Upstairs was reserved for private party so I didn't really get to check it out but the downstairs area was cute not really big but it was very comfortable for a Friday night. This is tucked away in a very warehouse/industrial part of the city. Apple free parking in a private lot and some street parking. They have a food truck out front. Have a nice event space upstairs. Staff is super friendly. I have some games you can play. The brewhouse is inside the brewery. They sell merchandise, to go beer, and stickers. It was fairly crowded when I was there on a Monday night. The beer was good. read more

Recently visited New Haven to try a variety of pizza joints. After gathering our take-out pizzas, we chose Armada as the place to chow down and have a brew. It's a little off the beaten path, but easy to get to and has a large parking lot directly adjacent to the building. It has two floors -- the downstairs is split between the brewing/canning area and a taproom. The upstairs area is known as the "Queen's Lounge," which is a large space with a square bar in the center that can also be rented out for parties and such. Per the website, it can accommodate up to 120 people! They have 12 different beers on tap and I tried the Mermaid Cove. It's the typical IPA and tasted just as expected. Side note, the inside artwork and merchandise was super cool. I particularly liked the logo which is an upside down hop in the shape of an "A" for Armada. read more

Stopped in Sat. with family after Peabody Museum. FOOD: Ordered a few Zuppardis pizzas that came out quickly and were in the (good) category. There was also a Taco truck outside which we didn't try. SERVICE: Bartender was friendly and answered my beer and food questions with knowledge. AMBIANCE: Run-Down industrial neighborhood with a fenced-in parking lot, and not a very welcoming entrance (door or brick wall could have used some better signage). Inside was nicely decorated with some cool artwork, and a nice 2nd floor that was not opened yet but would be better to hang out in due to the slightly better views. Beer selection was very good with some tasty ones like, Mermaid Cove, Savage Queen and Notorious Gypsy. Couple Issues I had was 1) $5 dart rental, when all other "Games" were free to grab and play, 2) I am a "Beer Passport" holder, and they charged me $9 for my first beer and neither one of the ones that I ordered were $9? 3) have not seen this before, but on my bill there was an applied 7.35% Meals Tax??? on top of CT sales Tax, bumping up my bill total an additional $3.73??? If it has something to do with the already prepared Zuppardis pizzas, ok... but the tax was also applied to my beers as well. perhaps someone can explain? Seems like a lot of "Nickel and Diming". Still would recommend a visit due to their good beers but check and question your bill. read more

Stopped in during a recent trip to the area. This was our third visit over the years, and unfortunately it will be our last -- which is disappointing, because the beer itself has always been solid. The experience went downhill immediately. I asked to taste a beer and was told, "No, we do not do tastes," followed by the beertender muttering, "If you taste it, you buy it." I work at a brewery and have visited the vast majority of breweries in the state, and I have never encountered a place that refuses a simple taste. Since I wasn't allowed to try anything new, I ordered a stout I'd had before. My husband did the same. The posted price for the pour was $7.50, and we had the Passport BOGO. Yet we were charged $9 -- not the listed price. Between that, the abundance of "rules" plastered everywhere, and the beertender's unnecessary comments about some children after they left, it became very clear that hospitality is not a priority here (or at least not priority to the staff that was there that day.) It's a shame, because the beer has always been good. But after this visit, we won't be returning. Best of luck. read more

We decided to come check out Armada Brewery today, Sunday, August 17th around 1 pm. It's located in probably not the best part of New Haven but do NOT let this dissuade you from coming as once you park and get inside, its a hip brewery with a great breeze blowing through it. We were promptly greeted by two very friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. We selected our drinks and decided to stay inside at a picnic style due to the heat today but they have nice picnic tables available outside with umbrellas. Today, they had a great food truck with authentic Mexican cuisine. We tried the asada tacos. Absolutely amazing. Inside you have comfy sofas and picnic style tables to cose from. They have a photo both and board games available to amuse you along with interesting murals on the walls. Excellent selection of craft beers along with limited wine and liquor options. The experience was completely positive and we can't wait to return. read more

On National IPA Day they only had 1 IPA but it was pretty decent. We only stayed for 1 and it was a very comfortable place. Parking was great, bathrooms were clean, beer was good, taproom was interesting and comfortable. Everything here was fine and I will look forward to returning. The food truck packed up and left when we were getting settled so they aren't there the full time they are open (on Sunday) but I think they were there for a while. People who work here seem very nice. If you like fruit and sour beers you'll have some options based on what I saw that day. They seem to cover the basics so I don't think you will be disappointed unless all you drink is light beer. You're probably out of luck if that's the case at just about any brewery. I wouldn't want to make light beer if I was a brewer but a lot of stouts can be lighter than you might realize. I recommend Armada and hope you will give it a try! read more

This is a wonderful brewery in New Haven. Loved the simple warehouse feel of the place. The staff was incredibly friendly and provided good information about the beers and the area (which was helpful given I am from CA). There was no issue with my daughter and I setting up and playing games for a long time. They even have a wall of games if you don't have your own. The food is limited and the chips and salsa we munched on were mediocre, but you don't go for the food. The beer and the ambiance are top notch and that's all that mattered. read more

I was finally brought to this brewery by an event they hosted this past summer. The New England Obscura held a Paranormal Night Market at the brewery. There were a few vendors and performers set up in the lot right next to the building. Very unfortunately, it poured on everyone. Lots of credit to the vendors who covered their precious goods not once, but twice, and stuck around for the people. Not at all throwing shade on those who did have to leave. The weather was brutal and some had very delicate and valuable vintage stuff. Everyone wants that stuff to see another day! Anyway, super cool for the brewery to hold a unique event. Everyone was in sampling the beer and trying to stay warm and dry! Because of the crowds of events they do not do beer flights, but I was around long enough to try a few. I went for a nice fruited sour and an IPA. They had quite a selection to choose from. Good amount of space downstairs with a few couches, tables and some picnic style tables too. Lots of games in the corner for hanging out. Overhead garage doors at the front of the building to open up and let in the nice weather...when it's behaving of course. There is also a bar and space upstairs where they hosted some of the Market performers. The spot is tucked into an odd part of New Haven, but definitely worth seeking out. read more

