First and foremost I want to thank the entire staff of Foothill Cardiology. From the second I walked in they made me feel important and very attentive. The front desk was helpful in explaining what they needed from me and what I should expect. Caroline and Melina made me comfortable and explained everything in detail. They were patient and answered all of my questions. I will no longer go to any other facility after this experience, no one has or will be able to match the type of service I received. This is the worst Dr. office I have been to. They rarely answer the phone, calls mostly go to answering service won't let you leave a message. When they do and request a message, its never given to the right physician. They have consistently missed or cancelled appointments both live or via the telephone. Dr's rarely are available. My recommendation is to go someplace else for quality medical care because you sure won't get it here. read more

Honestly, I was done with Foothill Cardiology until I disregarded their advice and chose a new cardiologist. The staff are all very kind and professional but the doctors? Not so much. Then I switched to Dr. Leo Unger and I'm supremely happy with that choice. He listens, recommends appropriate tests, explains results and follows up with patients. If you have concerns about your heart this is not the place. I saw Dr. Durairaj on March 2023 and he ordered a series of test that was prescheduled and spread out until I get to see him again on July 28, 2023. Through the entire process there were a lot of miss communications and unpleasant/ unprofessional responses on my test results. This causes a delay on my hernia surgery because I could not get clearance. The last draw was they cancelled my July 28th appointment 2 days before. After receiving an automated call to confirm my appointment on July 26th, an hour later someone call me that we have to reschedule the July 28th appointment. I told them I can't because I already made arrangements to be off that day and will need ample time notice for a reschedule. She said "You didn't get the mail", I'm like what mail. She confirms my address and she said that there was a mail sent out informing me of the cancellation. I told here I have to call back for the reschedule dates as I need time to make another arrangement. I finally received the mail she was talking about on the 28th, the letter head was dated July 14th but the envelope Post Office date time stamp was July 21st. I finally got the chance to call back for my reschedule date but they told me the Doctor could not see me until Next Year, . I have to file a complaint to my insurance because it didn't take me anywhere talking to anybody there and even the administrator did not call me back after leaving messages. Really stay away or you will just add stress to your heart. My insurance and copays sum up to thousands of dollars and to be treated like this is unacceptable. I was trying to find out if there is any government agency that oversees such business practice specially for a medical group because they really need serious scrutiny and oversight. read more

My appointment was on July 7, 2023. When I checked in at the front desk receptionist gave her my insurance card. I had ask her how much my copay. She should already know what's copay for office visit for the specialist at Foothill Cardiology Medical Group. It seem like she didn't thoroughly look at my account while she was on her computer. She gave me the wrong copay it's not $15.00. I gave her $15.00. She gave me a printed encounter invoice after my account with my Cardiologist Dr Kumar. The invoice doesn't show any unpaid balance owe. So why did I recently received a bill statement by mail and printed it say my office copay is $30.00 not $15.00? Today I've contacted their billing .dept spoken to a young lady she tell me when the front desk contact the insurance company it's based on what the insurance company quote them. I've contacted my health insurance member service and the member service rep that's lie. My copay has always been $30.00 for office visit to see a specialist. Foothill Cardiology Medical Group your front desk receptionist she's unprofessional, disorganized. Next month when I check-in at the front desk receptionist. I'll pay the correct copay $30,00 in full instead of $15.00 My Dr. Kumar she's excellent cardiologist. I'm upset with one of the front office receptionist desk. Called to make an appt. and it's for a month later. Geez... Can or should patients with heart problems wait this long for an appt.? The lady who scheduled my appt. didn't tell me there is a location in Arcadia, which is a lot closer to my home (4 miles). They wanted me to drive to Pasadena, which is 10 miles from my home. The drive time would triple in traffic, not to mention the inconvenience of parking in Pasadena. Should they be more considerate when scheduling for patients with heart problems? I found the Arcadia office while looking on Google for the Pasadena address, so I called to move my appt. to Arcadia. That delayed my appt. more. My cardiologist is Dr. Alex Durairaj. I have nothing but fantastic things to say about him and the medical center he works in. I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes, never felt rushed out, and never left feeling confused about any information that had been explained to me. Ive gotten phone calls from Alex later in the evening when i thought for sure they would be closed to go over the results of tests I had done. This is not the First cardiologist that I have seen either, but it will be the last. Not trying to discredit any of the complaints by others, but i have not experienced or witnessed anything they have complained about. - The facility is fantastic - The staff is extremely friendly and helpful - Located right in the heart of Pasadena with plenty of places to eat before or after :) - Since its a cardiology center they have more amenities than a private practice read more

