Followed by the ricotta cavatelli (all handmade) with local mushrooms, salsa verde and parmesan. I was super excited about the salsa verde and wish I could've tasted it more. For dessert, I got to mix match and try with my hot date the squash cake with coconut ice cream and chocolate cremeux which was absolutely incredible! The common areas are quiet and stunning, each with a fireplace and either books to read or games to play. The whole house is beautifully decorated, has nice amenities, and is a close walk to the quaint downtown. We could not recommend this place enough whether you're looking to relax and unwind in your room and spaces or explore the outdoors in the beautiful surrounding area.

The biggest difference from what we normally do is that there was no TV or WiFi. It turned out we survived, nay, thrived without either. We drove around the historic and beautiful countryside, enjoyed a vegetarian breakfast each morning. We were given a bottle of Proseco the first night along with a bottle of home made rose brandy made by the matriarch of the family, that acted like a sleeping potion that night. It was delicious brandy made woth rose and lavender. The alpacas were a delight and I actually go to pet some and get some real closeups of these gentle creatures. Our room was rustic as all getout and incredibly clean and cozy warm. The farm is convenient to wineries, restaurants, historic New Bedford and some real beautiful lakes and woodlands. Believe me, by the time we got finished traveling around western CT all day, we just aout had the energy to go to dinner at some of the dozens of reataurants in the area (reviewed elsewhere). We plan on going back in some warmer weather so we can introduce our parrot to the alpacas. The only thing we missed this trip were the pot bellied pigs, which evedently don't take too well to the cold February temperatures and the snow.

It's a loft above a barn where the alpacas stay. This place is truly for someone who is low key and just wants to relax & enjoy nature. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the shower has hot water, the AC is pumping (in mid-July with a lot of humidity), and there are fresh towels when you arrive. Sal also has a recommendation for everything so be sure to ask him about his favorite local spots! One thing I wish we did was bring a cooler and beach towels. We went to Lake Waramaug for the day and we were not prepared. Otherwise our stay on the farm was unique and relaxing!! That's when the misinformation and dishonesty started. Despite the emergency and the fact that we did not cancel, we simply checked out early, the staff refused to process a refund for the final unused night without "manager approval." The excuse? A mysterious "no cancellation policy" they suddenly hid behind -- which makes no sense because we weren't canceling the stay, we were leaving due to an emergency. Instead of showing even basic human decency, they treated us like an inconvenience. They continued to argue that because I "didn't book directly with them," they couldn't help -- even though I booked directly through the official website. They just happen to use a third-party reservation platform, and apparently that gives them an excuse to hold your money hostage. This is deceptive at best, predatory at worst. And honestly, the room wasn't even worth fighting over. The Inn itself is essentially a collection of temporary modular buildings disguised as a boutique hotel. The property is poorly maintained, the beds were uncomfortable, and the overall experience did not match the price tag -- which was $255 per night. For that rate, I expected quality, hospitality, or at least professionalism. Instead, what we got was subpar accommodations and staff who were cold, dismissive, and completely lacking compassion or customer service. Bottom line: This place cares more about squeezing every dollar from guests than providing a safe, comfortable, or humane experience. If you need flexibility, basic respect, or even the slightest sense of hospitality, look elsewhere. There are far better options in the area -- don't waste your time or money here.
