I'm having a hard time deciding how to rate this Campground, but I'm going to be as honest as I can be!
Firstly- the owners are wonderful. Very kind, very accommodating, I really liked them. That's the most important part of a review for me so on that scale? 10/10.
However, here are some of the things we encountered that I think are worth noting! First, we booked online, and the site we booked was written online as being water and electric, which we figured out by simple guess that it was not. We checked before arriving, and because of the mixup they comped us a water electric site for no added cost AND were diligent in correcting the listing. It's 100% correct now, so nobody will ever have to worry about that again.
We stayed at site 6, and when we got there, coincidentally, the electric hook up wasn't working. They almost immediately came and gave us an adapter (and a hose for the water which was a unique bonus) and we were smooth sailing!
The site was big, but had multiple trees in the middle of it, which made it tricky to navigate our huge tent. We managed, and I'm sure there are rules they have to follow with environmental NH that means they cannot remove them, but it would've helped a lot if they were trimmed more. As well, the fire pit was located in the dead center of the site, which added another difficulty to how we arranged our tent and picnic table. I wouldn't suggest this particular site for any kind of trailer or camper. There was a little added space next to it to park our truck on though which really helped us a lot.
As well, this campground is right off a main road, and the part of it that we were on was right next to the road, so we had a lot of road noise, day and night. We live on a main road in our real life so we're used to it, but we tend to prefer a bit more quiet when we camp. Still, not at all a dealbreaker!
There seems to be a lot of seasonals here, which is both good and bad! For us, it worked out because it was super quiet, but it also means that there aren't a ton of available sites.
Major pros: there's a cute little dog park if you bring your dog (we don't) but it was a very nice added touch that I don't often see, the pool was easily accessible and big enough to let the kids swim, the playground was new and cute, and they have three little boats available for free for guest use on the little pond, including access to life jackets and oars, and our kids had an absolute blast paddling around on them for no added cost!!!! The store is small, but the firewood is reasonably priced! The bathrooms were a reasonable distance away from our site, and always very very clean. It's located about 40 mins from Storyland, 30 mins from North Conway, and worked perfectly for us as a home base to explore the area.
It rained a lot during our weekend, and there were a lot of puddles across camp, which can't always be avoided, but I think would be something to look into. As well, some of the sites are much smaller than others, so I highly suggest calling to book instead of booking online to be sure you have the size site you need for your party.
All in all, I would absolutely consider trying this campground again, especially if we have plans to do things in the near surrounding area. I admit, I went into it a little negative after the booking issue, but it turned around quite well. I hope that they're able to repair their rec hall (the deck has fallen in and is currently in disrepair) because I think that would be a huge plus for them! read more