The group is comprised of super down-to-earth, friendly, ridiculously smart docs who are just great at what they do. Great team of NPs too. I'd refer my own family/friends. I had been to this facility got heart test done before, but recently when I tried to make an appointment, the staff was very rude, not just put me on hold several times, but hang up on me when she got back and before I had a chance to answer. Called them back and I could hear the same person's voice with impatience and put me on hold right away. Are this place way under staff? The person answered seemed to be under stress or overwhelmed by other tasks! The bottom line is, after spent 20 minutes I still couldn't get my appointment done, so I gave up. The worst!! Needed to make an appointment to get clearance for hernia repair. A blip showed up on my pre-op EKG. I have heart arrhythmia so it showed an irregular heartbeat. My surgeon wanted a cardiologist to give me clearance. The blip is my standard. There is no indication of cardio-pulmonary disease but ok, better safe than sorry. I also tested positive for Covid. I isolated for 8 days! No symptoms. Made an appointment with Dr Rao. Jamie then called and said because of the Covid test they would have to do Telehealth. That made no sense, but ok, better safe than sorry. Today was the appointment. Jamie called this morning and said Dr Rao needed to see me in person and I needed a negative Covid test. I said ok and she said any kind would do, including at-home. Got the test---negative--and Jamie said that's all the needed and bring it in. So I did. I showed it to the totally rude woman at front desk who told me to wait by the elevators. I told her I needed to sit due to my arthritis. After 10 minutes still no communication. I went to the desk and rude awful said they wouldn't see me because at-home test not reliable. I isolated for 8 days and had no symptoms. She simply said too bad. I got very upset and asked to speak to Jamie who had told me to come in. She refused. I got more upset and was told to leave or they would call security. I called Jamie when I left. I asked her why she told me to come in and she hung up on me. I never make a scene. But one person told me one thing and another told me another and it was very frustrating. I won't be going back. There's plenty of cardiologists out there. Awful treatment. I did everything they asked and told me something else. No way to treat. 70 year old new patient. read more

I had a Stress Test on my heart with the use of radioactive chemicals. It was the worst experience of my life. The Nurse Practitioner in charge made fun of me because I was over weight, and did not listen to me when I told her I was in distress. It took my blood pressure falling to 80/40 and me starting to pass out before she did anything. read more

I am very pleased with Foothill Cardiology in Arcadia. Dr Sergio Blesa is the best. I know he has a lot of patients when I was there,but I never felt he was in a rush. He took time to listen to my aches and pain. From the receptionist , the nurse, until I got to the appointment lady...I felt that warm welcome and care. After a couple of days, I got a call about my test results ..it was good news.That means a lot to a senior person like me. Doctor A. Duraijai is a very good cardiologist doctor but his staff , especially BRENDA is so rude and not good and trying to act as if she was my doctor . And she's the one who's going to destroy the office of doctor Duraijai. And also the district manager by the name of John Gonzalez told me that he was going to send me a letter stating that I cannot see the doctor anymore but no letter was sent . John Gonzalez was not treating me fairy and he did not even investigate the situation . I am now going to a different doctor who is very very good . And I also ask for my records and the previous doctors never sent it to my new doctor . I had a very positive visit. I'm new to the area and establishing relationships with new doctors. Location is easy,parking is easy and close to the office,nice,clean premises,very friendly reception and I didn't have to wait long,nor was I there long,very thorough and efficient. Every one I encountered was quite friendly. With the medical field in turmoil right now, I was surprised how good the experience was. I find if I lighten up and chill,not go in with a bad attitude that it works out alright. When stuff does not show care and concern about the patient , lying about appointment waiting time, just to get you in and start processing ( because that how they make money ). When medical provider office becoming a business office first and physician's office second- you need to start running from that type of medical care. This happened to me over a year ago, but I didn't feel comfortable sharing it on Yelp at the time, even after my complaints and calls to Foothill Cardiology - as well as my personal physician's - were not taken very seriously at all. However, in light of recent events in the news, I feel I must share: If you are a woman, for your own safety and comfort, I would avoid going to Foothill Cardiology at all costs. If you have an HMO and no other choice, please heed this WARNING - ASK FOR A FEMALE TECHNICIAN IF YOU ARE GETTING A STRESS TEST AND/OR AN ULTRASOUND. I am fairly young and in good health, but after a couple of routine ECGs showed abnormal results, my personal physician recommended I see a cardiologist. She didn't think there was a problem with my heart, but she thought it would give me peace of mind to have a cardiologist check it out anyway. She referred me to Dr. Rao at Foothill Cardiology. After my initial consultation with Dr. Rao, I set up an appointment to return for a stress test and an ultra sound. Scheduling was a surprisingly formal procedure, given that no private or sensitive information was discussed: I waited to sit down with a staff member at a private desk - but they simply set an appointment just as they would at any front desk without the added privacy. The only important piece of information I was told at that time was to "wear 2-piece loose clothing". That was it. No explanation why and no informative paperwork, pamphlets, or disclosures were given to me. I wasn't told, "you will have to disrobe from the waist up and the bare skin on your torso will be wiped down throughly before the procedure." You would think, given the potential for violation of privacy, that a woman would automatically get a female technician - or at the very least, be given a choice when setting up the appointment. To make a long, VERY uncomfortable story short, on the day of the procedure, I was told by a MALE technician to disrobe from the waist up and put on a paper robe. When he came back into the room, by himself, he proceeded to: touch me inappropriately, make unprofessional comments such as "You're in good shape. Do you work out?", move my hand out of the way when I tried to protect myself so he could continue (for a ridiculously long time), aggressively position me by grabbing my whole body (NEVER asking my permission or explaining beforehand) - all the while completely aware that he was making me uncomfortable. I said "No one told me what to expect. This is not okay." His response was "Yeah, they should've told you." It didn't stop his behavior in any way. When a female tech finally did come into the room to run the treadmill, he wouldn't leave, so I couldn't tell her what was happening - I was inexplicably too afraid to say anything in front of him. She asked me if I was okay and I said "no" but she didn't stop the procedure or ask me what was wrong. When she left, he FINALLY stopped touching me and said, "Next time, you should ask for a female technician." Really??? Thanks for letting me know AFTER the fact! I was shaking - and kicking myself for not doing more. I had felt paralyzed in a vulnerable and entirely unfamiliar situation, having a procedure done that I didn't want to compromise. Since I wasn't told what to expect, I didn't know what to do in the moment. I thought afterward, "I should've done this, could've done that..." It's a terrible feeling - and, unfortunately, not at all uncommon. I did complain immediately afterward to the young woman at the front desk. She seemed appropriately concerned and said she would tell the office manager. I went home - no one called. This was on Oct. 13, 2016. The next day, I called and left my own message for the office manager. Again, no response. I then emailed my personal physician and gave her a detailed account of my experience and she was horrified. She called them TWICE, leaving word with the doctor directly. Still, no one called me. Finally, my doctor called them a 3rd time and in the 2nd week of November - over 3 weeks later - an office rep called me. The woman I spoke to acted as if it was no big deal. She said I was supposed to be given a choice of female or male tech when I made the appointment, so they would remind their staff. That was it. "Anything else?" She didn't apologize or say anything about the male technician who had behaved so unprofessionally and inappropriately. He should've been fired immediately, at the very LEAST. If he was, I should've been informed. Not surprisingly, I never went back for my followup. My healthcare was compromised after all. I pushed it out of my mind for a year and then, when the MeToo movement happened, I remembered. The health care business shouldn't be exempt. The only thing I can do is share it and hopefully, prevent it from happening to someone else - or perhaps encourage others who have experienced the same to share their story... read more

