I recently purchased a home and used Foresight Building Inspection at the recommendation of my realtor and I'm glad I took their recommendation! My offer was not the first accepted (the other offer couldn't get financing, so the seller accepted mine). I had the opportunity to use home inspection obtained from the other buyer. "What a great opportunity!", I thought. I could've saved hundreds of dollars on paying for my own inspection if I just used the one obtained by the other buyer. I got a copy of their report. It was done by a licensed inspector, and I didn't have any reason to believe they did a bad job.I'm an IT professional and have no idea what a good vs bad home inspection looked like. In the end, I decided to get my own inspection and I'm very grateful that I did! Sean @ Foresight found several issues that the other inspector did not. Nothing was a deal-breaker, but he pointed out several things that I need to have fixed if I'm to have a home in good repair for the long haul. We recently purchased our first home and to say it was nerve wrecking would be an understatement. To add to the stress we bought not one but two homes built in 1918. It is multi family lot with the front house having a crawl space and the back house on a slab. I was very picky about choosing the right inspector because I knew there could have been a lot of things wrong with the house. After speaking to Sean on the phone I knew he was the right guy because he himself lived in a a nearby old house so he was very familiar with them. Sean exceeded my expectations. He was beyond thorough and was more than willing to go over any aspect of the inspection in detail. Keep in mind that he is an inspector so by law he can't go into much detail on repairs and can only recommend that you seek professional advice from someone that specializes in that area. However he provided enough verbal information to read between the lines to determine if something needed to be addressed right away or would be fine for 10 years. I was very happy with Foresight Inspection. We are buying an old house and every bit of information helps so that we can anticipate costs that are likely to occur now or down the road. Foresight has a good philosophy in conducting a thorough inspection as if you plan to move in that day. I called a few places, but Sean Kinney quickly changed his schedule to fit our time frame, and met us at the home in less than 3 hours after my phone call.
