I just wanted to update my review because I still continue to come here. I prefer Food Lion prices to another local grocery store chain because I feel like Food Lion is a little less expensive. I have come here and they are very low on pretty much all of their produce and vegetables. I have also came here and they are fully stocked like today. I was able to find everything I needed. I really love that they had a section of baked goods that were made in a peanut free facility since I do have a child with an allergy. Our cashier was very friendly and I I really appreciate that. I would up at the five stars but I do come here frequently and there are days where they are very low on everything so I will keep it at 4 stars. read more

Local shopping in Yorktown area at Eustis Blvd and 17. Always clean and friendly. Prices average for most other Food Lion chains in the area. Located right next to a Pizza Hut, Dry Cleaning, Chinese Take Out and Hair care products joints. So if you want to do more than grocery shop... U can. read more

B.S. Ratings. I'm new in the area - moved to York Town from Long Beach, California - arrived yesterday morning. I'm only here temporarily for an internship (4 months), so naturally I needed to get some food and basic necessities for my apartment. Food Lion was the closest grocery store to my location (don't have a car), and based off the current 3 star reviews, I was expecting a limited selection, high prices, and bad service... Not the case. Food Lion has a very wide selection, from food to house maintenance (even tupper-ware) it carries a high variety of items that any common household might need, and it also has loyalty reward system (free - called MVP). I recently turned vegetarian and to my surprise, they even had meat substitute products (Tofurkey, and Morning Star). Got me some Deutsche beers (good variety available), produce, and necessities; it's a full-on grocery store. Lastly, I talked to two employees - one to inquire on availability of vegetarian substitute products, and the other the cashier - and both were friendly enough and helpful (my cashier was very amiable, shoutout to you Dillon, great attitude). If you're from the West Coast/California, this store is comparable to Pavilions//Vons, Ralphs, Walgreens. Not bad. The prices on EVERYTHING are incredibly overpriced!!! i don't want to hear the inflation excuse! The produce NEVER lasts more than a day once I get it home and it is often moldy. I get GREAT produce at Kroger and Harris Teeter! read more

Not sure why others marked this place down so much. The store: compared to Farm Fresh, Food Lion is a much smaller establishment. They carry the essentials; beer, wine, fruits, vegetables, meat and anything you need to make a good dinner or whatever you are in the mood for. There is no deli or fresh seafood but plenty in the refrigerated sections. The staff: never had an issue, everyone is always happy to be there and cashiers greet and respect everyone equally. Parking: shopping center just recently got renovated, the asphalt still smells new. All the pot holes are gone and there is plenty of space to park. read more

I have been shopping at this Food Lion for the past twenty years. I have seen cashiers come and go. At this time the store is undergoing some remodeling and the staff has changed completely. I don't recognize any of them. Saturday night I ran in the store to pick up a few things and I paid by check. The cashier wasn't rude or impolite, he just didn't acknowledge me at all. After I wrote my check and handed it to him it cleared immediately but before he handed me my check and receipt he took out his cell phone and took a picture of my check. I got a really weird feeling inside and he never explained why he took a picture of my check. I have been worried all weekend about this and plan to contact my bank on Monday to place a hold on any checks. I also plan to call the manager of the store to ask when it became standard procedure for an employee to walk around with a picture of a customers check in his cell phone. If I need to contact officials about any irregularities to my account, I know where to start. I have always enjoyed shopping at Food Lion, but this man gives me the creeps. I hope he will soon be gone. I hope he doesn't have any designs on using my checking account and my signature. read more

I have absolutely no idea how some of these employees still have jobs (dude you know who you are!!!). Perhaps they're friends of the manager or something. But really? No greeting, no acknowledgement, and playing on your cellphone by the cash register WHILE your checking me out?! Then just putting my receipt out. Dang! I'd get more out of a self check out machine! Rude, unprofessional, and makes me never want to visit this store. read more

I love my Food Lion. I've been shopping here since they opened probably close to 30 years ago. They do have a deli, someone said there was no deli. I have never had an employee be rude to me. They are all very friendly. Personally, I like a smaller store. I don't shop Walmart, even though things may be a little cheaper, because it's not convenient and I end up buying all kind of stuff I really don't need. I know a lot of the employees by first name, such as cashiers, stockers, produce & dairy workers, butchers, and managers. If someone took a picture of my check or was on their phone while checking me out, I would have gotten the manager over right then. Not saying it didn't happen, but I've never seen or heard of such a thing. If someone doesn't acknowledge you, remember you can always smile & say how's your day going. This store has always gone above & beyond helping me find things & even setting things aside for me to pick up. Remember, we all have different personalities, but maybe you can help change that. I give this store five stars. It's clean, has most everything I need, and has excellent customer service. read more
