I decided to stop in the new store this evening. It's clean and laid out well with some beautiful displays. I was impressed with the produce and paid a little more than usual for some gorgeous peaches. Sadly, they were prettier than they tasted (Little flavor; maybe picked too early?). There was a lot to entice me: sushi, pizza, ready-to-cook meals, etc. Sadly, while I was drooling over the cheese selection, I noticed all of the cuts were large--far more than a single person would need. They have some unusual items, and the bakery kept calling, but I resisted. This just isn't a place to do my regular shopping. read more

You know, it's a Whole Foods. I went in to make some Amazon returns--that part was fast and easy. Decided to do some shopping since I was there. Pretty par for the course for a Whole Foods--big and shiny and full of very expensive food. There was a sushi sale so I got some for dinner. The sushi was decent. I spent a ridiculous amount for not that many items--a good reminder of why I usually shop other places. But besides the price, it's a cool place to shop and I'm sure many people are glad it's in the neighborhood. read more

The prettiest Whole Foods I've ever been in! This is in a newer plaza, with easy parking areas to get in and out easily. This location has a smoothie, coffee and food area to sit and enjoy your drinks and food. The staff served our smoothie and coffee fast despite the busy smoothie bar. I was excited to go to the new Whole Foods store. I honestly don't go to the shopping area in Paradise Valley much as the circular road and oddly shaped parking lots play havoc with my orderly living mind. I really liked how spacious this newest Whole Foods is, the aisles are very wide, really high ceilings give it a very expansive feel. I liked how the cheese and charcuterie items are displayed. It has a more European feel in that area which I like. Also they still gave the small two tier shopping trolleys for patron use. The Mayo Clinic Whole Foods no longer has the smaller ones for patron use anymore, just employees, which doesn't make sense. I like using the smaller trolleys. The huge window wall which you face in the self checkout lane does pose a problem when the sun is directly in your eyes while paying. Over all I really liked the big spacious feel and if I happen to be in the area I will go again but I don't go to this area much due to the traffic and congestion. read more

I don't shop at Whole Foods, however, I spent about 45 minutes with friend who was waiting for some lemon pepper chicken to go at their hot bar. This is a relatively new store and it was crowded Sunday afternoon. Had a chance to look around. I worked in grocery stores for about 10 years in my younger years. Place was clean, staff and people were friendly. Prices are higher than I pay. Lots of organic foods which increase the consumer cost. Impressive quality so you get what you pay for like everything else. Hot bar, bakery, deli, meat and produce areas looked great and would not hesitate to shop for those items. I don't buy organic foods so still not my go to place unless I was in the area. read more

This location of Whole Foods is large, new and sprawling! Probably the best location in the Valley. The selection of produce, bakery, and groceries here is unbeatable. There are plenty of cashiers as well as self checkout kiosks so we were in and out with our grocery haul in a jiffy. read more

People often say that Whole Foods is very pricey and many items are, but if you take the time to look around, you will find all sorts of mark-downs and specials that bring the prices down to where you may be used to and even below that! I was able to get a package of croissants at 50% off and although they were not as fresh, I knew I wanted them slightly toasted anyway and they were perfect! I was impressed with the spaciousness of the store and how well displayed everything was too. Plus, if you read the ingredients on their products, you will find that they are of a higher quality than you may be used to getting. For ex., the croissants had actual butter in them, and flavor and texture-wise it makes a difference. I gathered together all sorts of items into a foldable cardboard container (yay, no styrofoam!) from the hot bar but I think the per pound rate should be capped at $10 since it's not as if the items are made up fresh at time of order like in a restaurant, and all you can eat buffets can be found that are under $20. However, I did have nice selection and it was nice to have items from various cuisines so I had East Indian, Asian, and tasty meatloaf too. However, it was inconvenient to carry my meal and some purchases over to the self checkout and try to figure out the system, but a helpful associate came over since the 50% off item would not ring up with the discount--their markdowns need to have a new UPC code placed over the old one to avoid these problems. The seating area is very pleasant inside or you can sit on the patio overlooking palm trees and mts. can be seen in the distance. I also ordered a delicious matcha tea at the coffee and juice corner and it was good to see such pleasant interaction as the staff patiently answered many questions about the various fresh juice combinations that are available. I was surprised at the amt. of waste of celery bottoms though. Maybe these can be donated to a soup kitchen or the zoo.... Kudos for the sturdy cardboard straws! The salad bar, hot food bar and deli are really good at this location. Everything was very freshly prepared at lunch hour on a Friday and there is plenty of both inside and outside shaded seating - 5 stars for the food bar. The grocery store is nicely architected - lot of natural light, though the selection is smaller than some other Whole Foods in the Valley (4 star) - for example the one on Mayo Boulevard is much larger. read more

