Personal items were removed from my loved one's gravesite before the posted trash collection date, and instead of acknowledging the mistake, management dismissed my concerns. No grieving family should ever be made to feel as though they are doing something wrong by honoring their loved one. My interactions with the manager, Ashley, left me feeling unheard and frustrated. Rather than addressing concerns with compassion and accountability, I felt my experiences were repeatedly dismissed. A cemetery should provide dignity, respect, and peace for grieving families. Our beloved mother was buried on July 9th 2026. We were told that if we wanted the flowers that we had until July 15th to collect them. We went to visit on July 13th just to find out the flowers had been thrown in the TRASH! My father visits there every day religiously, and the family did not throw those flowers away. Apparently this is nothing new to this cemetery. If you look closely at the reviews, this is an ongoing thing. We went with this final resting place because we were told they had security 24-7. Obviously somebody is not doing their job. My sisters are very upset as we wanted to collect the flowers and make rosaries out of them. I've given the office a chance to make it right. Every time I call them, they shuffle me around and have nothing to offer, but excuses. I'm worried that we are not going to be able to leave anything nice at my mother's grave. Do not purchase burial packages or pre-need services without a thorough review of the terms. Our experience has been extremely disappointing. My mother purchased her burial plot and later began paying for pre-arranged services. However, the details of what was included were never clearly explained. When it came time to complete payment, we encountered significant confusion because the original information provided about the payment plan was inaccurate. Years later, we were contacted and informed that an additional $6,000 was required for the opening and closing of the burial plot--an expense that had not been clearly disclosed at the time of purchase. It appears that additional charges continue to surface over time for services we believed were already covered. **Review of Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary** My family and I went through an extremely upsetting and humiliating experience during my beloved mother's burial service at Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary. What should have been a peaceful farewell turned into a painful situation that left us devastated. During the entombment process at Our Lady Queen of Peace, the service was suddenly stopped by staff, and we were told that my mother could not be placed in her chosen crypt because she was in a wooden casket. This information was given to us only *at the very last moment*, in front of all our friends and family, causing confusion, embarrassment, and deep emotional distress. We were shocked that this issue was not addressed sooner, especially since the mortuary had an entire month to review the contract, check the mausoleum requirements, and notify us if there was any problem. Receiving this information during the service itself felt incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. Because of this last-minute interruption, my mother's entombment could not be completed, and she had to be taken back into storage while our family tried to figure out what to do next--either bury her in the ground as she did not wished, or purchase a different casket that met the mausoleum's requirements. Being forced to make such a difficult decision under emotional pressure was very painful. I believe Dignity Memorial needs to better train and educate its staff to prevent something like this from ever happening to another family. No grieving family should have to endure this kind of distress on the day they are saying their final goodbye. I do not recommend this cemetery to no one. No staff member ever called to apologize for the incomplete service or the mistake of Mr. Patrick Martin. read more

I've had many shares of attending services here. I like the fact that you can just walk on the grounds any time to visit a loved one since it's not a gated park. Although cars can't go in the gate after business hours , you can just park car outside the gate by the curbside and walk on the grounds. This is meant to give others a second thought before purchasing a plot at this cemetery. They promise you everything, but once your loved one is buried, the experience becomes extremely distressing. The staff is not properly trained to inform or guide grieving families through their rules and regulations. An incident occurred when we decorated my father's gravesite with Christmas decorations, and everything was thrown away without notice. My family spoke with multiple employees, and the only response we received was, "Sorry, you were given a packet and should have read it." This response showed a complete lack of empathy and understanding for what grieving families are going through emotionally and mentally. When my sister expressed that we were never clearly informed, we were told we should have checked the gates or looked online. How are grieving families supposed to know to do this if no one explains it to them? Or at least make it a point to say please review the packet as our rules and calendars are there! No mention of it whatsoever The management has become desensitized to the needs of families in mourning. The manager, Janet, told my sister that she has to take care of 90,000 families and that it is the families' responsibility to go back and review the rules. This lack of compassion and professionalism is unacceptable, especially during such a painful time. Do not use this place. It is unprofessional, insensitive, and adds unnecessary stress to families who are already grieving. Stay away from this horrible place. read more

