My first experience with Forest Home Auto Body was nearly twenty years ago, when my high school boyfriend rear-ended a car right in front of their building - while we were skipping school! I would have called my parents in tears, but we were 18 and tried being grown-ups about it so we pulled in, needing his hood fixed ASAP. Since then, when they saved us with quick, affordable service, I've always taken my car to them! Now married (to someone else), FHAB always manages to get our vehicles in and out quickly and dependably. They've got the sweetest dog and a little activity table with trains and Legos in the waiting area, which my kids love, but they're always disappointed to only play a little while because they're so efficient! We just had an issue with the automatic open on our minivan trunk door, which they repaired about a year ago. I brought it in and they repaired it super fast and free of charge! I highly recommend this family owned business. The process went so smooth and they are a pleasure to work with. Let's face it, dealing with a vehicle needing repair is a huge hassle and something none of us really wanna have to go through! If I am in need of any body work I know where I will go. I have used this place twice for autobody work and will share a little info on both experiences. The first time I brought in my car because a window was smashed an the stereo was stolen. The dashboard heating controls were smashed to take the stereo. I am fully insured and this place was close to where I live so I took it here. Walking in the office you are greeted by a friendly old dog. The lady at the desk was very nice and sympathetic. She handled everything and got he paperwork from my insurance provider. She called me two days later to let me know that my car was ready. My car had been completely cleaned inside and that was nice. The window was repaired and the dash fixed. The vacuuming and carpet cleaning were a pleasant surprise. My complaints from the first time are that my other window was vandalized as the criminals attempted to pry it off and this wasn't repaired at all. Ever since this repair it has been hard to tell what setting the AC controls are on, probably because the LEDs are no longer lined up. When I first started my car a check engine light came on so I went back in an had them check it. The mechanic said it was probably nothing and reset it. The second time I brought my car there was for a similar repair. A different window was smashed and the stereo was taken, breaking the dashboard console. They had my car for four days and called me to say it was done. I was out of town so couldn't pick it up for two more. When I picked it up it was again completely vacuumed and carpet cleaned. The window was replaced well. This time they didn't repair the dashboard console. Nothing functional was broken, but the defrost button can hang off the console. It isn't a huge deal, but I am fully covered for this sort of thing and they didn't repair it. It was probably not replaced because it is a lot of work for a small thing. Even though the customer service is great, I probably won't go back because I don't have time to waste taking my car to an autobody twice for one problem. read more

I went into forest home auto body after my car (300zx) had been broken into and they smashed out the rear glass. I wanted to get a quote to figure out how to fix that and get a detail of what the service would involve. Quote was reasonable and they said they would work with me to keep the price down. I was told they could not source any glass & I would have to drive to 300 miles each way to Illinois with no window to get the glass to replace because they could not arrange shipping with supplier. Kinda baffled on that but I'm going to assume it was because they gave me a low price and shipping would spike that price. They said that they would use NEW generic molding\weatherstripping to put the glass in. I said fine, that's great, let's get this done. I drove, got the glass, and dropped the car off for repair after the 600 mile trip. I pick up the car and the old moulding is glued to the window and installed with large gaps. I complained about the install directly on pick up. The answer was "we ran out of generic moulding and figured you wouldn't mind" otherwise they said they would have had to buy new from the dealer for $600+. The gaps were excessive with a large gap in the middle top and around the lower corners about of half inch away from the body. You could see the adhesive they used underneath to seal the window on. I let them know that I was not happy and this was not what we discussed. They made it clear they were not going to redo the work based on my price, I would need to pay more. I did my part driving for hours and the lack of communication basically left me very disappointed. No one asked me to approve the change or if I wanted to opt for new weatherstripping in light of the change, they just did it sadly. I gave 3 stars because the window didn't leak and they didn't shatter it. Their price wasn't bad, but I couldn't stand to look at the window edges anymore. Mistakes happen, I firmly believe the lady who took my info got busy and forgot. That's why I'm not holding it against them and one starring them. Get your work in writing down to the last detail on the invoice. They do good work, just avoid miscommunication by getting it written out. I'd return based on the general gut feeling this was an honest mistake and they were trying to work with me from the beginning. Very few companies even try to help nowadays so it's worth something in my book. read more

