typical Colombian spicy sauce (think of like a pico de gallo), chimichurri, salsa rosada (like mayoketchup), and a white garlic sauce (to die for). I paired everything with a Jugo de maracuya, I chose to mix it with water since I can't have milk (but always do milk if you're tolerant you won't be disappointed). Overall, our server was very kind. I would say service takes a bit, but your food comes out fresh! I love the guascas, vallenatos, and modern Latin music that they play. Also, I was so amazed at how the lights start blinking and changing when they're singing happy birthday, definitely a fun touch. Came here on a Saturday night for a friends birthday and had a blast! The inside is like a piece of Medellin with the decorations, and the DJ was great. He played a lot of traditional Colombian music but had a good variety of other music as well. They had tons of balloons for the crowd and cool lighting effects, it was really high energy and lots of fun. Service was attentive throughout the night as well too. Only issue was they didn't have the right number of chairs for our reservation and completely forgot the birthday decorations that were discussed prior but they solved the problem on the spot. read more

This review is for Dulce Jesus Mio Ocala. We've been here 3 times now and I'm not sure it's worth going back. Each time the servers have been really friendly but English is not their first language so it was difficult ordering and getting questions answered. The appetizers aren't worth it as they are more like a tasting plate, without a lot of food and each time was just brought out with toothpicks, not flatware. The food is tasty and has a good portion size, no one left hungry, but other than the super paisa, I don't think 2 adults could split an entree. It seems that most of the entries on the menu are the same few ingredients just served slightly differently. For example, the differences in the cazuelas were one had beans while the other had blood sausage instead and there were like 3 others to choose from as well. Not bad but it would have been easier to have a base and then people could add the things they wanted rather it being (to us) a random assortment. The steak was a bit on the chewy side and the blood sausage was very dry. The chorizo was my favorite but the corn cake may as well have been a coaster for all the texture and flavor it had. The steak entrees (as opposed to the ones mixed in with other ingredients) are served on a sizzling hot, cast iron plate and will continue to cook as you eat, so you'll probably want to order a lower temperature than normal as we got a medium steak that was well done by the halfway point. Drinks are probably my biggest nit-pick. There's a full bar but when we asked for water, were only offered bottled (costing $2.50). There was no tea at all and soft drinks did not come with refills. I was surprised to get the bill and see each $2.50 drink charged separately. They also have Coke Zero but it's served by the can, not even out of their fountain. The sangria varies wildly, with the first time being probably the best around and this last time being more along the line of something you'd get from a grocery store. Overall the atmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. Though not everything is worth eating and drinks are a rip-off. read more

Was excited to celebrate my birthday dinner here. Service was slow, the servers were rude and un attentive. They laughed at questions that were asked. Food was not hot and over priced. You are only allowed 1 refilled soda from a fountain machine! You request for a cup of water and they bring you a bottle water and your charged for that water. On social media they advertise Happy hour with some good delicious pictures of drinks. The only happy hour drink is a watered down slightly yellowish glass of nasty Margarita. They call the basic lime Margarita. They add gratuity to the check. We had it removed as to the service was horrible. Server also messed up on 2 meals. This restaurant just opened in Orlando. This place is a restaurante by day and a club at night. It was my cousins birthday and she wanted to go there for her. We had called a couple of days before days before you reserve since we were going to be around 15 people. I was the first one to get there from our party. When I walked in my first impression was that I love the decore!!!! There are other Dulce Jesus Mío's I have been to the original one in Medellin and loved it, but that one is only a club. What came next was very disappointing. I waited at the door for about 5 mins. There was no one at the door to great you and servers walked by us and didn't even acknowledged us. I had to go and walk up to the bar before someone even spoke to me. Second they said they couldn't find the reservation, but if we could wait a minute they would accommodate us. We sat in the waiting area. Then 2 other large parties came in and same thing. It was a couple of minutes before they acknowledged them as well and couldn't find their reservation. After about 10 mins they finally sat us down. It took another 15 mins before someone came with menus and then another 20 mins before they took our drink order. By that time we knew what we wanted. Our server was great she had no help dealing with a couple of big parties. Some of our orders were messed up and some of the food came out before others. I had already finished my food before my sons food came out. The food was good and drinks were great. At about 7pm they closed the doors and started setting up for the club. When we walked outside there was already a line ready to get in, maybe I will try going there one night and see how it goes. read more
