I have been shopping at this Food Lion for 3+ years since I moved to Creedmoor, and my partner has been even longer, and I'm not sure what's going on but there has been a noticeable drop in quality over the summer. The selection has always been limited, and I expect that from a small town Food Lion, but I used to at least be able to go here and stock up on staples that don't need to be fancy. Now I'm frustrated to the point where I don't even feel like it's worth my time to do that. I no longer purchase much fresh fruit here, because what's on the floor is moldy or clearly about to go moldy any second. I got burned more than once this year buying strawberries that looked iffy but still ok (because that was all they had), only to get them out of the fridge the next morning to find the container full of mold. I've also had issues with shelved food, such as chocolate bars that I opened to find had clearly completely melted at some point. Today, I ended up leaving again without items on my shopping list, because everything they had out was spoiled. Bunches of cilantro with all the leaves blackened and slimy, moldy and mushy onions, beef that has turned totally gray in the packaging, and no distilled water left on the shelf. It also seems like a lot of the regular employees I had gotten used to seeing are no longer there. To me, it seems like a serious management problem that needs to be addressed ASAP. read more

Sue hit the nail on the head with this store, although she was far too kind in her star rating. Creedmoor has two options for grocery stores - Food Lion and Food Lion. The next option is about 15 miles out of town. I'm a steak and potatoes kind of person and I've been spoiled up in NoVA and New York by places like Wegmans and Martin's (taking after the Wegmans model with its latest stores). I could go to the meat counter and get custom cuts if I wanted them. Then I moved to Creedmoor, NC. Even my last visit to this Food Lion, I went in to find what was on sale in the meat department, specific cuts of steaks. There was very little to be found, and what was there I wasn't willing to buy - thin steaks or extremely poor quality (old) meat. Nobody was willing to pay attention from the meat service dept. What is even more exasperating is the prices - Food Lion further north was known for being a bit on the inexpensive side, but here it seems like the priciest (and only) game around. I'll travel to Raleigh to do my grocery shopping and avoid this place if at all possible. My only visits now are if I'm in a pinch for a specific ingredient. read more

You are what your demographics say you are. In the grocery business you have many competitors, but here in Creedmoor, you have Food Lion. So, I'm happy to have Food Lion. Food Lion, being a good large grocer, will adjust price and inventory to the local market. So you have a low price point that makes it pretty cheap to shop here, it's hard to beat the prices. The flip side is that specially foods tend to not last or be found at all here. I've spoken with some guys there, and many types of meat are not carried because a sample is brought in, and then nobody buys it, so the permanent selection stays basic. There's some gems, grass fed beef, ground, carried on ~2 week intervals based on expiration date. Other cuts come and go. Generally it's hard to find organic meats here, and sometimes organic anything. More specialized tastes will need to drive to Harris Teeter 15 miles south. For example, it took until 2013 when Sriracha sauce was added, and I am still waiting on grass fed butter. Am I a grocery snob? Maybe, but I know what's healthy and what's junk, and the economics involved. I also know of a generally friendly staff, short lines, easy drive, and interesting rearrangements of store shelves, to keep you on your toes. read more

To expand a little. This is actually a fairly nice food lion, probably in the 4/5 range of food lions. It is always clean, organized, and well-staffed, and I've never not been able to find something or been able to easily find an associate to find it for me. That being said I have fairly simple tastes and don't buy a lot of pre-packaged foods. My grocery shopping chiefly consists of produce, meat, eggs, salsa, beans, and the occasional bag of corn chips, so I can't comment on their selection of Haagen-daz or Hamburger Helper. To give an idea, this is my rating system of grocery store chains assuming they are of a high caliber for their specific franchise (clean, organized, decent staff). I'm amazed that African Americans can stand to work here. I'm just a customer and I get treated like I'm on Americas Most Wanted when all I bring in is my billfold and my kids. Yes, I am a fan because this store is always clean and the people working there are so friendly. I would like to ask that you carry Luck's Fried Peaches like you did all summer. They are a favorite product of ours but now you are not carrying them for some reason which forces us to go to other stores in search of products that you SHOULD carry. I walked around looking for a lion made out of food for 12 hours. I couldn't find one surprisingly. Seems like a case of false advertising, but I didn't report them the FTC. Maybe it was feeding time or something and they hid the lion of food in the back? I guess any things possible. read more

I have lived in every corner of the country as well as parts in-between. This is a quintessential corner grocery store. People complaining about selection are being ridiculous. You dont go to Burger King and complain when Wagyu beef patties arent available. The store is clean. The staff is helpful. The lines are short. I'm happy. read more

Where to begin....My wife was a recent employee of this store.She worked in the deli and was just made employee of the month.She is a very good natured person and hard worker.The trouble started when the store manager [Tony] began hiring unqualified applicants to fill open positions in the deli.These folks were and are very rude to the customers as well as to their fellow employees.The long time manager of the deli [Darlene] has always been a hard working person and very fair to her employees.The store manager [Tony] has been trying to remove Darlene from her position since he became manager at this location.Tony has also recently hired one person in particular who he seems to want to have take over the deli managerial job.This person has been caught stealing from this store recently by her fellow employees but is still being offered the deli manager position by the store manager [Tony] .My wife has made the decision to leave this store because of the un-professionalism of the store manager [Tony] and these newly hired employees....In conclusion,it seems very obvious that Tony has some sort of ties with this new store employee that he so badly wants to install as the new deli manager.Sadly,It seems that the Food Lion corporation will never do anything about this situation. read more

Before I dive into why I'm providing this specific Food Lion with this low rating, I feel that the context of our current financial situation is needed. Me and my wife are in our mid twenties with a lovely 3 year old boy, I work and attend school full time while she stays at home with our child. We live in subsidized housing and receive EBT, a situation neither of us wanted to be in, but you've got to do what you can to get by, right? Our money has always been tight, but the past couple of months we've seen an increase in our rent alongside SGWASA's rate increase, which has put an unapologetic strain on our ability to survive. It has become a situation for us where we have to debate whether to pay our rent in full or have gas in our vehicles. The other day, my wife stopped by this Food Lion, which has been our preferred store for over a year now, and got some produce and other items for dinner that night. However, upon eating the meal she had made, we were all met with a terrible chemical taste, and upon closer inspection of the salad mix we had just purchased we discovered half of a shell of a yellow ladybug, which indicated to us that this salad mix was not prewashed like the packaging indicated, and that we were quite possibly ingesting pesticides and whatever else. My wife went to go exchange the items, and was told by the manager, a older woman with long blonde hair, that there was "nothing wrong with this stuff," and that she would only do the exchange once and overall providing borderline hostile customer service. It is because of this manager's attitude that I am leaving this review and recommending that everyone steer clear of this store, it has become clear to us that they simply do not give a damn about the quality of their products and, even more importantly, do not give a damn about their customers. What we returned cost us $7, which to most would just be a write off, but with out current financial situation having an entire meal go to waste because of poor quality control is a BIG deal, and then to be met with such a hostile experience when attempting to exchange said products is beyond ridiculous. The Food Lion off of NC-56, however, is staffed with friendly people who seem to actually care about not just the quality of their products, but the quality of service they deliver. I would recommend that anyone shopping at this Food Lion go there instead. read more

I shopped here quite a few times and I find it one of the best Food Lion stores around and the staff is always friendly to me. I'm not sure where the negative reviews come from. We have several of these stores in Durham where I live, and this one is much better, by far. This store is clean and it is easy for me to find what I need. read more
