My dad recently needs to be on a lower sodium diet so it's nice to provide 1-2 meals per week for him with no commitment- he usually eats only half of the portion per meal and can easily know the sodium content. My wife and I have tried a few of the meals and been happy with everything - sometimes calories and fat/sodium can be a bit higher than my wife prefers for a single meal but you have all the info before ordering. There's always a salmon option, and a recent "Retro Fried Chicken Bowl" was great if slightly unhealthier than ideal but had a nice portion of well cooked chicken and included a fantastic smothered sauce plus the side of applesauce was chunky, flavorful, and just as good as we would make at home. If you don't make your own applesauce this will show you why you should do it. Nothing but positive so far, and prices generally seem consistent with the "ready to cook" options in the market but you have much less packaging waste and don't need to spend a bunch of time cooking and cleaning up which can be nice during the week. Most dishes are 2-3 minutes heating up in the microwave and end up great. Don't get me wrong, we love to cook but I prefer to use my own recipes and for my dad with limited mobility a quick, healthier microwave meal or a "soft food" option is important. And for my wife and me, this is a nice supplement to our weeknight meals. Bravo to a great local business worth supporting!

The meals have all been very delicious, even as leftovers! Recent examples: Ginger Scallion Chicken, and Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzo Balls. All the ingredients are fresh and the cooking directions are clear and easy, according to my daughter. I merely microwave the leftovers without sacrificing any taste or texture, so far so good. They will adapt most meals to your food preferences and make it clear if one has an ingredient that cant be removed (I hate mushrooms and its always quick and easy to see if they can send an option without them- never once has a meal come with them included!) Found side dishes like veggies, rice, etc., (the non meat side items) mushy and flavorless. Ended up tossing the sides most of the time. Different menues seemed like a slight variation to other menues, by changing a sauce or a vegi, fair, but to us too similar, especially if it was not well liked menu in the first place. We tried it and decided it was not for us. If that was it i would NOT have left a review, jsut let it go. What has been irritating is supposedly FACTOR is easy to 'cancel at any time'... wrong! First i skipped a few weeks, then i just decided wasnt worth it and canceled. Canceled online, filled out a survey listing why we wanted to quit etc. Weeks later I learn i am being CHARGED again, AND FACTOR has SHIPPED another box of unwanted orders! 4-5 weeks after canceling the service! Stuff happens but after waiting on hold for an hour (the recording said estimated 25 minutes, said 25 minutes for over 25 minutes. Now i'm super unhappy. After an hour on hold waiting to speak to customer service, who did after some discussion and escallation, cooperated (hopefully) to resolve my situation and canceled my subscription (for a second time). But having to wait for an hour and having my initial online request to cancel be ignored i am left frustrated with FACTOR. They lost my trust as a service. Canceling is not quick (an hour on hold) and definatley not easy, obviously online attempts to cancel are unreliable, waiting an hour for assistance to talk to a human is frustrating. I wish FACTOR luck, it just will not be with me as a customer.

So you still have to come up with the veggie, salad, bread, etc. Also their idea of a serving is the one approved by the food pyramid people, enough for a kid under 5 to eat. So it's not enough food if you have 4 people that eat. Maybe enough for 2 adults and an infant. You could throw in an anorexic girl as well. I also had a problem with the ingredients. While they did have some great cuts of flank steak, the salmon portions were frozen and the chicken breasts were those big frozen blobs you get in the big plastic bag at Cub Foods! Hello, I'm paying about $20 a "meal" here, how about some fresh ingredients? The recipes were ok. There was marinated flank stead, salmon with pesto sauce, some beef and chicken dishes as well as lasagna (too goopy) and soup. And the point of paying $20 for some soup is......? I have to say the facility was VERY clean and the staff was around answering questions or telling people to go faster since their time was running out. It was nice to have them actually involved. So if you are truly desperate for meals and have a family that isn't picky and doesn't eat much, this wouldn't be a bad fit. But if you are a cheapskate like me with big eaters, this isn't the place for you!