Had a great visit today. Giving me some Bay Area or Colorado brewery vibes this was a smaller venue but very comfortable. A good variety of brews. Full disclosure I don't drink beer but I do like to go to breweries and have a few sips but also see what other local drinks they have and Armada didn't disappoint. Armada Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in April 2022. It was founded by John Kraszewski. Although a Connecticut native, Kraszewski moved to Chicago, Illinois in 2008 at the age of 21. He originally went to help a friend move there, but he liked the area and decided to move there himself. Kraszewski initially worked in the automotive industry; he had mechanical talent and a "tinkering brain". His interest in craft beer was sparked when he tried the beer "Three Philsophers" by Brewery Ommegang. He started working at a liquor store part time and soon made a friend who worked at Half Acre Beer. Around this time, Kraszewski started taking up home brewing on a kitchen stove top. He eventually got a job working at a home brew shop and worked there for about five years, learning several things along the way. Eventually he got the idea to start his own beer brand. Chicago had a lot of craft breweries, but Connecticut had very few at the time. In 2016, Kraszewski convinced his partner Alexandra to move back to Connecticut (along with their daughter) so he could pursue his dream. He chose the name "Armada" for his brewery after hearing the word in a Coheed and Cambria song; he liked the sound of it and no one had used it for a brewery yet. After asking several times, the owner at Overshores Brewing in East Haven (opened in 2014) allowed Kraszewski to take up space in their production floor as a gypsy brewer in January 2017. After much success, other gypsy brewers began brewing at Overshores and by 2018 the brewery rebranded itself as "The Beeracks": the first brewery collective in the state. It was Kraszewski himself who came up with the name. Some of Armada's early offerings had names like "Cursed King" or "Savage Queen". During the 2018 Craft Brewers Conference, Kraszewski came up with the idea to rebrand and have can artwork that reflected the name of the beers. Each illustration told the story of a character and each can resembled Dungeons & Dragons trading cards. Kraszewski always dreamed of having his very own taproom and that dream became a reality in 2022 when Armada moved into a repurposed Civil War-era factory in the Fair Haven section of New Haven. It was home to the Bigelow Boiler Company for several decades before ceasing operations in 1986. I recently cycled over to Armada's new taproom just a few weeks after they opened to the public. I was met by John Kraszewski who sat down with me for an exclusive interview while we enjoyed some tasty brews. Both he and his staff were some of the friendliest people I've met in the beer industry. After telling me about the brewery's origins, Kraszewski gave me a tour of the beautiful facility. The ground floor is a family friendly/all ages taproom dubbed "The Throne Room" while the second floor is a 21+ lounge area dubbed "The Queen's Lounge" (which can also be rented for private events). I ended up trying samples of all twelve beers that were on tap that day and I was impressed with all of them. I also enjoyed my beer "fleet" with a frozen Zuppardi's sausage pizza that the staff heated up for me in their pizza ovens. I ended up leaving with four-packs of "Mermaid Cove" (IPA) and "The Herbalist" (IPA). I had an exceptional experience at Armada and look forward to returning again and again! read more

Excellent vibe inside. My friend got a flight- which seemed like an awesome way to go. I got the sour beer, which was great! Could taste the passion fruit. There were board games, it was family friendly, and it wasn't too loud- so you could have a good conversation over a beer. Nice addition to the New Haven scene. read more

I for table seats upstairs. visited the oddity event, tried to go at 5pm at the start of the event, parking was a fiasco. I met a super-enthusiastic John today at Overshores (shared space for Armada Brewing at this time) as well as a handful of obvious regulars. I was the newbie. John took me over to the area where a cooler was set-up with 3 spigots. One of the other beers had already kicked (Coffee King IPA) by 5pm, but I got to try to Fortune Raider, which was a solid DIPA. Each 750 bottle they sell is $9, and they want you to know that the big size is purposeful since their beers are made to share with others. I left with a Fortune Raider and Cursed King IPA. I look forward to following this brewery and seeing how it grows! With John's enthusiasm and the awesome taste of Fortune Raider, Armada is on its way to a great start. read more

I'll be honest- Great beer is not hard to come by in New Haven. Armada is a wonderful place for a killer brew. What sets it apart is the environment and the service. When I'd thought I'd lost my wallet, the manager went above and beyond to look at security footage and pinpoint exactly where I'd had it last. Great spot. Neat industrial space, lots of exposed brick. Industrial looking doors on the outside made me unsure I was in the right place, but the brewery is there. we hosted a private party at Armada yesterday. I can not thank the owners enough for how help and accommodating they were.It started when we checked out the private room weeks (maybe months) before. Alex was happy to show us around and give us the details. Then the actual booking of the date was easy and smooth. Communication with Alex and John was always great. They were quick to respond. Day off ... they were so helpful! Assisted with the surprise, setting up etc. I do not drink beer but I gotta say I tried the pink lady and enjoyed it. There was a great beer selection for all. Found a new favorite for my husband. And to my last thing ... the space. We looked at many places and none could compare to this space. It's private, affordable and decorated nicely from the furniture , artwork and beautiful bar. I'm hoping to attend more private parties here and will definitely be attending some of the fun events the brewery puts on. read more