During one of the most painful times of my life, after my father's passing, Montecito threw away all of our Christmas décor from his gravesite including crosses and then blamed us by saying we were "supposed to read the packet." Let that sink in. When you are actively grieving, overwhelmed, and trusting professionals to guide you, you are handed a large folder with no verbal explanation and later told you should have read it." That is not compassion. That is not dignity. That is not acceptable. They later admitted that the person who coordinated our arrangements should have verbally informed us about décor removal policies but by then, our personal and sentimental items were already gone. An apology does not replace what was taken, nor does it excuse the lack of care. What makes this worse: They now state you cannot place anything other than flowers unless it is a holiday You pay thousands of dollars to lay your loved one to rest here, yet they still want to control even how you honor them They advertise sections for Catholic families, yet they discarded crosses without notice Throwing away religious items without proper communication is deeply disturbing and disrespectful. Whether you are Catholic or not, crosses are sacred to many families, and the way this was handled shows a complete lack of sensitivity and awareness. This place operates more like a rule-driven business than a memorial park meant to honor the dead and support the living. Grieving families deserve clear communication, compassion, and respect, not blame after the fact. If you are considering Montecito Memorial Park, please think twice. Ask very specific questions. No surprise that the reviews here are less than stellar. I recently had a loved one buried at this cemetery--part of a dual burial--otherwise, I would have chosen to go elsewhere. I was initially quoted a price at the end of December and informed that rates would increase in January. Since we had an invoice, I assumed the original price would be honored, especially since the $2,000+ price hike applied to the property, which we already owned as part of the dual burial. However, I was later informed the hike would apply and had to go back and forth with management, making numerous phone calls to fight for the original amount. While they did eventually honor the original quoted price, it was not without unnecessary hassle and frustration. The process for updating the headstone was another ordeal. I was told early on that we needed to order a completely new one and from the beginning, we made it clear that we wanted the new headstone to match the original as closely as possible, including dual names and dual photos. Our coordinator even mentioned they would need to swap out the type of photo to a tiled version per new guidelines. Given this, I naturally assumed the final price would include the cost of the photo. Months later--after waiting over two weeks post-burial just to get any information about the headstone process--I was suddenly told the photo wasn't included, and when I raised concerns, the response was simply, "You signed the contract." To make matters worse, even though I, the daughter, paid for the entire service, was told I am not allowed to make any decisions regarding the headstone without the next of kin present--well except, of course, when it comes to handing over my credit card for payment. Overall, the communication throughout this process has been lacking, and I feel taken advantage of during an already difficult time. Being that this place is pretty decent, it is so stupid, that they close the doors to the chapel, as they have viewings and the route to enter to the right chapel is always close. So we have to turn back to Washington and wait for 20-25 minutes for a 1 mile drive (do to the streets tráfic). My grandpa recently passed away on January 5th, 2024 and my family had pre-arranged plans from 2017. When it came time to make arrangements, they somehow "LOST" documentation that the urns were paid for. When my grandma tried to tell them it was already paid for (keep in mind she lost her husband of 45 years) they INSISTED that she didn't. They even typed in her name and social security to "prove" she didn't prepay. They made it seem like we were trying to scam them like they hadn't been collected money monthly. The only way we could solve the issue is by US finding the paperwork. We spent over four days searching high and low to find documents while scheduling my grandpa's services. Once we found proof, they didn't apologize and said it was "up to their insurance" if they would honor the contract. What happened to proof of our contract and how many peoples contract have the "lost"? THEY COLLECTED THE MONEY!! But decided to leave it up to their insurance to determine if they would cover the cost?!? On top of that they misspelled January on my grandpas urn and we didn't notice until the day of the service. When we went down to the office the FEMALE MEXICAN MANAGER HAD THE NERVE TO BLAME US FOR NOT SEEING IT WHEN WE PICKED IT UP!She was so disrespectful to my grandma and constantly blamed us. We had to reschedule the services and all my family had to leave back to Mexico. The worst part is my grandma asked for free flowers for all the problems they gave us and the manager said absolutely. The day of my grandpas service they were not there. We pay them to know how to spell the months of the year and be compassionate. This is the worst funeral home I have encountered in terms of communications and services. There were no follow up from their staffs once the funeral services are over to fix unresolved issues. My mom was buried on 1/31/2025 and my dad was buried on 5/5/2025. Their burial plots still does not have any marker/headstone. We have been dealing with Ashley for over one year now to get my parents headstones in place. I don't understand how this is so complicated for a funeral home not to follow up. I told them multiple times since last summer to email me if they needed any signatures /paperworks to obtain the markers/headstone for my parents since I live out of town. Their excuses was that they sent the email to my oldest brother. I told them my oldest brother is frequently out of the country and he told them he has authorized me to be the spokesperson. I spoke to Montecito staffs multiple times trying to get the headstones placed at my parents burial sites. I spoke to Ashley on 10/29/25. At that time