Great Campground with a newly renovated pool for 2023. Good size spacious sites. Nice beaches on Danforth Bay. Golf cart rentals are high price. And hard to get. Wi-Fi is somewhat slow but workable. While the place is decent, it's not worth the price anymore. For 2021 safari field site was $58/night for peak/holiday, for 2022 rebook it's $105 and they are charging for any children more than 2 at $10/night. I don't see any amenity at the campground being worth these rates, there are plenty of other campgrounds nearby in Chocorua and Ossipee which are far less than Danforth Bay's 2022 rates, and with more overall amenities. For the increased rates I would expect the following from them 1) WiFi that actually works - Heck put an access point at EVERY site 2) 50 amp electric at every sites 3) Sewer at every site 4) Trash pickup at every site 5) HD Cable throughout - the cable in place right now is analog only and poor quality at that. 6) Stone/Gravel or concrete pads at every site read more

My last New England campground review before heading south back to Fla -- this has a pro con list -- the pro out weighs the con but the con was upsetting and i blame the campground staff for not having control over the situation -- not sure this occurs yearly but this week Sept 14-15 2019 was firefighters appreciation weekend -- now i am all for families getting together to celebrate and have a good time however the campground has over 300 sites so to pick the party spot next to someone who is paying to enjoy the peacefulness of their surroundings and the forest was just selfish and rude-- they could have partied down by the lake or rented the activities hall but to play corn hole under our slide out window for hours and blast music and karaoke next to our window until 10 -11 at nite was just beyond rude -sites E32 and E34 were the major culprits and i blame the staff who gave security the night off or were just told to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the partying -- this event was not managed properly -- kids with dogs in the pool area - not allowed normally but for some reason the rules for the firefighters seemed not to apply over the weekend and the partiers were rewarded with late checkout the next day for their insensitive behavior-- That said we stayed here for 13 days and i love the campground has 2 heated pools, rental cabins , well stocked general store tennis courts, playground for kids hiking trails , beach, lake, kayak rentals Nice shower facilities we saw being cleaned daily, golf cart rentals and just large spread out wooded area -- there is a dog park which we actually never made it to because our girls loved taking walks just around the campground -- i would stay here again and hope to in the future but if you also choose to stay here don't hesitate to speak up if you get 20-30 drunks partying loudly next to your site-- we did not complain but we believe one of the seasonal park models directly behind may have had enough because the music abruptly stopped at 10 PM the second night the first night it went on well until after 11:30 pm -- again it is an awesome campground and i hope they read this review and realize while they tried to do a nice thing staff needs to be considerate of other paying customers and residents here that don't appreciate that loud disorderly drunken behavior -- i give this review a would come again rating but check the calendar when booking for party groups during your stay read more

Nice place. Very accommodating. We hear they are switching owners. Lots of places for sale!! Funky rules. Way too many "42 things you should know!" Yikes. I had some adult children with me and felt uncomfortable at the above 50 swim pool. They just glared and stared at us... weird Golf carts are a must to get into Bluffs. Beautiful campground. We stayed in our travel trailer on site c12 which was near the stairs to one of the beaches. The water was clean and clear. We sunbathed for hours on the floating dock and rented paddle boards for $10/hr. Thanks for the great weekend, we will be back. read more

Have been going to Danforth Bay for several years now. This is the 3rd (and last year) showing up and finding out the lake for swimming and kayaking is "swim at your own risk" due to blue/green algae. Why wouldn't we be notified by management prior to checking in? No discounted rates. Normal hours for the pool area is until 9PM, however, it closed every evening at 7PM. Wouldn't you think you would keep open given the circumstances? No connectivity to the internet this year. Not sure what happened there. Food truck gone this year. All but 2 bath houses closed on entire site. If you write a review about them on FB, they go in and delete them. Use to enjoy the camp site but will never go back again. read more

