This was on the way, and our first visit since the conversion! What a difference! Bright, well stocked and specialty sections - night and day from the old A&P market. Love the carts! Two tier with baskets! Prices are a tad higher than Stop n Shop, but the Gluten Free and Organic sections have more choices. Produce was fresh and the layout is well thought out. The meat section lacked any "prime" beef - and a smaller population of grass-fed and organic selections - similar to most supermarkets. Parking still seems difficult. Not their fault that folks can't seem to fit their car into one space! Much improved! read more

The ideal supermarket for slowly dying boomers. Do you like a point system that saves a few measly dollars on extravagantly marked up groceries? Do you prefer NO BASKETS so you have to shop with a large cart or carry your items like a clown? Do you like the convenience of at most TWO registers open at all times? What about only music from 50+ years ago playing, but just the bad stuff? Originally, I was rating 4 stars but after reading the other reviews I now give a 3. Despite everything, there ARE many pros that I've seen over the years: brightly lit store, easy to navigate around isle by isle. Has a good selection of "Grab n Go" deli items etc. Beautiful selection of plants that I can assure will always thrive. Nice Floral Dept. Kudos to their Steam Table, as well. It beats DeCiccio in the selection(has double sided table to walk around and choose)and, yes, it certainly tastes homemade. Great beer choices Drawback, as another Yelper stated, NOT EVER enough registers open at once. Buying a few small items can EASILY become a long story of trying to get out the door! Need to give EACH cashier hand-sanitizer. I've seen some disgusting habits! Hate when they man-handle the self selected bakery items to ring up. not good read more

With numerous improvements, the store has gotten much much better, and has come a long long way! Although I still have reservations about giving them the coveted 5th star rating -- they're closer to achieving it now than they've ever been! I attended the recent grand re-opening ceremony (2/1/17 @ 18:30), and after tasting the many many samples they offered that day - I attempted to approach three different people in suits at their grand opening to offer my feedback, none of whom were interested in listening or willing to lend an ear to a regular shopper who lives right around the corner. Returning the next day (2/2/17 @19:05) I couldn't help but notice now the next day it was back to the the previous "normal* with no perks, samples or non-advertised specials (that I could find), and nothing out of the ordinary. I must say the local in-store management are usually far more receptive than these stooges were at the grand reopening. I really like that they've improved produce section versus what A&P had. They raised the prices someone in this department, but it's worth it because now the produce is actually fresh and still not too ridiculously priced. Their selection of bottled beers is great, especially because of the ability to purchase singles!. I would be happy to expand upon this review, but since they're not interested in listening when all their brass is around, I'm not writing another word at this time. read more

Was the A&P before they went bankrupt. Prices skyrocketed after Foodtown took over. Really like the staff there but they seem under tremendous pressure. This place is located 15 feet away from a human sewage plant and often one can smell in the parking lot. I just got back and saw a rat scurrying from the direction of the sewage plant to the side of the store. Nothing personal against rats, but when one sees one rat in broad daylight there are many more. There are probably some in the store( just a guess.) Perhaps they should lower their outrageous prices considering their location, and also horrible quality of produce. Again, staff for the most part is terrific. They took away staff hours, and many are unhappy. Often not enough cashiers. You can thank the new owners for that. This is place has a Union, apparently not a very good one. Sad. read more

I cannot understand some of the negative comments. I have shopped at this Foodtown when it transitioned from A&P. I am there at least 3 times a week. I find the management really customer centered and always willing to go the extra mile to please. There are items they run out of and Veronica and Heather will order them and have them on hand the next delivery. The hot table and salad bar is a very healthy fare and fresh and tasty. I can go on and on, but suffice it to say this Food Town is par excellence as far as supermarkets go. The owner, Mr. Katz will personally answer every email and personally address every concern. This place is the worst Foodtown I've been to. The deli and management need to get on the same page. I purchased hot food because the deli clerk said after a certain time it's discounted and when I was rung up it was full price. The manager proceeded to tell me its not their problem I was told misinformation by their only employee behind the deli counter. They also don't put chickens out after around 6 because they claim they sell out, but that's just not the case because I've seen them there for hours and nobody buys them because of the cook time on the tag. They give you attitude if you don't just roll over and accept their excuses of a poorly run business. read more