At about 5 PM it's a little cold. The reciept and the picture of the small container show what I got for little more than eight bucks. The soda is one of the biggest bargains you may never see again. It's under a dollar a can. Some were on sale for seventy-one cents a can: cheap. The Chicken Tiki Masala was as spicy as it is at any buffet not very. It did taste like Chicken Masala. The naan was cold and a bit dried out. Cold Chick Peas were added. If you get on the self-pay line there is a microwave on the Utensil table. The Microwave is effective, but its operation is more complex than necessary. The selection is large and extremely varied. At 5:00 PM Its exposure appeared long. It's possible to have a fresh buffet at 5 PM; but if you want fresh, go at lunch time. Whole food buffet goes where no other supermarket buffet dares to go. They have a microwave that works and this neat plastic silverware dispenser. Whole Foods buffet would get three stars based on the food. The diverse selection(s) makes it four. I don't do my main shopping at Whole Foods but tend to go there for the following: (hot and salad bar) for dinner on busy evenings Desserts When we want a quality steak or some fresh seafood. Specialty products that you can't get at Fry's Certain self care and hygiene items Before this one opened, we typically went to the Whole Foods on Mayo rather than the old one on Shea and Tatum because their hot food bar was just , well, sad and the Mayo location *never* disappoints. I was really excited about this new one since its less than 1 mile from my residence, but unfortunately have been less than impressed. They have only been open since October so I am going to keep trying but I wanted to write this so hopefully someone there sees some of the things I've experienced and maybe this could make a difference. First thing is the hot food bar. One would expect to be able to go in there at dinner time and see a fully stocked hot food bar. NOPE. Maybe 2 or 4 trays of food, and just the last bits of TIRED soup- most gone. I asked the food manager about this and they told me they put "dinner" out at about 2:30 pm. I asked why they wouldn't put it out closer to dinner time and I was told that it just wasn't busy enough to do that. But maybe its (not busy then) because there is never any dinner out at that time??? Its sad because we are busy folks like many and it would be wonderful if we could get dinner here more often. Read: TAKE MY MONEY!! In November we got some pretty terribly tough steaks but the manager made it right (we called it was soooo bad) We have been back several times including last night to get steaks for grilling and they all have been wonderful since then. What prompted me to finally write this review was the quality of the 10 jumbo cooked shrimp (for shrimp cocktail) that I got along with said steaks. Got them home and they were SLIMY. There was a slimy coating on them; they were past their prime and OLD and had a slight odor, too! They only cost us about 13 bucks so I didn't make a fuss but I am really hoping the quality of the seafood improves and the hot bar timing improves. Geri is the sweetest! She was so helpful to myself and my 2 year old when I asked her to grab a table for lunch and the one we chose was snagged from her. Geri stopped scanning my groceries and took all our lunch items to the last open table and walked my kid to the table and pushed her chair in and everything. If that wasn't enough kindness, when we were through with our lunch she brought a basket of snacks over for my kids to choose one for dessert. In October, this Whole Foods Market opened with more than 50,000 square feet of space, which is where the previous smaller location at Tatum and Shea relocated to. While I would go to Sprouts at Tatum and Cactus more often than the previous location, now I really enjoy going to this new Whole Foods Market at the location of the old Paradise Valley Mall as a part of the new redevelopment. This is a large store with many employees, great service, and plenty of offerings! I typically go for a few quick items or something specific. There is a huge amount of convention and organic produce, an expanded bakery department with made-in-house bread, a full-service coffee and juice bar, an expanded whole body department with wellness items, a chocolate and cheese department, a curated grocery department with more than 330 local items from Arizona, a full-service seafood counter, a full-service meat counter, an extensive selection of more than 700 wines and 250 local beer options, and a larger prepared foods department with a salad bar, hot bar, fresh pizza, made-to-order sandwiches, and rotisserie chicken. On my most recent visit to Whole Foods Market, I ordered a meal to go from the prepared foods department including honey dijon chicken breast, salt and pepper green beans, and seasoned brussel sprouts, all for $12. They were delicious and less expensive than a meal at many of the nearby restaurants! Amazon Prime members can shop at Whole Foods and take advantage of a number of benefits from discounts on products and in-store sale items, paying in-store with Amazon One or the Amazon app, and return items at the Amazon returns counter in the store (though anyone can do this last one). Salad bar & hot food bar is always terrible in the early evening . Everything is old & crusty . The hot food is always cold . The soups are all bad & have been sitting there with no employees bothering to check them or make any attempt to spruce them up . Been there numerous times and its always that way . Today I just gave up & left knowing I was going to get cold old food that was sitting around all day . Terrible management to let it happen over & over . Even the pizza was old & crusty . It should have been thrown out hours ago . Who would buy it looking the way it did . Surprised they let that happen. Said something to the girls at the pizza counter & all they said was they would let someone know I said it was terrible.... So many restaurant choices around here ,wont want to try that again unless there is a huge improvement. I love this store and the people who get hired here. My favorite part of the store is the meat department where I am met with really smart and knowledgeable people with outstanding customer service skills. Those individuals' names are Luis, Mario and Mikey. I think it is spelled that way. I even forgot one of my steaks and very intelligent, courageous person not mentioned above came and gave me my steak. I mentioned I would come up with a new system. The selection of meat is always 5 stars and are constantly looking for more options for the customer to choose from. I have nonverbal learning disorder and they are always accommodating and always help me if I need help. We moved from California where ALL the Whole Foods in a 20 mile radius were kept completely pristine with amazing customer service. Salad bars were immaculate and freshly stocked at all times. When we moved here to the Tatum area and both my daughter and I were devastated when we realized THIS was "our new Whole Foods." The previous location down the street had the worst salad bar and hot food bar - inedible, dried up or sparse and never restocked. They explained "we just add food twice a day and x time and Y time. Well, when the location changed up we hoped things would change. And they did - the first week. Things looked great with ample options and actual fresh options! But every week since then we have come to find completely dried up food that has been sitting for hours, and overcooked white rice that was legit MUSH and had no place being sold (reminder, it's not cheap!). Have you ever returned food from a salad bar? I haven't. And I wont start. I'm hoping the management team gets this stores act together because I really want to believe this place can raise their standards. Figure out a system to and feed the poor with food that's not suitable for purchase. There's just no excuse. read more

