I actually stopped shopping here because their produce was too ripe and I always ended up throwing away too much. But now that I know how beautiful your place is, I might come back. I did notice you carry the Magnolia Ube ice cream; one of my favorites! Ambiance - Beautiful location. I especially like the surrounding signs with the back light. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 7pm. Plenty of mall parking, well maybe not enough for all these businesses. Service - Good, but mostly self service. Price - Slightly above average, but it also depends on what you buy. I see all the negative reviews but my experience thus far has been completely different. My BF and I have started coming on Sundays because I love (REALLY REALLY LOVE) the pho ga spot in the plaza. It's super convenient for us to park for lunch, and then just walk over to the market afterwards. Most of their fruit is stored neatly in the front, outside of the store. All the produce we have purchased here, both fruit and veggies, have been consistently fresh, clean, and tasty. We like that the most of the veggies inside are prepacked into plastic. I haven't ordered any thing at the meat counter, but my BF has, and he hasn't had any issues with that dept. If anything he's commented that the meat quality is actually really good, and the price point is good. That's coming from someone who shops in the Asian markets in Oakland, so take that how you want. I feel like their snack and instant noodles is kinda weak. If you like baked buns, desserts, pastries and such, they don't really have many options for those either. They do have a really small hot food section but we haven't purchased anything from there to try yet. The freezer stuff is okay if you're looking for a sweet treat, dumplings, etc but they do have a good selection of frozen seafood/meats, even alligator. The cashiers get the lines going quick. One of the items we grabbed was visibly bad, but we didn't notice until the cashier pointed it out to remove from our cart. I feel like that was really great service because she didn't really have to say anything. The layout of the store is weird because as soon as you walk in, you have to walk past a check out line to get to the shopping area of the store. The check out area/lines can get pretty crowded and congested, so not sure why they designed it that way. There is a big parking lot but because it's shared with a few other popular food spots, parking can be a little difficult at times but the spaces are large at least. They don't have the largest selection of items but they do have enough for us to do a weekly haul of our necessary groceries. read more

I went to Foodnet today, I went to the meat dept. to buy 2 lbs. of pork belly & 2 lbs. of pork ribs. The old Asian butcher told me I had to buy the whole slab of pork belly, which was over 3 lbs., & he refused to cut me 2 lbs. so I reluctantly accepted that, then he told me I also had to buy the whole slab of ribs, which was over 5 lbs!! & I only wanted 2 lbs. I got mad & told him to forget the ribs!! I have never went to an Asian market that didn't give me what I wanted, until today. I complained to one of the workers in the store & was told I should've been able to purchase what I needed & she told me to call back tomorrow & report the situation to the owner, since they weren't in the store today. I seriously doubt I will be coming back to this store, because of the bad attitude I received from the meat dept. I hope the owner reads this and correct the situation!! read more

Small to mid sized, asian grocery store located in a shopping plaza on the west side of San Leandro. Parking lot gets surprisingly busy and crowded. Store is tidy, bright, and organized well inside. Selection is moderate for produce and meats. They have a hot food counter for bbq and roasted meats (pork belly, soy chicken, roast duck etc) too. Prices seem reasonable and comparable to other asian grocery stores like New Sang Chong, 99 Ranch etc. Their seafood/fish counter has a nice large numbered menu with listed varieties of how you can have your fish prepared and wrapped for you (i.e. scaled, filet, etc) and they also can deep fry fish here. Was in the area to pick up dim sum next door at DT Dim Sum so it was convenient to grab a few additional items for my Sunday brunch at home. read more

This place is super big and pretty organized. They remodeled the entire inside of the store about 2 years ago. As someone who is predominantly plant based, I have trouble finding certain fruits and vegetables at your regular grocery store. I always come here to get trumpet mushrooms and greens!! Sometimes there are a lot of fruit flies so beware of that. If you are trying to get fresh fish or meats they have a ticket system that is a bit messy so you have get overlooked. This is my goto store for my Chinese groceries such as green veggies, fish and other seafood, ground pork and assorted goods like ramen, and soup mix and assorted Chinese spices, sauces and seasoning. They stopped selling steam table items like steam chicken or roast duck. There are other places for that but it was nice to get it here so hoping they bring that back read more

Really great place to buy your produce and fresh fruit. If you're like me and you consume fresh fruit and veggies daily, come here. They have dedicated areas for veggies, and the fruits are located towards the entrance (past the cashiers). I bought their Papaya here and was super sweet, and also a case of their Mexican mango which was incredibly crazy sweet. I wanted to buy fish, but the line to get it clean was long and the aisles are narrow so I passed but will come on a day that they are not busy. I went through the aisles of sauces as well so they have a large selection. What's really cool too is that they have a large parking lot and right next to them is a dim sum take out. I just took a glimpse but I will have to try them next time I come back. Overall, highly recommend you give Foodnet a try. Cheers! read more