Dr. Roth has been my cardiologist for almost 25 years and over that time he has provided me with compassionate and knowledgeable insight. My medical issues were complicated and involved. Dr. Roth has always been receptive and available to my many inquiries and questions. There's much I am grateful for and I truly believe if it wasn't for Dr. Roth's interventions I'd probably not have made it. read more

My wife scheduled an Echo cardiogram a month in advance so we could make several appointments in one day as it is a 130 mile drive for us. Foothill cardiology waited till 3 business days before the procedure to request pre-authorization from my insurance company even though they knew it takes a week to get it. (this happened one time before and it took hours on the phone to get an emergency authorization) They then had the gall to call the day before the appointment and say that since they can't get authorization she had to reschedule. Due to her chemo, my wife cannot be taking additional road trips. When I told the woman (Jamie) that that would not work her response was that we could sign a waiver saying we would take total financial responsibility and then they would do the test. I guess we will have to ask her doctor for a referral somewhere else. read more

As a business, Foothill Cardiology is tops. Doctors are excellent. I have had several experiences here. My first experience was terrific. I agree these tests are very expensive. But, here again the technology is expensive. My last experience was not as pleasant. A technologist thoughtlessly ripped electrodes from my body taking my skin with them. I will have red marks on my skin for weeks. Techs are supposed to use petroleum jelly to remove electrodes. Always request they slowly remove them. You can also report to management your dissatisfaction regarding your treatment. You can also write to the Medical Association of California as well as The National Medical association. My fear is that very ill patients and the elderly will be afraid to report for fear they will be denied proper medical treatment. I really should just give them a zero rating but, there aren't many choices for exceptional Cardiology evaluations in Pasadena. read more

I really believe that Dr. Luu saved my life. I had Peripartum Cardiomyopathy, a rare form of heart failure due to pregnancy. When I went in to the Emergency room for shortness of breath days after giving birth, I wasn't doing well. Some of the doctors at Huntington were talking to me about a heart transplant which was scary! I was a new mom and couldn't believe this was happening to me. The first time I met Dr. Luu, he saw me at my worst. My heart was only working at 10% and he looked me in the eye and told me I'd get better. He was so positive with me and really gave me hope for recovery compared to some of the other doctors' opinions. His words kept me strong. I believed I would get better and be there for my baby boy because he gave me hope! I'm making a remarkable recovery because of him! No transplant needed, thank goodness! Under his care, I've only gotten better and better. I hope to be fully recovered soon. I owe my life to this man, seriously! Best cardiologist out there! He does run extremely on time so be there on time, Don't be late. You're in good care with him. read more
