Initially, we wanted to go to Louise's Kitchen for breakfast. However, upon discovering they had a line out the door at nine o'clock on a Monday morning, we said, "Fuck that." Therefore, we went next door to Foothills Butcher Bar, which was a great decision as I enjoyed their breakfast and clean ambiance. We had stayed in Black Mountain that weekend, and I wanted to go to one more restaurant spot before driving back onto the highway. Being in downtown Black Mountain, there are more than a couple of places to enjoy breakfast, and Foothills is a solid casual one. Additionally, and more known to locals, they offer butcher specials daily consisting of various meats and other goodies. For our purposes, I went for the fried bologna sandwich on a biscuit with egg and cheese that tasted like happiness. I had never ordered such a sandwich before -- at least bologna fried, and I savored every bite. Being a baconist, I included a side of bacon with my order, which tantalized my tongue as well. We drank coffee and water with our meals, and I thought about the joys of our journey that weekend. Sad, we would be leaving, but happy we found Foothills to send us off. If you live locally in the area or passing through traveling or stopping for vacation, this place meets the bill for grub that won't let you down. read more

We just had the most beautiful drive to Asheville and we were looking for somewhere outside and safe to eat. So we drove around the town of Black Mountain and found this charming little sort of deli restaurant with take out only, attached to a butcher shop. I think they do barbecue too on some nights. There were masks and hand sanitizer outside before you walked in. Dave ordered the Rueben with fries and an IPA. I had the little Cheeseburger with a side salad. Both were ample and fresh made and brought to us outside, where were seated on a covered patio. The place is extremely clean and everything is wiped down. We learned from our campground host that many businesses have closed extra days because they cannot get help. That is why the hours are sometimes incorrect in the Yelp App and it is always good to call before you come! We love supporting local businesses wherever we may travel! read more

The two of us came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and split a special which was essentially a breakfast hash bowl with potatoes, sauteed onions and peppers, beef, gravy, and two eggs cooked any style. We also split the Butcher's Biscuit (choice of bacon, country-fried steak, chorizo or breakfast sausage, a fried egg, and melted cheese) which was only $6. This place was a nice find. I love a good greasy burger and I got a delish one. They also had really good French fries. The reason for 4 stars is it cost too much. The regular cheeseburgers, with fries and one coke. Is all we got. After tax and tip it was $30. Burger was on the small side even though it was delicious. They close at 7 for dinner so my mom and I got there around 6 to find outside seating only and awesome safety precautions being taken. I ordered the Poutine Fries which were incredible with a Gingers Revenge Blue Basil to drink which was so refreshing paired with my loaded fries. This review is a long time coming. Food is high quality. The specials are very very good (especially the Cuban). Burgers and hot dogs are all made in house and do not disappoint. So somehow on our many visits to Black Mountain we have completely missed Foothills and what a mistake that was. We were looking for somewhere to eat breakfast and so we thought we'd give it a shot. Wow, all I can say is they somehow served us the best burger AND best hotdog ever. My husband was so curious as to how they got the burger so juicy and how he could replicate it haha! Our toddler got an order of bacon and a side of sausage and both were delicious. Clearly they know their meat. Someone else ordered a hotdog and when it went by we both decided to add one on to our order. We got the Carolina style and it was absolutely delicious. And I'm not usually a hotdog person. We also enjoyed the $5 bloody Mary's which were a bit spicy and very flavorful. All in all we won't be passing over foothills ever again, it will now be in our rotation of excellent breakfast/brunch spots when passing through Black Mountain. Keep up the good work!! read more

We called ahead to make sure we could bring a dog since I was dog sitting, they said we could as long as it was on a leash, perfect! So we have been to the WA location many times and this was the first time in this area in a while so we decided to check them out. This location is a lot bigger and has way more seating outside including some picnic tables, which we happily sat at on this beautiful summer day. The server brought us a bottle of water and two cups and a bowl for our pup. (very kind). I ordered the lil cheeseburger because it is full of sunshine, rainbows, and the American dream. He ordered the reuben. Both had a bottle of root beer. The cheeseburger was perfect and the exact rendition of the other location which made me super happy. Consistency is KEY. I have been here twice with my boyfriend's sister. I don't usually eat a lot of meat but sometimes I have some cravings. I had the hamburger the first time and the hot dog the second time. They were both very good. The fries were great. It is not clean, non-greasy eating, it is a burger and fries. So you expect it has some grease. Sat at the bar, grabbed a rosé and checked out the menu. I couldn't make my mind up if I wanted a burger, Cubano or a hot dog. Bartender said, "hot dogs are made in house weekly."