I can only comment on the seafood department. I was looking for live crab for thanksgiving and they had them. I am not sure where they came from as commercial crabbers are on hold in the areas between Monterey Bay and Fort Bragg. Likely north of there. They use manmade saltwater and the crabs were stacked like sardines in the 4 tanks they have. Although they were ok they were well below par of locally caught crab in flavor and texture. Under so much stress it's easy to understand why. I got my fix but will not shop for crab here again. The body meat was flavorless and the leg and claw meat meh. I would say the same for other live seafood they have. Convenient but not the best. read more

Post remodel looks nice, but it looks like they've adopted some sloppy or shady business practices After purchasing several packages of nori, yeast and rice, and leaving the premises, I realized that I was overcharged on the nori by a dollar on each package I told my dad when I got home and he said he doesn't shop at foodnet anymore because I'm the past they charged him 10.99 for a 1.99 pack of crackers, which he also didn't realize until he got home We called my aunt who lives in the neighboring heron Bay and it seems she's been had too when shopping at foodnet. Mislabeling the price of groceries is totally not cool. The quality of their prepared food isn't any good anymore. We love getting the yellow ginger chicken w ginger scallion sauce. However, we received an order that was definitely past due. My experience at this store: The live crab is picked from the aquarium and immediately put in a paper bag and then inserted into another plastic bag. Sale price of crab, therefore, includes weight of 2 watery bags. Whaaattt??? The weight of the soaking wet bags still with water was 0.146 lbs x $14.99/lb = $2.18. I just paid $2.18 for the wet bags!! Ouch!!! That is the cost of a pound of chicken or half a pound of pork or 2 pieces of lettuce. At such an exorbitant price, is it legit for a store to weigh the item including the heavily watered packaging and charge this, too, to their customers? Being asian, I have been to other asian stores in Hayward, Union City, and Newark where the crab is weighed first and then priced, and THEN bagged. I believe this practice done by Foodnet is cheating......... and cheating during these hard times is not good. read more

One Saturday on the way back from SF, we stopped here to get some groceries before going home. It was my first time here, and I have to say I'm kinda a fan of this place. I've never heard of it, but someone introduced this place to my mom so that's how she found out about it. Foodnet Supermarket is an Asian store which is like Ranch 99, but they have some other things which can't be found at Ranch 99 and vice versa. I would have to say that I like both stores because they have similiar but still some different things from each other. While I was there, I got a bag of Lays White Rabbit flavor!? I can't wait to try it! :D I was a fan of White Rabbit candy when I was a kid so I'm pretty excited for that. Ranch 99 will always have a high place in my heart since there's one nearby me, but if I'm passing through San Leandro--I would definitely stop by Foodnet. read more

The place is clean and there is a large selection of Asian groceries. Service is great don't expect the American style of service. They mostly want to get you in and out. Hahaha. The price is pretty comparable with the main Chinese grocery chains.   The meat section offers an extensive range of cuts, including beef, pork, and poultry. The meats are displayed, allowing customers to handpick the perfect cuts for their preferences. The friendly and knowledgeable staff is always on hand to assist. The live fish section has tanks of live fish: tilapia, catfish, back bass, cod, and sturgeon. Fishmongers are available for scaling, cutting, and cleaning the fish. Frying service is also available at no charge.   My favorites are their cut-to-order hotpot meats, live fish with free cleaning and frying services, and easy parking with a large parking lot. In conclusion, this local Chinese supermarket offers a great selection of ethnic food, particularly fresh meat and live seafood. Thought I'd give the supermarket another try since it's been a couple months. I regretted it... because after spending 30 minute shopping in the store and approaching the seafood area... this happened. They have a ticket system to serve customers, but, employees didnt follow it and served who was the loudest of pushiest... then they called me up and I asked for the crab. First thing the employee did was try to grab the shittest crab (which had half its legs broken off). I yelled at him and told him not so fast and asked if I could pick. The guy said no. Its all the same. This got me really irritated where employees can pick and choose which good/bad crab to each particular customer. I want to put it out there that I am a Chinese Born American Male in his 20's. I totally felt I was being taken advantage of when he gave me the worst of the crabs in the bunch. I saw a bunch of good crab on the bottom of the tank and asked for those. The employee said no I couldnt pick those. I asked why, and he said it's all the same. I pointed out a couple of crabs that still had all of its legs and claws. But he said he couldnt get them for me. I asked for a manager. Who came over... and said the same thing. And pointed out the good crab at the bottoms of the tank.....This got me even more frustrated.... as the Manager arbitrary said they would sell me the good crabs at $14.99/lbs. The sign at the tanks clearly marked everything in the tank at $6.99/lbs. What kind of malarkey are they pulling here? Isnt this bait and switch of some sort. Long story short, I went to 88 Manor, got some nice 2lbs crabs with all claws and legs in tack for $7.99/lbs. I shop at alot of grocery stores around the San Leandro/ Hayward area. Food Net is the worst one, second only to Chinatown. I am 100% certain now that they will not have my business ever again. Sorry/ not sorry. read more

