My wife and I have been visiting the Food Bazaar located at 1425 Kennedy Blvd North Bergen, NJ 07047 since moving into the area four years ago. We have always had a great experience shopping and seeing all the sorted items available. Always fresh, clean, well-stocked, and ultimately the staff have been wonderful. Unfortunately, today Friday 10/18/24 had an embarrassing experience in which she was accused of shoplifting. These were the circumstances. Prior to visiting the store, she stopped at the local Dollar General and purchased a few items. Upon arriving at Bazaar, the security officer witnessed my wife carrying a bag into the store and asked my wife to just knot the bag she was carrying. She complied and went on to purchase the items she was seeking. After finding what she was looking for and approaching the cashier (#9) and laying the items she was paying for the cashier immediately inquired as to why my wife was not clearing her bag of the items she arrived with. My Wife informed the cashier she came in with the items and the security officer can attest to it. The cashier (named Lucia) pursued the matter and created a scene in which my wife had to empty all the items she again entered with and provided the receipt from Dollar General proving she was not shoplifting. This caused immediate embarrassment as all in the general vicinity to now see what occurred. The Security was questioned and relayed the information my wife provided as well regarding knotting the bag she arrived with. My wife contacted me emotional and relayed what occurred. I googled the store and made contact with the manager Mr. Young Hur who was very sympathetic, kind, and extremely apologetic to his staff member's actions as well as the incident itself. Mr. Hur stated he would look into the matter and return my call with his findings, again apologizing. I immediately called my wife and informed her that I just spoke with Mr. Hur; to discover she had returned to the store as during the incident she did not receive her receipt for the items she purchased. I had her make contact with Mr. Hur who greeted my wife again apologizing. Relieved the cashier (Lucia) to discuss the matter. Ultimately The cashier apologized to my wife for the treatment she received, as well as the receipt, as well as resolved the matter through to the support by the surrounding staff who recognize my wife as a regular customer, the security officer who was kind and supportive, and Mr. Hur. The outcome was amicable, and supportive through the actions from store manager Young Hur who in our opinion showed great sympathy and kindness. This place falls hard into the "you get what you pay for" mold. On the bright side, it's huge, and they have a ton of selection for pretty much anything you are looking for. It's also tough to beat their prices - better than most other grocery stores around here. Added bonus - they have a liquor store on site, with a surprisingly good variety of beers. The downside is, naturally everyone will flock here to partake in these savings. This place is regularly mobbed on the weekends, and check-out / cashiers are a pain to sit through. Bring a book, seriously. Your best bet might be to come really early on a weekend, or really late before they close. Free outdoor parking available on site. read more

I've only been here a couple of times, but so far it's been pretty good and I'll prob be back again. Pros: 1) Very diverse selection of international foods, especially Spanish and Asian. 2) Also a decent amount of organic, gluten free, all natural, etc. options throughout the store. 3) Large meat/seafood section as well as a bakery area. 4) Employees were nice. 5) Store is very big, clean, and organized. I also like that they have certain registers marked as handicapped accessible for people who need more space, like for wheelchairs, walkers, etc. 6) Big parking lot and close to Kennedy bus stops for easy transportation. Cons: 1) Not as cheap as you would think. I did get some good deals on things like coffee and snacks, but some other stuff I paid a little extra ($1-$2) than I would've elsewhere (but who has time to make two shopping trips?) 2) Really double check the produce (which I guess should already be a given). Most stuff was good, but some bins or containers would be bad or expired. (Not just a few items here and there, like literally everything in the bin had gone rotten and should've been disposed of a while ago. But hey, it's produce, it happens.) read more

Another new location from Food Bazaar. Came here a couple of days before Thanksgiving. They had everything I needed and at reasonable prices. Tons of options. Tons of choices. Need beef; you better know what you want because they have it all. Very competitive prices with fresh good looking meat. Same for fish, produce, bakery, departments. I can't say enough goods things about Food Bazaar in general. They do it right. I was at this location because the Fairview location was not operational (open now). They had some hiccups with new employees, but not the end of the world. Training a new staff takes a bit of time. Patience people....... Overall, I am a Happy Camper with Food Bazaar. They cater to their area in general. While they have an excellent international section. This location had more Latin items than say my go to location in Fairview with more of the Asian influence. Bottom line, Food Bazaar Supermarkets is an excellent market place for everyday family dinners. They have it all.... read more

