I am a recent bride and had my engagement and wedding photoshoots with Donna. I chose Donna because I noticed that she really brought out the light of a bride's face all while getting the structure of a photo so beautifully. This is a very belated review of how wonderful Donna was for our engagement shoot exactly one year ago in October and our wedding this past May. I found Donna on Instagram. Her photos and editing stood out to me as her photography of the details, candids and the portraits are all captured in a natural way (not over-filtered, over-edited, or washed out). The short: I have a working relationship with Donna for 2 years now, and I would choose Donna Lam in a heartbeat time and time again to capture my wedding. Highly recommended! The long: My husband and I first discovered Donna through our coordinator (Milk Events, also highly recommended!). Donna had the style that we were looking for at a price point that wasn't going to break the bank. We chatted with Donna over Zoom since we were in NorCal, and she had so many great insights on colors, flowers, details to best capture the style and design that we loved so much in her photos. She was a true expert, helping us see our wedding vision come to life. Within that weekend, we booked her for our wedding 15 months later. Then.. COVID happened. My husband and I postponed the wedding from May to September, crossing our fingers that by then, everything would be back to normal. Donna was super flexible with the postponement, responded quickly with her availabilities so that we were able to secure all our vendors and venue within a few short days for our new date. Then fast-forward to August, COVID was still around, and we just had the second wave in mid-July, sparking concern about having a large scale wedding. With 6 weeks left to go, my husband and I decided to completely change up our wedding, and through all of this Donna was super supportive. She never questioned the potential of switching venues and driving 1 hour away from LA, she was totally ok with us splitting up our original 7 hour wedding coverage in two, and most importantly, she never said "no" but worked with us instead. On the day of our COVID wedding, Donna was a true professional. She was prepared with props to help bring the day to life with all her detail shots. Although she had never been to the venue before, she had also done her research, and with her creative vision on photos, she had endless photo ops for us. She was quick and efficient with her time, but also offered her assistant to stay an extra hour to help us capture more photos. We went home super happy with how the wedding turned out and looked forward to our photos. A month later, we got the photos for review and loved so many of them! With the remaining hours of our original contract, we decided to take newly wed photos in Palos Verdes, 1 hour away from San Gabriel Valley for Donna. Again, Donna never asked questions about the distance, and embraced our location, even having never been there. On the day of, we went to two different locations, one of which required a hike down and up. Donna was worked great in these locations, and didn't mind the outdoors at all. Just like our wedding, our photos were ready a month later for our review. As part of the package, Donna also included a photo album. We selected our photos and Donna brought everything back to life in print from. The album and presentation completely blew us away. We first heard about Donna from a friend that had used her for her engagement photos and wedding day. I saw her work and immediately fell in love and knew I wanted to work with her one day. 2 years later, I am planning my own wedding and knew exactly who I wanted to use as my photographer. We booked her for our engagement photos in April 2019 and our wedding for November 2019. We did our engagement photos out in Claremont Wilderness Park. This review is extremely overdue but COVID-19 quarantine has finally given me time to write this well deserved review for Donna. I remember I found Donna through Instagram and after comparing what felt like 100 photographers, my husband and I decided to go with Donna because of her photography style, reasonable price, and excellent customer service. We wanted a photographer that took photos in a warm and light tone. Her pricing was super reasonable compared to the quotes we received from other photographers. Donna is a great communicator not only through her e-mails but in person as well. During our engagement shoot, she made us feel very comfortable in our own skin and gave great direction on how to pose. On our wedding day, she took so many beautiful photos that I could cry looking at each one (happy tears). To this day, after almost a year, I am still looking at my photos very, very often. An added unexpected bonus for us was she was able to communicate to our family in Chinese. I didn't think how important this was until the day of our wedding. Lastly, Donna's presentation of our wedding album and packaging is truly something special that you can tell she put a lot of thought and TLC into. Our journey with Donna began when I first stumbled upon her work while browsing on Instagram back in 2018 and immediately fell in love with the style of her photos. They were romantic, dreamy, and natural - everything I had envisioned my wedding to be :) so I knew that I had to reach out ASAP. Communication with Donna was so easy because she answered all of our questions/concerns right away and she was very thorough. We really appreciated that especially during wedding planning! Donna ended up taking our engagement photos in March 2019 in cloudy San Francisco. I remember feeling a bit bummed out that day because it was so windy and cloudy and we already had to postpone a previous engagement session due to the rain, but Donna somehow did her magic and made it work. When we received our engagement album from Donna, we were so blown away. Even though we didn't get the natural sunlight that we wanted, the photos turned out beautiful. Fast forward to our wedding in October 2019, we experienced a power outage at our venue and it was another cold/windy day. It was a very fast paced and chaotic day as well and Donna continued to remain calm, patient, and professional with us and our big families! Needless to say, our wedding album was everything we imagined it to be and more (yay for sunset photos!). We were soooo happy with how our wedding photos turned out and our families/friends were also blown away by Donna's talent. Choosing Donna as our photographer was one of the best decisions my husband and I made during our entire wedding planning process. I hope that when this pandemic we're going through is finally over or has subsided, all engaged couples can go back to planning their dream weddings and choose Donna as their photographer. Donna was recommended by my wedding planner and I must say she was one of the best recommendations. My engagement/wedding photos turned out so beautiful! We even got to bring our fur baby to our photoshoot which made it so much more meaningful to us. She was really helpful with giving me suggestions on what to wear for our engagement shoot. I never been in a photoshoot before so I was really nervous. She made me and my husband feel so comfortable and we had so much fun taking photos. The best part was receiving a very beautiful wedding album from Donna. We loved everything about it, it brought so much memories and a little bit of tears. Everyone in my family loved the photos. I found Donna's gorgeous work through Instagram and knew I wanted to book her for my wedding. Leading up to the wedding, she was so communicative and helpful with planning logistics/timeline for the ceremony and reception. I did a city hall ceremony which she has experience in and she was really helpful regarding the logistics. Every single question I had was graciously and patiently answered by her. We hired Donna for our boutique hotel/beach side wedding and for the price point, I think she really does an awesome job. She is professional and efficient, and her work is really beautiful. About 3 weeks after the wedding, I was already able to preview our wedding photos online. About 7 weeks after the wedding, I already have the complete finished photo album in my hands, which I can tell she really took time & effort to put together. Pros: - affordable - beautiful work - mostly a vintage/vingette style, softer, more romantic - package includes a gorgeous photo album - two photographers included - easy to work with - communication was not a problem - she's great at suggesting various poses and even brought us sparklers to help get some interesting shots - personalized USB with photos included Very few Cons: - i forgot to ask for a solo full length dress picture and didn't realize it wasn't included until too late - I didn't get the ideal beach/sunset shots i wanted since it was half cloudy - To help get more variety in photos, sometimes she will ask you to like, do something funny. I'm really not into doing the "funny" faces and neither was my bridal party. I do understand that this is sometimes necessary so there's more variation in the photos and whatnot. But had I known this in advance, I probably would have just asked for more candid shots rather than the posed ones read more

Donna is one of my favorite vendor to work with during the whole wedding planning process. I had trouble deciding on which veil to get, and she was kind enough to give me advice when I asked her. During the wedding, she is so patient and has a great working attitude. She was great at capturing those candid moments at the wedding, but also gave us space. Sometimes during the wedding, I didn't even realize she was taking pictures! She was very prompt, and delivered the photos within the time she promised.
