To start, I rarely will rate below a 2 stars, but this was not it. I was highly anticipating this…read morerestaurant because my paragliding guide, who has lived here forever, recommended it, but Interlaken surely has a few better Swiss food options and this is not one of them. If you care about the actual food, skip this place. I care about food far more than service, and this place was a huge disappointment. I ordered the beef stew, which my waitress recommended, and the meat was unbearably dry and chewy, not even the gravy could save it. Seriously, it was the worst-quality beef I can remember having at a restaurant. The Pinot Noir was excellent, but that was the only highlight. I had a reservation for 9 and showed up early at 8:45. On the phone they had said the kitchen closed at 9:30, but when I arrived no one attended my table until 8:58, when the waitress rushed over and told me the kitchen closes at 9. Meanwhile, the table next to me placed their order at 9:15 without issue. There was no silverware on the table, and I was never checked on once after my food arrived, which was very frustrating. The most frustrating part is that my meal for one person, including the dish and two glasses of wine, was $50 Franks. For that price, I expect far better quality. I expect better, truly. Please refer to photos for the dry beef stew meat.

I had a truly delicious roasted garlic soup...I am determined to find a recipe ...and a Cordon Bleu which is Switzerland appears to consistently done with pork, not chicken breast. Nancy had the bratwurst platter with hashed browns which seemed to me to be like the rostis we have seen else. Son Sam had a beef stew and Nafisa the lamb shanks. The kids menu had a chicken schnitzel but no chicken nuggets; fish fingers were ordered for them and that didn't work out well

Walking in, the room felt welcoming like you were a guest at a country home. Once seated in the…read morerustic wooden table and chairs we were presented with the menus that had some English translations but was primarily in Swiss German. The issues began when the gruff, stressed woman attempted to take our orders but couldn't answer any of our questions as her English was basically nil. We ordered a couple drinks and she returned for out order as we continued to struggle with the menu. She huffed and stood there actually tapping her finger on the table. We asked for the fondue and she asked 2 or 4 portions. We didn't know how large it was so we got it for 4 and it was huge but only came with bread... no potatoes, meat, veggies, etc. as we had heard was traditional. Then she took our menus away as though we were done but we wanted the fondue as a sort of appetizer, not our only meal, especially since it only came with bread. We hesitantly ordered a couple of dishes, beef tongue and a schnitzel plate and it was nothing like we expected . The beef tongue was tough and in a brown gravy as was the schnitzel which I expected to be breaded and fried. Our 2 friends only ordered 1 salad. We really should have left when we realized the communication gap was so problematic but I basically would leave this place for the locals.

It wasn't crowded when we went, it was very laid-back & chill with a few locals in there. Server was super nice, patient, and made us feel welcomed. She helped us out with which options were the best. I ordered a veal schnitzel, which was very delicious and piping hot. The breading was very light, buttery, and crispy. It wasn't oily. The veal was nice and tender. I like that the food wasn't too salty. The seasoning on the crispy fries were also very good. I also got to try the fondue, which was very delicious. To my surprise, it had a little bit of liquor in it, which gave it a nice deeper nuttier taste. The lamb was nice and tender and the accompanying vegetables weren't overcooked. This meal was filling, delicious and for a good price. looking at reviews of other restaurants in the area, there was a concern for quality and service. But this place was a nice cozy restaurant with great service and even better food. I would recommend if you're in the area and want to get away from some of the more busier places .
