Great service, and competitive rates when I exchanged for euros! But parking structure sucks and they couldn't validate because I'm parked on Hope side entrance rather than Figueroa even though they are both connected to the building! This is not their fault though. I learned after the fact they have reserved parking for their customers so please inquire ahead of time. I called ahead for them to reserve X amount of money for me, and it was there when I went to pick it up. Where do I start with this review? Endless searching for a currency exchange place, my friend from Mexico did some research on google and found this place for me. Located in the Los Angeles Trade Center building, it was super easy to find. Driving an hour away, google maps took me right where I needed to go, a small spot on the lower level. Parking was easy. Make sure to bring your parking ticket with you to have it validated by a staff member. My charge was only $2. I couldn't have been more happier today. Endless searching for a place to exchange my Egyptian pounds, I had no luck. Not even Egypt would accept their own currency. Banks or airports wouldn't even touch it. Exchanging a considerable amount, I was completely satisfied with my transaction. Asking about other currencies to be exchanged, there seems to be no problem. I know where I'll go for my next currency exchange when I run into trouble again. Hands down, this is by far the easiest and best place to exchange foreign currency. Customer service was awesome! Dynamic currency conversion. Foreign transaction fees. Buy and sell rates. It's always a job trying to get the best return on your USD. For the busiest travel year of my life, I tried FCE twice vs Bank of America's service. Shockingly this modest business offers very competitive rates vs the big bank when **buying**. Usually one or the other is slightly better; but BofA does charge a shipping fee. I'm not sure if they're as competitive when you're selling a foreign currency. BofA ofc doesn't buy back. Nothing but speedy service here. I've tried a 1-2 swap, and 2-1 swap as well. Never a wait here when I go first thing on a weekday morning. It always amazes me how fast the lady does the conversion in her head and "fixes" your USD in amount to get a cleaner out conversion. FCE is great if you're in a jam and need foreign dollars quickly. But best to inspect your bills for any tears before leaving. The conversion receipt provided isn't the most intuitive; but it's always been correct. p.s. I always struggle to get in and out of this building as a pedestrian. Definitely one of the most confusing layouts. So keep that in mind if you're on a schedule. read more

This place seriously never disappoints! I've been coming here for years and they always have the best exchange rate. I've gotten Korean won, Philippine peso, Mexico peso, Spain euro, etc. and they always had it on hand (the banks all have to order in advance so it takes a couple of days). It's a little hard to get to just because it's DTLA but I was literally in and out of there in 8 minutes (including finding parking, taking elevator, etc.) Park in the garage, go to level 1 and you should have no problems finding it. They validate so I didn't have to pay for parking (not sure what the time limit is though). No transaction fees! read more

It's in the name... Express! There was a bit of a line when I arrived, but that's to be expected from a well established and honest business. Once it was my turn, I was in and out in less than five minutes! I think it helped that I called ahead of time to place a hold on some currency. I was exchanging USD to JPY. Exchange on the market that day was 106 JPY to 1 USD. FCE's rate was 104 JPY to 1 USD. A modest 2% commission to stay in business. That's something I appreciated. I don't mind losing out on some money, that's how businesses work. What I DO mind are the extortionate rates the big banks were giving me. (BofA 100 JPY for 1 USD!) I had nothing but a positive experience here. Going in with 1000 USD and leaving with about 98% of what I went in with (104000 JPY), I didn't feel cheated. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the LA area. The less than optimal parking situation is more than made up for by the superb service and fair rates. I needed to buy Japanese yen for an upcoming trip, and this place had the best exchange rates I could find in LA. I called five other places in LA and they were quoting me between 94-99 yen for every USD. Foreign Currency Express gave me a better exchange rate and they also had LOTS of Japanese Yen on hand. I highly recommend calling ahead to make sure they have enough currency. Exchange rates change on a daily basis here. You can park at the World Trade Center, and they will validate for 12 minutes. 12 minutes is plenty of time. In addition, they have their own reserved parking spot for customers which is right next to the elevator. Look out for it! otherwise, you're doing loops in the parking structure which will waste precious time. read more

I used to trust this place but not any more. I called ahead to ask for Euros and they gave me what seemed like a good rate but classic bait and switch, the rate was not that great. Having driven to downtown already I got my Euros. Usually I get my parking validated but the lady at counter said I was good if I left garage within 12 mins. She was wrong. I got to exit at 10 min and I was gonna get charged $7. I went back hoping for free validation and instead I was told they would charge me $2 to validate. I told the lady I usually never have to pay for validation in the past with this company and I've been to this company several times in the past several years.