she assured me all the paperworks has been completed/signed. We need to wait up to 8 weeks for the headstones to be completed. Well I visited my parents burial sites on Christmas Day and still there were no headstones. This is unacceptable to wait over one year to get headstones for my parents burial sites. Today I had to speak to their director who stated "Sorry there was a miscommunication and now we can make sure your parents' headstones will be completed." I asked them why no one call me if some of the paperworks were not completed after our October conversation. Their excuse was we emailed your oldest brother and there were no response from him. I reminded them my oldest brother informed them to contact me back in October. They never followed up with me. They did not takes any responsibility for the delays. I am in the process of planning my baby boys 1 year of life celebration and as a Mexican American it is in our CULTURE and our TRADITION to bring serenata to our loved ones whom have passed away. During his funeral services I was able to have serenata for his burial, but today I got a call that I am not allowed to bring serenata to my son for his 1year of life celebration and has broke my heart into a million of pieces! I do not understand why issues with other families (which is the excuse I received by one of their staff members) has to do with my baby, myself, and my family. I have argued & complained about my Mom's Headstone (and others all around her) for nearly 4 years! Then in June the Headstone had sunk/tipped in ground. UNACCEPTABLE! Needless to say I was livid. They were sending someone down to fix it. I trusted they did/would as they said. I went back yesterday to visit. It appeared that it had an attempt to be fixed but it obviously was not done properly so was thinking again. As I sat there growing more angry I called the office instead of driving up there this time and told them they better send somebody down there to fix it while I was waiting. Lily the office manager came and was sympathetic to my anger and concern and she had Carlos a groundskeeper come. Let me tell you Carlos got the job done perfectly. I was so pleased I took his picture in front of my mother's headstone to show what a great job he did. He went the extra step and even polished the headstone. I have a family member recently buried here at montecito. The day of the services they were so unhelpful with the video and they were unable to play it. Their video system is so outdated. they also didn't have a child size lowering assist device and dropped my loved one. It has been a few months since our loved one has been buried and the grass is still unkept. the landscapers don't cut the grass but they sure do come around and throw away all belongings. Today they went around and threw away bags and bags of loved one's belongings. All of a sudden they do not allow any decorations. read more

I would like to recognize and commend Mr. Patrick Martin who went above and beyond for us. The vase on my parents' gravesite was broken and my cousin brought it to Patrick's attention. He attended to the issue right away, and twice had to get tools to remove the old vase and replace it with a brand new one. Ground personnel came to us and saw Patrick trying to get the old vase out and told Patrick he did not have to leave his office to do it. Patrick just smiled and continued to the work of getting the vase out. He also dug the soil inside the hole and pulled the grass around the vase to make the area look nice. He then looked at the two headstones, and said they would be leveled and raised. He was incredibly courteous, patient and professional and he exceeded the scope of his responsibilities to help us. I called in, and not even 5 minutes Patrick came out and not only came out to take care of our situation (and more), but he also cleaned up 5 more plots around. We buried my mom here 2 years ago, and we were told we'd be able to decorate however we wanted. The workers complain that our decorations don't allow them to clean, they don't even clean the areas!! they do such a lazy job. One day they decided they wanted to throw away peoples decorations !! They picked and chose what they wanted to throw away. Now i came today to find my MOMS STONE SCRATCHED UP!!! HORRIBLE! and this is NOT the first time i see this happen!! He not only helped with what I needed but did so with genuine pleasure. He could have easily said he was busy but instead replied, "I'll be over in just a few." Our father recently passed away and he was buried with our mom at Montecito. I've been coming here for 19yrs, as our mother passed when I was 18 and our father just passed, I'm now 38. Both died too soon and on the younger side. I wanted to share a perspective from someone who has been visiting the park since a young age till currently and very frequently. Planning a funeral during normal circumstances is incredibly difficult. Imagine during COVID-19? My father didn't die due to the virus but due to his medical team at Kaiser in Redlands and Riverside failing him. We had 3 days to select his resting place, casket and the works. However, his funeral was out nearly two weeks out because of how incredibly busy they were. Families didn't get the normal experience. We were limited to a lot and still had to pay absorbent fee's. No wake, just the viewing for the grieving family limited to 12 people. Open casket. Streamed live. Outdoor was closed casket and we were being rushed despite the hour promised to the family. I, being selfish made certain my father was respected accordingly to our heritage and religious belief. My father was prepared and just as handsome as he was. In his favorite suit. He lays under a tree that provides just enough shade and allows rays of sun to stream through. The employees lack communication. You need to be on your A game with them. Read the contract closely. I learned something from another grieving family that they ordered the same casket as provided in their bundle from Costco Online for more the half the price off. The groundskeeper do a wonderful job with keeping the property lush green. We miss you, daddy. read more