This is the absolute worst supermarket in this town. Everyone that works there is so nasty especially the manger. I have no idea why when there's a large amount of people waiting to be rung up that they have only 2 cashiers open. More often then not when I go there, it is to pick up one or 2 items and it seems to be a half an hour deal just to pay. I kindly ask for someone to ring me up by customer service and I get shut down because they want to be lazy and not do shit. Honestly it's worth to take the 10 min drive to shop rite. read more

I actually like everything about the store EXCEPT poor adherence to MASKS. They have gotten better but the same woman and man from the meat department never have their masks up. Ever. 3rd time in a row no fresh basil. No smaller size spinach ( no bags or smaller just large ) and everything is overpriced and not enough sales. I really wanted to make this my preferred shopping location as it is so close but unfortunately does not meet my every day needs. Very disappointed yet again. Someone recommended this Foodtown to me so I wanted to try it out very clean and nice place I will give them that but their customer service is just bad. I'm a hispanic woman and I felt so unwelcome in this place everywhere I turnes there was a worker just staring.. I would speak and they will act like they didn't understand me like I wasn't speaking English -_- and f You are with someone else they will require everyone's ID if you buy beer? The prices are high in this store, so I only shop here once in a while. I have always been satisfied with my purchases. They have Qorn and Beyond Meat burgers and sausages, also a good selection of gluten-free flour. read more

I enjoy shopping at this grocery store. Their craft beer selection is great! They are ever expanding/adjusting the products they carry, and they truly listen to their customers. The staff is always friendly and courteous. My favorite local place for my regular food shopping trips. read more

We live 3 minutes from this place, and I never went here before (or avoided as much as possible) when it was the old A&P. In comparison... I LOVE Foodtown! They recently renovated with a good sized organic/natural section, and their produce is surprisingly decent quality with good prices. Selection also has greatly improved. Our old favorite grocery store was Fairways when we lived in the NYC. While it's not quite the same, Foodtown carries some of the same brands at Fairways like the local milk, 7 farm yogurt, etc. They also just opened a sushi bar attended by sushi cooks making it fresh - looks pretty decent for Westchester. I really don't think prices are more expensive than A&P. I would say that they have a selection of products with higher and lower priced options, and in general, MUCH better value than A&P, which was crappy and expensive. So happy that we have this grocery store close to us. I also like it much better than any Stop & Shop or Shop Rite I've been to! read more

Today was horrible i enjoy the cashiers and CSRs, they're really kind hearted and sweet people. I'm not from around here, I just moved not too long ago to this area but I occasionally come to this grocery store. I went in just to look around for small things because i'm traveling the next day to visit family and maybe grab a frozen dinner because i did not feel like cooking. I wandered around the store for a minute and then when I couldn't find anything that interested me i started to leave(ended up ordering chinese). I'm not sure who this short dark-skinned man is (the store manager or top flight security of the world) but he followed me as i began to walk towards the door (still browsing and nothing in my cart but my purse). I didn't realize until i got all the way to my car and he walked behind me staring at my vehicle. I never experienced something so disrespectful and ignorant. I wanted to confront him but I left it alone and proceeded to exit the premises normally. I will not be returning back there any longer, even though it's conveniently close to my home id rather drive farther out for equal respect than any other shopper. read more

I really like this super foodtown! We finally have a real supermarket. It's moderate to pricy. It's cheaper than Mrs greens, but more expensive than either shoprite or trader joes. I like the fine selection of organics that are way too expensive in Mrs greens. They have a nice salad selection in the back and their fruit salads are off the hook! I've seen people use their phone numbers when they don't have their discount cards. Looking forward to coffee & muffins there in the mornings when I have to leave early. The place really looks good. I still wonder if they will continue their remodeling of the supermarket to get rid of all A&P traces. read more
