We wanted taking pictures one less thing to worry about. We got to searching and my wife found Lux. They seemed pretty decent so we gave them a shot. I really was not expecting much... I just need all the pictures that they could take that we can look back to years from now. The day of the party came, Spike and his videographer (sorry I forget his name) were there ready to go. I was surprised with their game plan. They literally were like ninjas, blending in the crowds and our guests didn't notice they were there while taking pictures and videos. Pretty awesome. But also, when we need them to take over and gather guests up for some group photo-ops, they made sure they got everyone. I was all over the place at the party that day so I didn't really get to manage them much or tell them to capture this and that... I just let them do their thing. After the party, we waited about a week and a half to get the pictures and videos. Spike's estimate was 2 weeks so he was early. I was so pleasantly surprised about the results. The pictures are amazing! Most of the captured moments were candid and it really takes me back to the party everytime I look at them. The short video was also very nicely done. The song they picked was right on and I think I watched it over 100 times. No joke and I'm not exaggerating. I would upload it here if it wasn't too big. Hiring Lux to capture our daughter's 1st birthday party was just another idea from the many that we thought of to make the party happen, but what we got from Spike and his team is something that is priceless: BEAUTIFUL memories from the party that will last us years, even decades. I honestly had no idea what to expect when working with a professional photographer but her service was exceptional. She's super friendly, easy-going, efficient, and communicative. Everything went unbelievably smoothly. We had Elyana for 2 hours during our elopement and she made it so fun and easy to be in front of a camera. She provided a lot of much-needed direction and our session went by so quickly and smoothly. She even helped grab my veil when I forgot it in my suite! I'm not photogenic so I was nervous about looking like a total derp after many wonderful vendors had put so much work into my hair, makeup, dress, and florals... But her artistic sense and prompting really made for some amazing pictures. She works fast! Sneak peeks and full gallery were received well before their promise dates. The hair and makeup artist was able to follow my vague instructions and helped customized my overall look, including jewelry choices. She also stayed throughout the shoot for touch-ups, and even helped with posing. Sam's knows what angles to shoot and which lighting works. He guided us through the poses and was able to wrap up our shoot earlier than estimated even though I usually find myself very awkward in front of the camera. I also appreciated that they provide all of the digital files, including the 500+ raw ones. When I wasn't a fan of the initial editing style, Sam was very receptive to my feedback and revised the photos quickly. The reason for 4 stars is the communication. During the consultation, I was hoping for more guidance on ideas since I didn't have a clear vision. I was just shown his portfolio on his tablet and quietly scrolled in front of him. After the shoot, I had to follow up for updates on my raw and edited photos. Only after I reached out first did he respond immediately.

They gave good directions on how we would interact with each other without giving us step by step instructions. Their directions allowed us to act natural but also be conscious that we were taking photos but not give directions where our gestures or body language would feel awkward or unnatural and awkward. We thought that we'd be uncomfortable or awkward in front of a camera but Tae absolutely made the shoot so natural and fun. It was hard to imagine that we'd have a better experience than we already did. Both ladies hustled the entire day, directing us and coming up with unique shots all the while keeping us on schedule. Karla would be running around checking on us, grabbing missing props like my bouquet while Kary would be shooting us all in sync with our videographer so that no shot was missed (and the Karla would also start snapping pictures). Karla and Kary worked super hard in capturing candid moments as we went around socializing with guests and dancing in the wedding but they had us hit every epic posed shot that is possible.
