September 13th I took my 2019 Ford F-250 for an oil change, they advised me to also have my fuel filters changed. 15 minutes after leaving the dealer my truck caught fire despite a trail of fuel from a massive leak, despite their multi point inspection the dealer claims they did nothing wrong, pictures attached so that the public can be the judge In Response to Tim C. Comments, they took the truck and would release it to the insurance company, what they did with it is unknown. - No wiring was required for 3rd party headlights - added picture of fuel leaking on fire were rest of truck is fine - thousands of social media responses have formed their own opinions for the world to see. Update 11-10-2019 Fire marshal report is in and references the fuel the leak as the cause. Expert has seen the findings and concluded headlights run less current than stock lights, use factory plug and play harness, have fuses in them that would have blown if a fire started there. Most importantly the concentration of fire is at the fuel pump while headlights are intact. read more

Parts, service and sales all fall short. Parts - the parts counter guy gets a commission on his sales. Everything is marked as high it can go so he gets more commission. I've been buying diesel DEF from Ford dealers across the country at an average of $26. Bought some at Lockhart Ford for $36 but won't be buying there again. I called some other dealers after this purchase to see if there had been some real world increase in prices but other dealers were still selling at about $26. Service - I've had some incredibly poor experiences with the service department that I've written about before. Earlier this month my 2017 F450 needed a new turbo under warranty. I was going camping for a week with my truck and agreed to bring the vehicle in at the end of the week. Before I left for the week I had the dealer do a full-synthetic oil change, at my expense of course. They didn't bother to mention that the turbo replacement scheduled for the end of the week would include an oil change. So, not only did I pay for an oil change the week before, but they changed the oil during the turbo replacement and used the less pricey non-full-synthetic. Sales - lots of smiles and "yes sir" thrown in but very lazy with pre-sale effort (on a truck I ordered and paid for before delivery) but very poor follow through after the sale. read more

I brought my vehicle in for service on 7/21/20. While waiting inside the dealership I witnessed an elderly veteran approached the finance mgr. who was engaged with helping another person. The fellow asked the finance mgr. if his battery was covered? That he had a low-battery notice & had concern. The finance mgr. assessing the situation asked if the gentleman had his vehicle there for service? To which he answered yes. Then the mgr. stated that he believed the low-battery notice was in connection to his key-fob battery & not the vehicle's battery, but that the service department would check that out & let him know. The elderly gentleman sat down, and I could not help but wonder how this would play out... After perhaps 10 minutes, the service writer came over to the customer & informed him that it was his key-fob battery that needed to be replaced, which had been done & assured him there were no further problems. Relieved, the gentleman arose, reaching for his wallet, asking what he owed them. The service-writer stated that there was no charge. The gentleman thanked him and they walked together back toward the service area. I had to smile. Thinking that I was so glad things worked out that way, thinking how appreciative I would be if that were my dad & I could know how kindly he was treated. It was my first experience with Lockhart Motors & I was favorably impressed. My vehicle was serviced in a timely manner, the fee was fair, and the overall experience was very positive. We had a mixed experience yesterday... The Good - * We got a fair deal on a 2018 Expedition (Grade - A) * Our salesperson Louis was attentive, knowledgeable and easy to work with. (Grade - A) *The manager James Grayson was great to deal with - good communication & sent additional pictures and videos to us (Grade A) * This is a family friendly business & atmosphere. Several of the kids and grandkids of employees were in the showroom. They were very well behaved & were not distracting or in the way. I always enjoy bringing my kids to my office and appreciate and enjoy this atmosphere. (Grade A+) The Bad - * The dealership does not accept bank drafts as payment for vehicles purchased. This means that you have to write them a check for your purchase or wait for your lender to issue physical cashiers check in order to drive off the lot. I've purchased 10+ vehicles from both large & small dealerships and have never encountered this. Very anticlimactic. We were able to compromise by showing the dealer our signed loan documentation and providing a copy of the cashier's check that was being sent from our lender. Shout out to UFCU for getting us our loan documents 15 minutes after getting the purchase order from the dealer - more on that below. (Grade - F) * We waited for and hour & a half after finalizing the deal for the purchase order to be faxed to our lender. This ultimately delayed our departure back to Austin to perfectly coincide with rush hour traffic. (Grade - F) * Credit manager TJ (nameplate on his desk says "I'm Kind Of A Big Deal"). My wife was born and raised in Austin and I've lived in Texas for 35 years. We both hunt and enjoy spending time in small TX towns and appreciate Texas hospitality. However, it's never a good idea to greet a woman in a business situation by saying "Hello young lady" - especially when you aren't much older than she is. (Grade F) * We told our salesman that we didn't want to play the car buying game. We told him up front exactly what we wanted to pay for the vehicle, and asked that he bring us their best deal the 1st time. After our salesman communicated that information with the credit manager TJ, we ended up playing the game after all - showing him another vehicle at another dealership for a better price. Only after this did we get their "handshake deal". (Grade F) Ultimately, this dealership had the vehicle we wanted and we got a fair price. However they need to modernize their process and show some respect for their customers in both the process of getting the deal done as well as their communication skills. read more
