They have tacos, burritos, tortas, and plates of choice of meat, rice, and beans. Ambiance: quaint little Food court, no more than six tables right next to the jewelry stall. Fairly well kept and clean. Food/Service: I went with the green chili plate was quite good. Also enjoyed an Horchata. Service was very friendly and prompt. Price: Fairly priced. Overall: very similar to Ranch Market but the selection is much smaller, but on the plus side there's essentially no wait to get your food, whereas at ranch market you're looking at a line of 10 to 15 people. read more

I was in this store shopping and had nothing short of a great experience. I asked someone in produce a question and he not only answered me he showed me where to find the item that was not produce related. Store is sparking clean. Well stocked with good prices. OK so I have been going to this Food City for a few weeks now for the morning champurado fix. The service at the food counter is the best. The ladies here are so good at taking care of me when I show up. The champurado is so good here that my co-worker wants me to pick up a cup for her when ever I get one for myself. I am a bit confused because when I asked one of the ladies for the store number she said it was #13 but yelp says it's #9. So I'm leaving this review under #9 because it's the one one McDowell and the 51 freeway. Come check these ladies out they will get you going in no time at all and with a smile. Love the bakery they do a great job as far as the women manager she was very rude. I left a bag of paid groceries there and called to say we would pick them back up. Coming back to pick them up it was as if I am trying to come get stolen goods. She not helpful and was very rude about the whole situation. Not to mention there was a receipt. We stopped in here late one Saturday night to grab a couple of emergency ingredients that I needed to prepare the dish that I was taking to a luncheon the next day. As we were walking in I noticed a young, smartly dressed Hispanic guy standing out front of the store with a gaggle of young ladies in tight dresses. It was late at night on a Saturday and I didn't think too much about it. Inside the store I noticed that it was clean and well organized. We were able to find the ingredients that we needed right away, and at a reasonable price and checked out without any wait. The clerk that checked us out was friendly too. We walked back to our car in the parking lot and after we climb in my husband says in a disgusted tone under his breath that he can't believe that the store management allows that to happen right in front of the store. Being slightly buzzed from a few drinks earlier in the night I'm not sure I understood what he meant so I said "huh?" and he explains exactly what he means to me.... In incredulous shock I look back across the parking lot at where they are standing and look again. Sure enough I now understand what he means; it was clear as day on second glance. So, I guess if you are shopping for more than just groceries at 11 PM on a weekend this is the place to come. :/ read more

This appears to be the Mothership of Food City stores here in the Phoenix Valley. This place is GIGANTIC! Not only is it huge, but it's very clean, spacious, organized, and brightly lit. I had lunch there this afternoon, just wanted to try something different. At the deli counter (Tortilleria), I had a chile colorado burrito, and a half pound of shrimp ceviche. Fan-Frickin-Tastic!!!! The burrito was muxch better than some I've had in regular sit-down restaurants. The super friendly lady made the burrito fresh to order, with cheese, sour cream, cilantro, green salsa, and refried beans. And, the ceviche was fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Why buy jar salsa when you can get authentic and fresh salsas from the deli counter here? Next time you have a shindig, get some stuff from here. I will definitely be back here for some shopping and lunch. Most excellent. read more

This place is awesome for all your Mexican food needs. The store carries limited selection so if your looking for something that you can find at your local grocery store it might not be here. I recently made a batch of strawberry tamales and found everything I needed except for the strawberries. Hehe. As I was very limited on time it was awesome that I found remade unseasoned masa por tamales. This place has great prices for all their products. Let's say I shop there pretty much weekly for my vegetables this time I went in made a couple purchases went to check out there was a problem with the pin pad long story short while I sat there and try to tell the gentleman at the checkout at there's something wrong with the pin pad he pretty much ignored me and talked to his coworker about him going to the gym he would clear the machine try it again continue talking showed him it's still not working after about 5 minutes of this in the line growing longer he has to reboot the machine he says he's going to go to a different line so I'm standing there waiting and waiting and waiting finally he asked one of his co-worker after about 10 minutes of just standing there.. no hey don't worry ma'am will take care of you nothing worst customer service ever let's just say I will not return to his line ever again after I finally got help by another associate he just simply didn't have no words for me or anything never again if you had been paying attention when I was trying to tell him from the beginning there's something wrong with the pin pad instead of deciding to converse with his co-worker I wouldn't have been standing there so long what he should have done was try to take care of the customer first instead of standing there chit-chatting with his associate friend never again read more

Came for produce since I was in the neighborhood. They have the best, freshest, produce at the most amazing prices. Avocados 5 for $1, Celery 79 cents, Papaya at 88 cents a pound. Where in the world can you get these prices except for Food City. There were meats on sale including chicken for 47 cents a pound. Couldn't buy because I didn't have a cooler to keep the meats chilled. Great clean supermarket. read more

Horrible, been going to this location ever since I can remember but lately Idk the staff seem to be slacking on their jobs. just recently My mom had purchased a package of meat and when the Cashier flipped it to get the price a freaken fly was in the package! So gross! I immediately told my mom and the cashier had the other worker get another package without asking my mom or telling my mom about the incident. My mom told them to not bother that she didn't want another package. In an other occasion My bf purchased a Nutella container, (I checked the exp date on it and it was good) , and some "fresh berries" well when we got home we opened the Nutella it was so hard to get a scoop out of it, and it tasted weird, it seemed to be stored at that shelve for a pretty long time, second the berries had mold already growing in em! Love this place my family has been shopping here for well over 20 years I believe and we have never had a problem with their service, the staff is super friendly and you can still get it out of there with a cart full of groceries fairly quickly on a pretty busy night they also sell this awesome family pack of meat and poultry for 20 bucks great for bargain shoppers it comes with a packet of ground beef, a packet of pork chops, a packet of red meat/steak, and a packet of chicken (it's typically boneless skinless chicken breast at that) and each one of those is at a decent amount enough to feed a family of 4/5 I highly recommend this place read more

I have found a few expired items on the shelves and have had to return them for credit which is inconvenient. This happens so often that before I put items in the cart, I always check for expiration dates. The Food City on 35th Ave/West Van Buren is the main store where I buy MOST of the groceries. It has been for a few years the practice of loading the bags and the cashiers would then place them in front of the conveyor where we could reach them and then put them in the carts. That is poor service especially if one is a senior and/or customers have rotator cuffs or other upper extremity injuries. NOW, the cashiers load the bags and leave them right where they were loaded. Now we have to reach over the debit machine and over some of the goodies place in front of the customer. The customer service gets worse as time wears on. Today, I hurt my arms reaching over and the shoulders and my back were aching by the time I got in the car. Back to Safeway .... read more