This market has alot of good selections stocked. The fishes are fresh, the produces are cheap and the fruits are of great quality. The regular discounts also save me a lot of money when i shop here. I go here every week to buy meat and produce for the week. They even have a lot of Hispanic soda and snacks to choose from. The line are usually not too long and they have membership program that offer good reward. Parking lot is big, the location is also very convenience because it is on the main street with alot of other businesses around. Food Bazaar supermarket is a great mix market that continue to meet my expectation when it comes to quality. The staff are very friendly as well and greet me every time with a smile. I will continue to come here and buy my weekly produces. Make sure you do check the price though because some of the items price might be a little bit higher than other places, but for most of their stuff they are definitely cheaper than similar markets. read more

Went here yesterday for the first time. VERY pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, especially when compared to it's previous occupants - Food Basics and A&P. The produce section of this place looked like Whole Foods. Spacious, clean, well-organized. Not as many organic options though, of course. It's not claiming to be Whole Foods, so no disappointment there. They also have a nice variety of fresh cut fruit and freshly prepared foods in the Produce section. Got some guac and a large cut fruit platter. I've seen these types of circular platters go for like $16 at ShopRite easily. Here it was $8. I couldn't believe it. HUGE seafood and meat section too. Their hot prepared foods section has rotisserie chickens, party platters (beef patties, cheese and cured meats, wings, etc). Bakery has macaroons FCOL! Cheese cake, cupcakes, whole cakes. They even have some amazing looking thing called a "Truffle Bomb" which is basically a cake in the shape of a chocolate drizzled truffle. Looks like something from Super Mario World. Anyway, great first impression. Got a ton of stuff that only came to $53. I feel like at Shoprite it would've been like $80. But I didn't do a detailed cost comparison. Aint nobody got time for that! On a Weds night, 9pm the place was dead. We were in and out, no problem. This is a nice step up for North Bergen / UC area. read more

This place a a cross between Stu Leonard's and an International Food market with a lot of produce choices including organic. I especially liked the spice isle and dairy section because they had a wide selection of brands I use and have a hard time finding elsewhere. I was somewhat disappointed with the yoghurt selections as they did not have the larger non-fat Greek yogurt as a choice. Overall the store is clean and well kept. The only thing I would advise them on is to be better prepared with the amount of cashiers they have on duty for a holiday (Like Labor Day) evening at 5:00. read more

First time in yesterday. Was impressed with how expansive the store is, but not so much the selection. Had to go through many red peppers to find a couple that looked edible, didn't find Campari tomatoes, bananas only sold by the bag, no organic carrots (ok so I'm spoiled by Walmart) and when consulting with my friend on the prices on the produce, was told it's way too expensive. Cheap food, the market is big. I was feeling not so well because my blood sugar was low. So I asked the staff if there's a place that I can sit down and wait for my boyfriend to pay for the things we bought, he was the next one in line. The staff helped me and gave me a bottle of water. As it's called a Bazaar, this location caters to the Latino residents of Union City and North Bergen. The produce, meats and seafood section are generously stocked. There is a liquor section inside (similar to Shop Rite in downtown Jersey City). The prices are okay; although some specialty goods (Latin/Asian) are a bit more expensive. It's overall a good grocery store compared to others in the Jersey City Heights/Union City/North Bergen area as they offer more selection. read more

