When my son was killed we were out of state on family vacation. I had to come home without my son and plan a funeral. When we first began looking the first thing I knew I needed was space. It was days after the state lifted the mask mandate and places were still not allowing a large gathering. Forest Lawn was allowing us max 40 people after my good friend made a call and told me they were allowing my capacity here at Fontana Mortuary, my sister was able to set up an appointment. When I first stepped foot back into the mortuary now ran by new owners and this time for my own child I was so overwhelmed, broken and didn't know what to expect. Andy welcomed us in, sat us all down and introduced us to Lorena. Lorena immediately became my favorite person just by her compassion, by hearing my sons story by being a MOTHER above all else. Finally someone who understands. She ran through everything step by step, she gave us a tour, she answered all of our questions and then helped us prepare our service. Now through the week my son was still out of state due to his autopsy and waiting for permits to fly him home. Anxious for the day he flew into Ontario airport, I had asked her if she would mind my husband and I meeting up to follow them back to the mortuary once he arrives you know for my reassurance that he's here, that he's home. She said "absolutely" and we did...she allowed me to meet her, we followed her back and just got out and hugged her for giving us that peace and went about our way. The day before the service we had an appointment to prepare my son, Lorena, Jessica and Andy were so amazing, so patient and helped us get him looking so sharp. If it wasn't for the little moments like these I don't know how I would've gotten through this. Especially dealing with two completely different funeral homes and so many different people Lorena and Jessica made me feel like my son was THEIR FAMILY. The day of the service was amazing, I received so many compliments on what a beautiful service it was. Lorena drove my son home and we rode in motorcade exactly how I wanted it. My family only ended up here because my father passed unexpectedly earlier this year (before the pandemic) and we had no arrangements made. Given the option I would go anywhere else. My brother was on a work trip on the other side of the world so he didn't get to see my dad before he was taken to the mortuary. The next day when my brother got home, we asked to see my dad. I never felt so much hate in my heart than when I heard the response: "When your father was in your care you could've had the whole neighborhood come see your father. He is in our care now." They wanted us to pay everyone to do makeup, get a suit etc before they let my brother view the body. We didn't. He wanted to be cremated with no viewing. I remember sitting in the room and the most prominent thing in the room was a sign asking for a Yelp review so here it is. read more

Laying my brother down to rest was the hardest thing my family has ever done. Yara helped us through the entire process. Her energy was amazing, she took the time to listen. Understand. And empathize with us. We felt so comfortable with her, and she took the time to get to know us. Death is hard. Really hard. But Yara made things run as smooth as possible, from the programs to the small details, to transportation. Even the way my brother looked, It was perfect. no stone was left unturned with her. She gave us a realistic expectation. Pricing, and options. We visited several homes in the area but the others felt off. Fontana Mortuary felt inviting. They had a beautiful patio, apart from the viewing area, a child's room and plenty of parking for our guests and family. Yara was a great host. She even came to the service to help the day of, which is something they normally don't do, but she went above and beyond to be there because we needed extra support. read more

Terrible service here. I understand COVID so they are backed up on service request but terrible embalming job. NO EFFORT was put into that! Broke my heart to how bad they left our loved ones image! Left our loved one in body bag and just put her clothes on top. Day of service telling us not to make a "mess" in the room acting like they didn't charge us at least a maintenance fee! We had my father in law services here and everything came out perfect. Everyone here was very helpful especially Lorena she was very friendly and understanding with the loss of my father in law. Lorena was very compassionate and understanding with the loss that we were enduring. Lorena explained the packages they offered and understood what we were looking for. They respected what my husband and mother in law wanted and most of the things we asked for they made it happen. My father passed in the middle of December. When people were dying left and right. Everywhere I called, it was a mess. But the reason I chose this place was because of Nancy. When I called to get info she was extremely helpful without forcing me to make a decision right there and then. I'm glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews. It was extremely important for me to hold the services in Fontana and this place topped every other I researched. From what they offered, the size of the location and to the politeness of the staff during the hardest time of my life. My biggest advice is to shop around and follow your heart on where to pick. If you do decide to come to this place, Nancy is the one to work it, you'll thank me later. read more

My fathers passing was an extremely difficult time for us. We have a big family and we met with Lorena. She went above and beyond coordinating everything for us. She was very comforting and always took calls whenever my mom had questions. We couldn't have chosen a better place to have my dads viewing and service. The services provided were perfect for the big family we have. Lots of space to cater to everyone. A room for kids to spend time together and a patio outside to get away if you needed to. Truly felt very warm for such a terrible time. Lorena was the main person who helped us but Nancy and Andy assisted as well and both were equally great with us. You can tell they all work well together and genuinely care. The pricing was very reasonable and everything was told to us upfront. It was like finding a hidden gem. I wish I could give them ZERO stars. Andee made everything EXTREMELY difficult for my mother and told out right lies to us about scheduling the cemetery and church. He even offered to "just lay the clothes over my grandmother" when HE made a mistake in telling us she needed clothes but then told us they charge for dressing. Super unorganized and misleading . My mother was left in tears several times after dealing with them and no one should have to go through all that when planning a funeral for their mother. Dickeys was amazing . I would like to take the time to write a review about the services Fontana Mortuary recently provided. We were devastated with the loss of our brother and we met with Lorena 2 weeks ago. She was very nice compassionate and professional about the services they provided. If I had a question she had an answer and was extremely helpful thru the process. They have several packages they provide and all the prices were listed. There was never a surprise about an extra expense or something changing. She worked with us thru our devastation and the day of the viewing it was exactly what we expected. All her staff was very professional, cordial and helpful. Everyone complemented how good the coffee was and how it felt like home for us. We mourned the loss of our loved one and she did everything beautifully. The next day from the church to the cemetery everything was coordinated and taken care of. The loss of a loved one is never easy its the most devastating time for anyone but having Lorena and her staff eased a burden for our family was a blessing. We couldn't choose a better place to give our final goodbyes to my Husband, I know that if he could see his own funeral services he would be very very pleased with Fontana Mortuary. This home was recommended to my family and myself by one of my sons in law, in a difficult time like this the last thing you want to do is calling places and going from place to place to see what is better. I call Fontana Mortuary first and was attended by Lorena González, she is very professional and courteous and I felt that we already knew each other she is very warm and helpful, we went and visit the home and felt right away that was the place to have my Husband funeral services, I didn't have the need to look anywhere else, they're very professional, attentive to the needs and wants of people, the home is clean comfortable and spacious and it was great for the big family we are.