Very nice, but falling behind other campgrounds. The WiFi is terrible and they don't have enough boats to rent to cover demand. Most activities were cancelled when we were there. New fees with less return is not a good direction. Also, could smell septic most of the week due to work they did on their dump station even though we are pretty far from it. It's sad that I have to write a one star review of a place that my wife's family has been coming here for over sixteen years. Attached are photos of two mice that were caught in my mother in laws cabin after alerting the front desk of a mouse that was found eating their food. The front desk only offered an apology of the rodent population being heavier than usual and not an apology that there were mice found in the cabin. After being alerted, the front desk took two hours to put traps in. Two mice were caught in the span of a day. Sadly the front desk closed at 7PM when the second mouse was caught. While checking out, the front desk offered no apology to the fact that mice were in the cabin and offered no solution other than putting traps. Its fine that traps were set but there was no care in the world. It's sad because this place is awesome but the problem was not fixed and the reaction of the front desk seemed that they were not surprised over the mice "epidemic" read more

Stayed for one week in our 29' trailer. Our site was large; however, it wasn't level with the road making backing it in very challenging. In fact, there was such a slope that we had to dig some of the ground so that our stabilizer jacks wouldn't hit as we backed it in! When making our reservation, the office staff knew how big our camper was and I am very, very surprised that they booked us in that particular site. A few inconveniences: 1. The bathrooms were clean, but only had a single stall and often had a line. Since we have a family of four, we rely on using both our camper bathroom and the campground bathroom - so having only a single stall with a line to use it was frustrating. 2. There were only two dumpster locations for the entire campground and both required us to drive our trash in the truck to get there. 3. Because the campground is so big and hilly, people use golf carts to get around. They are loud and annoying. Security also uses golf carts to "patrol" the campground and passed by our site very often. Because this campground had a security gate to get in, the constant security driving seemed redundant. 4. The layout of the campground prevented us from riding our bikes from place to place because our four year old wouldn't be able to make it up many of the hills. 5. Security didn't seem to want to offer help. As a neighbor camper was trying to back into his site, two security staff had been sitting and talking in their golf carts nearby. Instead of offering to help when it was clearly needed, they drove away. We were in the middle of supper, but stopped eating to help him out. 6. The office and store staff were not at all polite or welcoming. When we checked in, we were handed a big packet with a "here you go" and sent on our way. No direction, no welcome, no anything that even resembled a "we're glad you're here" Seemed annoyed by any question that we asked them throughout the week and generally didn't seem happy to be there. Redeemable qualities: 1. The beach was beautifully kept, the water was clean and we had a great time swimming! 2. The lake really is great for canoeing and water sports. 3. Took the kids on a few hikes right next to the campground and we enjoyed it. Overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again for a whole week. Even though the water was beautiful, the annoyances didn't make our stay as relaxing as we hoped. Definitely disappointed. read more

Looks like a great place. Went to book a site for my family, all of which are adults, and when I told them 5 adults I was told I needed the GM's approval because you can only have 4 adults and 4 kids per site. The GM would not give approval and said we would have to get an overflow site. I don't understand the logic. You can have 8 people per site but you can't have just 5 adults. We are a quiet family looking to have a vacation together. We have no little kids traveling with us. Kids do grow up to be adults! Anyway, we will be spending our money somewhere else that allows a family of 5 adults on one site. read more

Nice beaches, clean rest rooms and large camp sites. Great for kids. Be sure to reserve a site off Main Street as the golf cart traffic (and dust) is significant. We lost power three times during our week due to the load on the grid...so stock up on propane if staying during a hot/humid period. WIFI is intermittent at sites, but better signal at the main office. We learned some lessons in our first visit, and we are going back again next year. read more