New supermarket so I was excited to check em out. Sadly it wasn't that good and neither were the prices. Was a pretty basic grocery store, nothing really going for it. They didn't have everything I needed and had to go to another store. Positive was the produce section which looked fresh but I guess that's standard at a supermarket. The prices are ridiculous they were actually selling single cupcakes for 5 dollars each. The employees seemed lost it took forever to check out even though no one was in front of me. The bag boy clearly had never seen reusable bags and didn't speak English so we could not communicate. I asked him to put the heavy items in the backpack I brought so he filled it with bread and chips. He put my bags in the cart but left out the 40$ worth of meat in the one plastic bag he packed forcing me to return to the store to retrieve it. Thank God this place opened up. This place has the best produce and the best fish department around, including live lobsters and crab and oysters. They also have an excellent international food section. I like the wide aisles and there is plenty of customer service. This store really filled a needed void. I'll only use the my other local grocery stores for small purchases from now on. For big, weekly shopping, this is my new place. read more

Twice I have had the worst customer service at this location . we used the store many time before with no problems until we came in like any other evening and did our shopping after we paid we go to the counter to sign up for the delivery home mind you we are still within the operating hours of the service . we are told that it is done for the evening that they had no drivers so we wore ok no problem we will just get a lyft home , as we are waiting for of ride home the delivery truck shows up and starts loading some other peoples grocerys and we ask of he was still doing deliverys till 7 . so I go back inside and ask why I was told they are not doing any more delivery when we wore just told by the driver he was we just spent over $150 witch is well above the minimum needed for the service . we asked for a manager they could not find one it became such a thing with head cashier just not wanting to admit she was wrong or just didn't want to let use the store service . we just left when our ride showed up ,we called the store left a message and did finally speak with a manager Phillip I belive his name was . well to get to today we are there to do our shopping again and to make good for the issue on our last visit with the delivery. So we ask for the manager we wore told to ask for if Phillip was not there and well he had no idea of anything about what we wore told . he had no power to do anything with out approval of the store manager that we would have to come back again on Monday to speak to him so it was pointless for us to do our shopping today of we wore told that anytime we wore to shop we just had to ask for one or the other and it would be taken care of . so dealing with the a so called manager who could not get we don't have the time to be coming back and forth we we have busy schedules and I can't just come the next day . at this point I will be contacting there corporate office it no longer about the delivery its honestly the poor training of the so called management. read more

Worst customer service by far. It clearly says here on yelp that this store is open until 12:30 a.m. I'm from out of town...first time in Jersey and we had gotten there at 11:20 p.m to grab a few groceries because we didn't have any at the place we were staying. It was 11:33 p.m I was a couple steps away from checkout walking toward checkout (my boyfriend was already up there ringing up groceries and I had to grab one more item) and some young girl comes up to me, no uniform on telling me they are closed. I then politely explain to her that on this app it says you are open later and stated the time that's on here. She then proceeded to tell me no that I was not right like I was lying, talked back and argued with me, said on their website they were open until 11:30 p.m, and pulled up google on her phone to show me which wasn't their website and stuck it into my face instead of letting me finish walking up to check out, so she wasted even more time arguing with me stopping me on my way up to check out which made no sense. She then follows me up there and stands their with a bunch of Hispanic people just watching me like they can't wait for me to get out of there when I, the customer is paying them for groceries and service. I work retail and work customer service and we aren't even allowed to come up to customers and tell them we are closed and to run them out of the store, and definitely not to argue with the customer! I also work for a much bigger corporation, so maybe they should learn from this experience. If it was 10 minutes or longer after closing. I would understand why she would do that, but it was literally 3 minutes. Cry me a river! Drama. You do not treat a customer that way, ever. I will be filing a complaint. I will absolutely NEVER shop here again. I usually shop here every week, but after my last experience- never again. When I was purchasing my groceries this past weekend, the transaction was declined for some reason and the cashier had me insert my card again. The transaction went through on the second try. Knowing that I needed to make sure I didn't get double charged, I checked my account and what do you know? I WAS DOUBLE CHARGED. I attempted to resolve the issue with the store and they told me they couldn't do anything- that they would have to deal with their corporate office. I called their corporate office, and they REFUSED to assist me until I gave them my bank account number. How hard is it to look at Register #15 and see that there was a double charge within 30 seconds of each other for the same exact amount?! And to verify that against the RECEIPT I presented as well as my bank statement. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO JUSTIFY KEEPING $200 of MY money??
