The spot for you to unwind with a beer, watch a little football, or catch live music is at Black Mountain Kitchen & Ale House! Beyond the local and regional beers, the food is outstanding like their tender, crispy, and juicy fried chicken sandwich enveloped in creamy mayo and crunchy pickles. They also have a selection of burgers and appetizers like the tender and delicious chicken wings, as well as sides like crunchy tots. We watched Tennessee beat Alabama here and listened to a singer song-writer after. They also have a great selection of Black Mountain Brewery and other local brews from around the region. My favorite was the IFFY Pumpkin Ale from Hillman Old Fort. Plus, we stumbled upon their Oktoberfest so we got to enjoy live Polka band and stein holding competition! It was a nailbiter.

What a fantastic place to unwind. Phillip- with two Ls- the bartender made great food recommendations- Tripper Harrison Detroit style pizza and Southern Delight Tavern pizza. When you can't pick one, get both! The giardiniera (marinated veggies) on the Southern Delight are worth the price of admission! The Tripper Harrison- light and fluffy crust with crusty edges that you'll be stealing nibbles of all night. Great beer selection. But truly the service was the crown jewel. Run don't walk- or do like we did eat, go take a nap and return for evening music!

If you want a fried chicken sandwich that's juicy and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, this is the place. Six of us sat outside to enjoy the fall weather while having lunch. We had shopped around for a bit enjoying this charming little town. Service was a little on the slow side but the food was great. Three of us had the chicken sandwich. The chicken is brined, giving making the meat tender. We had fries and tater tots as sides. One friend order 1/2 chicken. It looked beautiful with its golden brown breading. If I were living in the area, I'd frequent this place.

Our last night in Western North Carolina (and Black Mountain where we were staying) found us going to Black Mountain Ale House. Having been told about this spot from the beertenders over at Black Mountain Brewing at the start of our adventurous weekend getaway, we decided we would pay a visit and dine on some of their fare. The interior, which you can access either via a set of stairs going downward from the street level or the patio from the back entrance -- like most of Black Mountain, this is built on slopes and hills... or like most of Western North Carolina for that matter, is very sports bar-like but filled with friendly locals who enjoy a good local brew while watching football, baseball, or whatever local band is performing at a given time. We grabbed stools at the bar where I could bounce my eyes between screens behind the counter and across the room to the adjacent wall in keeping track of Sunday NFL scores, as we took our order. Being that I had my fill of local craft beer for a month that weekend by the time we made our way to the Ale House, I had water but ordered dry rub wings and a burger with pimento cheese, bacon, and carmelized onions. Again, like I had two days earlier at The Trailhead, I made the mistake of ordering too much, but didn't care. The wings were solid while the burger was tasty. Of course, any burger with bacon and pimento cheese is going to be tasty but I digress. Overall, you can't go wrong with Black Mountain Ale House. The bartenders are friendly and quick to accommodate. The kitchen is quick to correct an order -- they forgot my girlfriend is Celiac and had ordered a gluten-free bun, but made sure she didn't go long without a replacement. I felt bad about leaving a couple of wings in the basket, but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Make no mistake, I liked the crispiness of the skin on the wings. Good spot to go with friends for some beers and bar food on any given night.

My wife popped in here around 6pm on a Friday craving a casual environment and some bar food - this place hit the mark. The service was excellent and the food was even better. We had the Smokehouse Burger and Loaded Tater tots. The burger was smash style with grilled onions, delicious cheese and pickles. But be warned that it doesn't come with fries. The tater tots came with a great dill sauce- they were fantastic. The bar itself it really great. It's fairly large but feels small at the same time. There's a stage and it's clearly a hot spot for live music. We are looking forward to returning!

We decided to come to Black Mountain Ale House for some food after a long day of hiking. To be honest, my hunger might have skewed my rating, but I was overall really pleased with all of the food that we got! Service was also good and portions were big. We got the Honey Sriracha Ale House Wings - yum!! It's a small plate for $10 but that glaze is worth every penny. We also got a steak with green beans and potato salad dish and a fettuccine dish. Both were good and really filling. Note: Their online menu is not up to date! But I forgot to take a picture of the actual menu.

One of the best pizzas I've had. We got just traditional pepperoni and it was fantastic. The garlic and flavor of the bread and the sauce are amazing. Cool place with nice bar. Service was great.

Great place in Black mountain. Very pretty inside with a great atmosphere. I had no food here. We just had some beer. We sampled a few different types. It's a fun and lively place that I wish I could have spent more time at. It was my first time in Black mountain and I fell in love with this adorable little town. I hope to visit again and if I do I will stop in here again as it is a really fun place.

    Patio and beer! Perfect!

Spring greens, sweet onion, shaved fennel, gourmet tomatoes, pepitas (pumpkin seeds), Craisins and lots of fresh herbs with an amazing house-made vinaigrette dressing. Impressive. At the time we didn't realize that Roberta Flack was born in Black Mountain and the mural on the side of the historic building was in fact Roberta! When you step inside it is cozy and comfortable but we could see there was a large outdoor space as well. I stopped in at the counter and decided to order a pint of their Hazy IPA. We wandered to the outdoor space which is two levels, we explored the upstairs area first since there was a thunderstorm we thought it would be cool to watch the rain and lightning while sipping on a cold beer. We also learned there was a food trailer at the back of the property, which looks to be a permanent resident. They offer items such as pulled pork, poutine, brisket, and more. We ended up chatting with other customers and had a really enjoyable afternoon. We enjoyed our time at Black Mountain Brewing and will absolutely be back!

The first cool thing about this brewery is that it taught me that Roberta was from NC, which I did not know. So, we decided to go and immediately it took be back to the golden era of small breweries. I loved the atmosphere here, again it took me back to when craft beer was a community, and not an industry as it is today. I had a flight with the steam beer, pale ale, West Coast IPA, and barleywine. Everything was on point and very well made. My friend had the American Lager and we also tried the Czech-style lager, which ended up being my favorite. A huge plus and thank you to our bartender who brought us delicious, in-house freshly-made pork rinds! If I lived in the area, this would be my Cheers.
