This is a cute little Jewish deli on the Upper East Side that just feels so cozy as soon as you walk in. We have had the ham/ Swiss sandwiches as well as their egg salad ones. Everything is so fresh and the staff is welcoming as soon as you open their door. We try to stop by here at least once a week to pickup a sandwich on the go for lunch or some black/white cookies. Definitely a must try if you're in the upper east side and want to pickup a quick bite to eat.

Delicious! Grilled salmon with wild mushroom barley and sauteed shiitake mushroom and spinach.

My go-to spot on the UES. Quick to pick up hot and cold prepared foods, but they also have free delivery. Broad selection so there's something for everyone, from soups and sandwiches to lasagna, seafood and crispy glazed duck (so good, highly recommend). Everything is top quality. They also have fresh juice, awesome pasteries, and even caviar, pate and fancy cheeses. Forget fresh and co type places, keep NYC real and support local! You'll get a better meal here anyway.

    Scrambled bacon egg and cheese

The Scrambled bacon egg and cheese on this freshly baked and toasty roll I swear is THE BEST I've had in a long time. Definitely a must if you're in the area on the go and looking for something to hit the spot! Price reasonable, service was fast and the staff is extremely friendly. The coffee is amazing as well. I would give this place 10 stars if I could!

Mostly gluten free and healthy portion sizes. - Grilled Chicken Swisswich - was an interesting mix of Bacon jam, gruyère, lettuce, avocado aioli on a toasted ciabatta. Not bad and came with some Herb fries. Service - (4/5) - servers were friendly and fairly attentive. Can get a bit busy and took bit longer than expected to get the order but regular check-ins afterwards. Atmosphere - (4/5) - it's at the bottom of the Edison Hotel so there isn't a dedicated restroom it's by the hotel lobby. Dim and homey feel to the layout and furniture/lighting. They have a partnership with a company that provides singing servers during dinner hour. Keep in mind they add a mandatory 5% fee on your bill for this! Overall - (4/5) - not a bad place and good for GF customers and those staying in the hotel.

I did not experience the singing servers during my patronized visit. Upon entering the Maître d' announced "right now, we're only seating at the bar counter not at tables," so why do I see patrons sitting at booth tables? It was somewhat busy but not at full capacity for full-on hustle bustle busy. Friedman's is located adjacent to Hotel Edison and restroom facility is in the hotel's lobby. Access to Hotel Edison's facility is limited as the hotel's staff will stop all who enter as I am not a hotel guest. I believe Friedman's is very overhype, and overrated. My male server/waiter calls all the female patrons "love" which does not bother me and does not irk me at all. But please do not call me "babe", "baby", "mamma" or "mommy" as these are too sexist, outdated and stereotype in some cultures/race directed at women. Pastrami on Rye $26.00 Mustard, pickle and vinegar chips The meat heavily embedded with a lot of white fat stretched and stuck together when bitten. The mustard was mild spicy which gave the meat a zesty kick for aliveness, but minimally applied. The pickle was average. The vinegar chips were very stale and harden. The rye bread was average with caraway seeds which was blah. I am uninterested in caraway seeds. Friedman's is certainly a modern American luncheonette. No comment for alcohol as I not order any. There are no business cards for keepsake. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 20%, 22% and 25% where customers do not have to perform math calculation.

The Logistics & Ordering The menu is expansive, spanning three screens with an incredible variety of bagel types, cream cheese flavors, meats, and cheeses. Despite the line, the ordering process was straightforward. A major plus: you have the option to have your bagel toasted before they assemble the sandwich. Our coffees were ready within 2-3 minutes, and the sandwiches followed about 10 minutes later--very reasonable given how busy they were. The Food I went with a classic Sausage, Egg, and Cheese on an Egg Bagel. * The Bagel: The egg bagel itself was phenomenal. I paid $9 for a tiny square of vegan pizza that looked more like a sample than a slice. The toppings slid off immediately, so eating it felt like trying to balance vegetables on a sponge. The bread was the worst part -- cheap, rubbery, and had that "is this food or recycled yoga mat?" texture. For $9, I expected an actual decent vegan pizza, not a tiny piece of sad bread with toppings that gave up before I did. I appreciate that they offer vegan options, but this needs serious work. The portion was small, the crust tasted cheap, the toppings didn't stay on, and overall it was not worth the money. Vegan food does not have to be this depressing.
