Cute, Brooklyn style restaurant with casual bar chair seating and open kitchen to see the chefs in action. Although this is what we in Sweden refer to as a 'back pocket' to Forest Avenue, visiting a Friday or Saturday the only options will be their five course tasting menu. So set your expectations accordingly!
Started with a lovely poster bread and butter with hint of what we thought was cheddar. Next was small quinoa crackers with goat cheese; crispy and airy with creamy pieces of cheese. And then the actual starter. My friend chose the foie gras tart with smoked I think canard, and I had their smoked salmon. It was both delicious and pretty.
For main we both went with the fish which was good but not necessarily memorable. But what dragged the experience down was the service. Our waitress had little patience to wait for us finishing each course, and was running in to grab the plates and serve us the next course. Nor was she interested in listening to our orders and came out with an extra glass of wine when we only ordered one, and next we see her pouring it back in the bottle.
If it wasn't for her, and the fact that the table we sat at was too low (or chairs too high), this would have been a five. Luckily, our last fifteen minutes a lovely French waitress took over our table and her Amelie-like smile and attentiveness is what we'll choose to remember. read more