With the move from Tatum/Shea to the new PV development, this location has gotten a huge facelift. Everything is brand new and the amount of space has increased significantly! I never really had any issues finding the things I needed at the former location, but I'm excited nonetheless to have this even closer to home! I have spotted some of the old staff and some newer folks as well, all of which have been friendly so far. Their hot food and dessert section is clean and does appear to have fresher options now! I do worry a bit about the parking situation when the influx of people eventually move in, but for now, sharing a parking lot with Flower Child has been ample! read more

So, I had a $3.99 slice of Pizza and had to wait behind a guy who had $440.00 in Groceries. Because I had cash I couldn't pay at self checkout. The Cashiers at the store make it seem that you're shopping at the Elite Grocery store. I began calling Whole Foods "The Snootery" when they were next to OHSO and Trader Joes based on how I was treated by a snooty cashier. Im a blue collar FRYS guy who sometimes goes to Sprouts. Also, definitely not a good *Amazon* pickup location as it is not a "locker" and it is actually a "counter" with an attendant, that doesn't keep the same hours as the store-for example, arrived an hour before the store closed expecting to pick up my package, but was told (by the attendant still present at the counter) that I could not. I was very disappointed there were none in the case. I asked an employee who was stocking tables if there might be any more someplace. Greg went out of his way to check the back & since they were out, he made up a four pack for me. He was so nice & I really appreciate his actions as I had family visiting this weekend. Also stopped by the in-house coffee shop & picked up an iced latte that was very good. The store is new & well laid out. Much nicer than old location down the street.