This year will be our 7th year camping here. The customer service is outstanding! It is clean and fun. We always stayed only 1 week but this year we are staying for 2. I have children and grandchildren that all come the same weeks. It is hard to get the kids to leave to go to Conway or anywhere else during our stay. We booked our one week vacation at Danforth Bay Purity Springs Resort the first week of April using their online website form which required a minimum deposit of $706 representing payment in full for the pull-thru full hookup 50 amp site including water,sewer, and electric. We got no further updates from them so we were shocked to learn when checking in that their water was contaminated with e-coli and unsafe to drink. We arrived during a heat wave with mid-90's temps and they told us we could buy spring water from their convenience store for $2.50 per gallon, about twice the cost of a gallon of spring water at the local Hannaford' market. That was the first "red flag" of coming revelations. Our big-rig pull thru site on the upper level was "tight" in our Tiffin Phaeton RV. We soon discovered high winds could occur without warning at any time so it was disconcerting when we noticed the adjacent site fire pit was only 8'2" from our coach. Their rules allow campers to build their campfire up to 24" above the rim of the fire pit so with high winds foreseeable I asked them to move the fire pit so it was at least 10' from my coach. When spending more than $100 per day for full hookups we expect trash containers to be conveniently situated a short distance from our coach. No trash containers were in the upper pull thru area and we had to drive 1/5th mile (we measured by our trip meter on the Jeep) and had to exit the gated community to simply get rid of the trash. On a positive note, the older facility has friendly and courteous staff and families in mid-size 5th wheel coaches and trailers did well with the facilities. For those who have large 5th wheel coaches or Class A coaches with slide outs, they would be well advised to seek more suitable facilities. It was frustrating that these folks were shameless in asking for a five star review when they took $700 up front as a one week deposit and never felt compelled to make the disclosure of the material fact their water was contaminated and unsafe.. For the money, there are far better alternatives. We will never return. read more

We love it here! Sites are large, and there is nice spacing between sites. The property is available for 4 season camping, and the waterfront sites are amazing. There are two lakeside beaches, and a nice variety of water sports including swimming, fishing and boating. You can rent kayaks, peddle boats and canoes. If you prefer pools to lakes, there are two large and one shallow pool for young children. Several cabins are available for rental if you prefer that over camping and RV. I'm kind of up and down on this place. My wife and I took our kids, (1, 4, and 6yo) for 8 days at the end of the off season. We had a good time and this place is actually pretty nice. It started off quiet, which I like, they have huge back in sites and with our 26' TT it leaves us a good amount of space. Site was clean, and even the picnic table didn't need a table cloth to feel ok eating at. This is a year round campground, but only one section is set up for the winter. Which is fine but we got stuck next to a old 5th wheel with a few people living full time in it. They were a bit rough. The section is right off the main road leading to the property and the people living there used this to their advantage. There is a key card to get in and he would walk the card to his friends out on the road so they could get in without anyone knowing. We asked to move to another site and the office was happy to let us move. The off season was nice due to the lack of people, and I imagine the regular season is really crowded. Not many young kids mostly 10 and up it seemed. It left my young kids bored at times. Most people were quiet and in their rigs by 10 and I have no complaints about too much noise. There were a huge amount of dogs. I don't think I've been at a place with this many dogs. Most were friendly except for the Rottweiler that the old 5th wheeler people had. My biggest complaint would be with the people drinking and driving their golf cars. Openly drinking while driving around. That is unacceptable. They have strict bicycle rules and if you break them it's a 3x you're out deal. They won't let the kids ride. (But drinking on the golf car is okay). They have a family room which was nice on rainy days. Their game room needs help. Even the games that work don't fully work. Kind of a waste of $. There is a 7mph Speed limit that gets totally ignored by 60% of the people there but maybe that's because it's the off season. The beach was nice and the main playground was clean. It would be nice if they put a bench or two for the parents who have to sit there. It may seem like I'm complaining a lot because I want to be clear about my experience, but I actually enjoyed my time. I am curious to know what it's like during the regular season when it's full of people. Hopefully I'll get to try again. read more

We have been coming here with a group of family and friends for about 7yrs now. WE LOVE IT HERE! The campground is huge. We rent a golf cart for taking rides around and it is a blast. They have two large pools- they are heated, but not to the 81 degrees they advertise but swim-able none the less. They have beaches too. Paddle board and kayak rentals. Plenty of themed activities for the whole family. Security keeps an eye on rowdy folks but not so much that you can't fully enjoy yourself. We really do love it here. Price is average for the area. Campground is very clean. Close to many white mountain attractions. Store is stocked with great selection. Snack shack can be slow but the food is always good. read more

