    Italian sub
    Samantha B.

Came here while visiting the city with some friends who come here very often. They love this place and after coming I see why. The restaurant gave a very mom and pop diner vibe and the owner/manager was so friendly, coming around to chat and make sure everything was good. The menu is extensive and we as a party were able to get breakfast and lunch items which was great for each person's cravings at the time. I ordered the Italian sub and it was packed. Very delicious it hit the spot! I would definitely come back here and would recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a quick and simple breakfast or lunch. Very cozy feeling place, thoroughly enjoyed it!

A quick six-block walk south from our nearby hotel down York Avenue brought my wife, daughter, and me to the Mansion for breakfast on a Monday at 8 am. The dining room was not too busy at this time. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a large table in the corner. They have just about everything on the breakfast menu. I ordered cinnamon raisin French toast with a side of bacon (limp). They had a special on free coffee and juice with any breakfast entree, so I got pineapple juice. They can fresh-squeeze orange juice if you want that. While waiting for our food to arrive, we people-watched the passersby outside and enjoyed the Sinatra music piped in. We saw a couple of regulars show up, along with a lovely family of four with two young children. There's also a big-screen TV with NY1 news on.. My French toast was huge and delicious. The bacon came out floppy just like I prefer it. The other meals were tasty as well. Everything was excellent, and the service was friendly and prompt. We can't wait to come back again.

Pretty good food, and the service is great. I've always had very gracious waiters. But the menu is so incredibly overpriced. Toast with deli ham and scrambled eggs, 2 sausages on the side is $40, for example, which is wild to me. But the waffles are so good it's almost worth it. That said, I'd rather walk the two extra blocks for better prices and food that's just as good.

Came here on a Monday night and the restaurant only had a couple tables taken. We were greeted very quickly, and seated too. We ordered two smash burgers, and one cheeseburger with fries, topped with cheese and gravy. The regular cheeseburger was good, and so where the fries; what truly takes the trophy, are the smash burgers and the fries they came with! The smash burgers were thin, yet, very filling and flavorful, and the wedge fries on the side were just fantastic: they weren't thick wedges, but not too thin either, however, they were incredibly crispy and soft in certain spots at the same time. The place looks like an older diner, which is what it is, and it is actually really nicely decorated for Halloween! The prices are a bit high, in my opinion, especially because I come from Jersey and diner food tends to be a tad bit more affordable. This is the only reason why I am giving them four stars instead of five.

The Mansion is a staple in the neighborhood and has been for a long time! I understand operating costs have definitely gone up over the years but I still found some of the prices here hard to swallow. A Cobb salad for nearly $30? I'm sure it's a very generous size, but that's pricey. We ended up ordering mostly sandwiches, and the prices were better, although the portions were on the smaller size. The staff were very accommodating and it's a family friendly spot so I added a star for this! Ordered: Fresh toast sticks- these were quite good and were coated in crushed cornflakes, which was something different. They came with a sprinkling of blueberries and powdered sugar on top. Sweet and spicy crispy chicken sandwich- the sandwich itself was pretty good and not greasy however, the size was very small. It came with some tasty fries that were seasoned. Breakaway chicken sandwich- this came on a large hero roll and so I thought it was a bigger portion. However, when you open the sandwich you saw that the chicken didn't take up the length of the roll so it was also on the smaller side. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a spot with lots of options, I'd check out the Mansion!

I ordered a steak and egg sandwich, and the steak tasted as if it were cooked in old/rancid oil. Everything else was cooked fairly well, including my eggs, but I was so sad because I really wanted to like my food. Everything else seemed fine food-wise, and we had an excellent server. Maybe I should stick to my usual breakfast order of some iteration of Eggs Benedict. The place itself has a nice classic diner vibe, and is good for seating groups to eat together. Maybe I just got unlucky, but I am not likely to come back here.

A bit on the pricey side of UES, as you can see the omelette wasn't that big and I think there was a miscommunication with our order of the pancakes, we wanted the filled cream pancakes but they ended up giving us a blueberries pancakes with pieces of strawberries. Looks pretty sad to be honest and it's because we saw pictures of other yelpers. Guess it's not the same anymore, so with that, giving them 3 stars. Staff was fast and quick with the services as far as making sure my coffee wasn't low and the food was hot. Only thing that I liked was the crispy hash browns and that was it.

Hate to say it but this place is over-priced and under-whelming. Not sure where a diner gets off charging these prices but felt a little ripped off. The service is friendly and quick but the food is just average and there isn't much special about the restaurant itself that I could see.

Super busy for brunch on the weekend. Lots of food options. A bit noisy if looking for a quiet place to eat. GREAT FOOD!

This diner has a ton of strengths and weaknesses. Strategically it's located close to Carl, Schultz Park, making it a common location for families in the area - and a great spot to go for a quick stroll after you're done eating. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, and the indoor almost feels like a classic bustling diner with multiple TVs and even a bar. Well staffed and with a huge menu, you won't struggle finding exactly what you want. However, the food isn't the best. Portion sizes are decent and their home-cooked potatoes are a staple item for me, but the omelettes aren't big and there isn't much flare to each dish. I get it that diners aren't meant to offer flare, but this spot makes up for it with options and location.

It's clearly evident why the pancakes at the Gold Diner are famous, viral, and most talked about. My husband and I were obsessed with the lemon zest on the butter. Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense

There was no line and I was seated immediately, but it was already packed (which indicates the food is top quality). Egg Cream: This chilled beverage has a beautiful appearance, especially the thick foam at the top. The ratio of seltzer, milk, and chocolate syrup were stirred perfectly. It was highly satisfying and a perfect alternative for a traditional breakfast drink. If you are not desiring the chocolate flavor, this specialty drink is also served in vanilla. BBC Omelette: This breakfast plate may have the same initials as the 24-hour news channel, but there is no relation whatsoever. This omelette was stuffed with broccoli, bacon, and cheddar cheese. These are not typically the toppings I order with an omelette, but I was feeling adventurous. It was a wise choice to explore this specialty plate because it surpasses my taste buds by a long shot. I never would have guessed broccoli and melted cheese taste well combined with an egg. A side of hash browns and toast is included. They were the backbone to the breakfast plate. In addition to a great meal, the service was impeccable. After I was seated, multiple servers checked up on me to make sure I wanted a drink. They always passed by and refilled my water glass.
