Lots of fresh fruit and veggies
    Lea C.

This store is right next to our gym so it's super convenient to pop in here and get fresh items when I need them. Although prices have risen recently, I am still finding that they have the better deals on veggies. Everything has been super fresh, the employees are friendly and it's well stocked. If you want any Fresh items, make sure to hit up the fresh salsa bar at the front of the store.

I don't know what heaven smells like, but I'd wager it's pretty close to the bakery at this Food City! The scent of warm pan dulce, sweet bread with names as pretty as their colors, pulls you in like a front porch breeze on a hot day. There's a kind of comfort here, the kind that makes you slow down and grab a tray, even if you just came in for milk. Conchas, golden and soft with sugar-crusted tops, sit beside orejas that flake just right, and cuernitos that feel like they've been kissed by the sun. And then, the aguas frescas, lord, have mercy. Cold as a desert creek and twice as sweet. The horchata is like sipping summer from a glass, and the jamaica tastes like someone steeped joy into water. It's not fancy. It's not trying to be. It's just right!

Another view of meat that should have been composted.

You don't have to be a butcher or work in a meat dept. to see that this meat's been tampered with. I purchase this meat on the 26th and opened the package on the 27th. The sell-by date was the 31st, but this meat has obviously been packaged and then repackaged at least once. You can tell by the darkness and discoloration of the meat, also there was fresh blood inside the package. They meat also had a snotty film on it and it smelled off. They tampered with it. I tried feeding it to my dog and he turned his nose at it, and he's not picky! You got me for $15 Food City, but it will never happen again. I'd drive to Mesa to avoid shopping in your store ever again.

"Gracias por comprar en Food City." If you have shopped here then you know what I mean. They have toilet paper right now so there is that. Overall it's a decent store and if you need something for Mexican cuisine you can probably find it here.

Amazing Spice and Chili Pepper Selection.

3.5 STARS. Good place to find all sort of spices, chili peppers and hard to find produce when making an authentic meal from Mexico City. Owned by the same family that owns Basha's and AJ's. This is their lower end market designed for people on a cheaper budget. You may have to pick through the produce or the meats a little bit to find what you need or want. They get the funny looking pieces or shapes that the upper end stores may not want to carry in their displays. Picked up some Poblano Peppers and some Mexican Cheese to make Chili Rellenos, some hulled pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, and habenero peppers to make a Yucatecan Pumpkin Seed dip. Goes good with some Jicama that you can slice thin to use as chips for the dip. Also the ingredients to make Chicken Tinga Tostados which is shredded chicken mixed into a blended sauce made with tomato, onion, garlic, and chipotle in adobo sauce. Don't forget some Cotija Cheese to crumble on top for that restaurant look and taste. They also have a fun bakery with lots of Mexican goodies and an area off to the side that makes tortillas fresh while you watch. Not where we usually shop but they have what it takes to reproduce several of Rick Bayless's famous authentic recipes in his cookbooks. Located right next to the Greenway Square. Es bueno tener cuidado!

So,I've been coming to this food city for the past couple days.I'm glad they are remodeling! I bet it will look great but the one thing I'm most certainly concerned about are the bathrooms.why aren't they doing anything to them? My question? Why! I've told several managers that it needs to be cleaned as it still looks the same as the past days I've been coming...sadly they aren't doing anything.I'm disgust of food city.someone should honestly call the health department.I mean,I don't blame the maintenance worker who doesn't want to clean it! Is disgusting! Food city please keep up! That makes your store nasty.

Hire more cashier's and guaranteed more people will come back to shop there.

Sort of dirty and I felt very unsafe. I hurried in and out. Maybe I will try another location.

The Poblanos would've been good for me, but they had corn in the stuffing. Being diabetic, I tend to avoid corn. Because of that, I think I've lost the taste for it altogether. I still have a few things in my freezer that I have not yet tasted, but I'll update this review when that happens. I did not interact with any staff except the cashier & bagboy and they were both nice and friendly. I'd return to this location again and recommend it to others.

Yes. Did the cashier look me in the eye and say literally anything helpful? No. I had to learn through social media that these innocent-looking little worms have allegedly sent people into emergency negotiations with their digestive systems. So now my bag of sweet-and-sour gummy worms remains sealed because I, for one, prefer my organ systems unchallenged. No warning. No, "Hey maybe don't eat these before a road trip." Just, "that'll be $3.99." One serving of these gummy worms, eight pieces, has 14g of fiber. That's 50% of your daily value! The only warning on the front of the bag is a cute little worm declaring that the gummy worms are, "not a low calorie food." At least the Trader Joe's, "Just a Handful of Pitted Salted Manzanilla Olives" for $0.99 were good. But the amount of olives I eat in one sitting, I would need the Costco size container.

The first thing I noticed was the entrance it's positioned on the side of the building facing smaller neighboring businesses. It's a bit unusual and honestly made me second-guess parking and going in at first because the exterior gave off a slightly off vibe. The layout just feels like it could be clearer or more inviting. Inside the bakery section, a very friendly gentleman was going through and tallying up leftover baked goods. I asked what he was doing,( because I'm noisey lol) he explained they were accounting for what was left some items get sold and some get discarded. It did make me think about food waste and how leftover items could potentially be put to better use. I was still able to grab what I came for, and the service overall was good. It also seemed like they were in closing cleanup mode, even though the store was still open, likely due to a slow "happy hour" type period with very few customers. Only real downside for me would be visiting later in the day when it gets dark the exterior and setup don't feel the most comfortable at night. During the day though, I'd return again. The employees in bakery definitely deserves credit for being helpful and handling everything smoothly There's plenty of parking in front