Trust me lol As for the campground we have gone twice most recently in July of 2014. Theres a ton of stuff to do--pool. beach etc. Theres a snack bar at the pool which is great for lunch! We rented a golf cart for the weekend which was alot of fun and made getting around the campground ALOT easier--do it you wont be dissapointed! THe bathrooms were always clean ( metered showers though-make sure you bring more quarters in then you think you will need--murphys law dictates that the water will run out when you are covered in shampoo LOL) We stayed in a tent in the safari field. We stayed at The Bluffs which is the 50+ part of this resort. We were able to use both campgrounds but no one under 21 can use The Bluffs. Our site was large, level and mostly private. Hook ups were good and the place is pretty new, built around 2006. Very quiet and clean, mostly seasonal sites that were very neat. Glad we came and we will be back. read more

My family and I stayed here for a week in July and we loved it! There are so many activities for people of all ages. There are numerous activities everyday for kids and things such as games, movies, ice cream bars and more. It has its own hiking trails too. The campground has two pools along with the lake it resides on. We were able to rent a paddle board for a few hours because we didn't bring one. The spots are a good size and the bathrooms at the campground were clean. If you go, bring quarters for the shower. One quarter for 5 minutes, pretty reasonable. Love it here and will definitely be going back to tie dye more shirts! read more

This is a wooded campground with a nice pool, unfortunately 75% of campers have golf carts which have been driving by our campsite about a couple every minutes or so. I'm not sure I'd even call this place a campground. It was definitely one of the strangest "camping" experiences I've ever had. We were surrounded by people riding golf carts all over the place, huge groups of people partying surrounded by large piles of trash, and coin-operated pay showers (which I've never run into outside of the ultra-cheap national parks). It was an extremely noisy, not even close to "natural" experience...kind of like being dropped off in the middle of the city somewhere and it had a lot of strange rules for a campground. For instance, I've also never seen a place that limits how long you can have a campfire as well as feeling the need to police children on their bicycles by essentially giving them "tickets" and then revoking the bicycling privileges. (We didn't have bicycles but I've never heard of such an absurd rule, especially for the "Live Free or Die" state, that I thought it warranted a mention). The pros: The campground has a nice playground, our site was large, and the bathroom was clean. The cons: Everything else read more

We are excited that nothing has really changed. Danforth Bay continues to be a great camping experience. Clean, great activities, great staff. We never leave the grounds. Too much to do while at the resort. Love the fact security is very visible. No monkey business but good clean family fun. Food available at the "Shack" is very good. Worth every cent. When we arrived it was during a storm. We got lost trying to find it. Gps is wrong. Reservations should of told us that.. No signs to direct you. Oh we found one but it was past the turn..no sign before it or after the entrance.. The camp host, robin was very helpful. The gal at the window pointed my husband to drive to the bluffs to turn around.. I was in my car and he had the rig. So he got lost. Finally we got in and our sight was waaaaaay in the back. Very roomy and private, near the ball field and dog trails. Quiet too. It stormed all night. Erwin the next day but we went to the pools and had fun. 2 lg pools, one heated. Kiddie pool. Very clean. But..kids doing canon balls screaming! No one there to say anything to them. Would of loved an adult pool, I mean y not?? There is 2 huge pools. Maybe during certain times? I could swim without worrying if I will get jumped on. Men floating on big tubes drinking beer in the pool too.. Anyway, I asked them during reservation to charge my card in full before our arrival but they didn't.. So had to go back to office to deal w. That.. Not enough signs in this place, arrow signs to beachs the exit but which arrow sign? We spent more time getting lost.. .. On our way back we asked a camp host to lead us out and he just have us direcrions, then we got lost. They have street signs but there are not lined up right. Squam rd. ug frustrating.. read more