I love the fact that they have ACTUAL live Dungeness crab, and l haven't been able to find them ANYWHERE else! Even the pre-cleaned and cooked type that they sell at Safeway, etc., are far too expensive and rather repulsive tasting if you ask me. I also purchased approximately two live lobsters. MOST restaurants are cheating patrons concerning the price/quantity ratio and ordering a "Rock Lobster" tail at "market price," which yields a super small portion for roughly $40+. I, essentially, paid that amount per, for WHOLE live lobsters, got my money's worth as the tails were HUGE (I chose the ones that I preferred from the tank), and was also able to enjoy the meaty claws and legs! read more

Finally my whole family had to spend few days to drink milk every day to finish before the due date. After waiting for them to reopen, I came today and was pleasantly surprised. The store looks more airy now, and is much cleaner. The fish/ seafood area is the best renovation!! It is still work in progress. The deli and take out food area is not open yet. It is still a lot of clutter, shelves to be put together again. Love the new check out areas, with the new credit cards machines. They used to take your cards, now it's the standard machines where you slide in your cards yourselves. I did not have time to look around and check what is new. The parking lot is still a mess though. Huge puddles of rain water!! read more

I went here to buy two crabs for my aunt because they had a good deal of $5.99/lb, which is impeccable. HOWEVER, when I got there around 12, the parking lot was packed and it took about ten minutes to find parking. Once inside, there were so many people crowded around the seafood area. You had to get a number just for the seafood section! My number was 99, and they were only on 43. What really annoyed me was that they didn't control the number of crabs a single person could get. Some people got like 15 crabs, and quite a few others got 8 or so. Most of these people were getting for their friends. By the time it got to 50 something, the two tanks full of crab were gone. I had waited more than 40 minutes. Management should really limit to 2 per person. read more

For example, the Seafood area crowded too where the line is in the same space for other shoppers to get groceries in the coolers bin... no rules & even though they have a "take a number" for the service, but there employee not following the number...& cashier check out there the line not clear with social distancing without someone managing the check-out lanes to wait and separate from other shoppers still shopping. read more

I would give zero stars if I could but this place is utterly trash! Very rude employees and the quality of food and price is ridiculously bad. I saw an expired food that I wanna get there and beware it cost a lot. I told the store worker about this and all of the sudden flips out on me and said "Are you going to buy it or not?" With a really rude tone. I was confused and shocked of why they were giving me an attitude problem when I literally spotted a food that I want to get EXPIRED! So then I just left. Since it is close to our house, this is my San Leandro go-to Asian supermarket. It is in a small plaza which I have love to come and visit once every 2 weeks or so. The place has fresh and cheap produce, seafood and meat [they can deep fry fish for free]. I love that I always see they have fresh oysters, mussels, clams, crabs and live fish in their aquarium everytime I go there. But there are times that they are empty because they were sold out already. I recommend coming here if you also need to get your ingredients needed for a night of at-home hot potting. They'll help you thinly slice your beef to hot-pot perfection while you pick up dodo fishballs. Great idea! I don't see that very often on other Asian supermarkets. Parking space is ample. Also, there are 3 other favorite spots(same plaza) I usually go to after I go groceries here. First, is the mom and pop novelty items store owned by old Chinese couple. I find great stuff here especially I love cooking and they have all kinds of stuff for a reasonable price. Second, is the Dimsum place(D T Dimsum and Tea) which is also a small place but boy they have really good dimsum selections! And third is PHO T & T, a small restaurant yet they offer great-tasting soups, noodles and sandwiches for reasonable prices. So come and try them if you haven't yet! read more

They recently renovated the store for about 1.5 months. So I was anticipating a nicer store....(buzzer)...wrong. Whoever decided on the color scheme needs to do a little research on which colors enhances the shopping experience. When you walk in the place is dark and it doesn't make you feel welcomed. They reconfigured the store so it's a little better in terms of moving around; and they got new checkout counters. They did put in a numbering system for the fish counter. The type you take a number and wait for it to come up. I thought this is good, then there's no pushing and shoving vying for the fish guys attention to help you. (Another loud buzzer). I went in when it wasn't a madhouse weekend and there was only a couple people waiting. There was no tickets in the dispenser and one of the people waiting said he had been waiting 15 minutes just for one of the two guys to acknowledge and help him get a piece of salmon. SERIOUSLY?!!! What kind of service is that?! What's the hiring practice of this place? "Do you hate helping people? Can you ignore people even if they've been waiting for 15-20 minutes for service? And can you be extremely rude in the process?...Yes... You're hired!" It's obvious I will not be going here much or at all. read more

Foodnet is the best and biggest independently owned Asian market I have seen anywhere in the east bay. It is my shopping holy land. I can not speak more highly of food net. If I could award six stars I would ask for seven. I love Foodnet! Get the point yet? Ok then lets get to it. Food net is in my neighborhood at the west end of Lewelling next to some other nice yelp spots like Halan. The place is as big as most supermarkets and has all the goodies of your local market on a much larger scale. I will attest to the fact that they have very nice produce section. I swear that the back wall of the store is filled with a huge selection of meats and live seafood. I can even go on for days about the aisles and aisles, (there really are two ) filled with noodles. In the end I will tell you this... Food net is awesome! There is no place I know where I can get all of the things I need for cooking my partner dinner.