Seriously some of the best people out there for car repair! I had an icicle damage my roof. I took it in for repair, and with my insurance it was totally covered. They also helped me with getting a rental car. Recently, I took my car in for some minor cosmetic repairs: bumper fixing and getting some scratches buffed out. They were prompt with an estimate and very friendly over the phone in setting up the appointment. Debbie is a great front office person! Forest Home Auto Body found me an affordable replacement and had my window repaired in under an hour - they even cleaned my car from all the broken glass. These guys are great! I have never been so excited to leave a review, so here it goes. I was involved in a car accident where a young driver ran a red light and smashed into my newly bought 2016 Toyota Camry. To say that I was pissed would be an understatement. After speaking to that driver's insurance agency I knew I would be having them foot the bill. To get started, I knew I had to find an auto body shop to do the work. After Googling, "Best Auto Body Shops in Milwaukee," I came across this very Yelp page in regards to this company. I also saw some Google reviews and thought, 'why not?', so I called. The voice on the other end was so polite and caring. Her name was Debbie. I asked if I could come in tomorrow and bring my car in and she stated that sure I could and we booked an appointment during my lunch hour. Anyway, I go in the next day and they do a quote and it literally takes them 15 minutes. After, I speak to Debbie and she gathers my information, she let me know that she could get me in in 10 days and that it would take about 4 days to get my car back. When 10 days came, I did finally arrive to drop off Vanessa (yes, my car's name is Vanessa), Debbie had made sure that I had a comparable rental car ready for me which was a 2017 Hyundai Sonata (which is a good car if you are thinking about getting a new vehicle). Long story short, Debbie called me on day 5, not the 4 as estimated, but that was no fault of theirs - it was Toyota's so I didn't care to let me know that Vanessa was ready. When I went to go pick up my car it was waiting for me in the front and OMG! I went to go look at it and I damned near cried because it looked as if I never had been hit. I was so excited and giddy. What they did at Forest Home CarStar was pull off a miracle and I told Debbie and her daughter that they don't have auto body experts back there in the garage, they have MAGICIANS. There was one minor hiccup where my front turn signal lights didn't work, but it was because the specialists forgot to put back in the fuse. I was able to call right away and Debbie told me to come in and they were able to get it fixed in about 5 minutes. These people stand by their work, and their techs. I swear I'm glad this place exists in Milwaukee. To sum it up, the individuals at CarStar work hard, they care about their customers, and they get you the results you are expecting. This was my first time ever getting into a car accident and Forest Home CarStar made sure that my experience would be as pleasant as possible as far making sure that they got my baby girl back in tip top shape. This small business knows what it means to treat the customer with respect which is something that you don't see in most businesses today. I've used car star twice in 4 years. 1st time was on my $, hit and run driver damaged my vehicle. service was reasonable, went with car star due to USAA recommendation. 2nd time was an AMFAM driver hit my parked car. AMFAM is absolute garbage to work with. Repairs were good, time from drop off to fix was 12 calendar days. the reason for less than 5 stars is I found my front license plate removed, and left loose in my backseat. No mounting hardware to be found. the repair was two doors, so, I'm questioning why my license plate was removed in the first place. that is really the only gripe. folks were nice, communication was great. would send business their way again. read more

I was referred to Forest Home Carstar by my insurance as it was near my house, but I think I found a lifelong body repair shop. This family owned business is everything you want in your small, independent, neighborhood shop. Debbie, who's been there for decades, is the master of customer service and makes you feel like an old friend. The work was quality and professional. These guys are outstanding. I am new in the area so picked them based on insurance company recommendation. Got into an accident in the morning, filled a claim with insurance company right after and ended up at their shop for a rear bumper change on my SUV. My work schedule gets pretty crazy so apart from that one day, it would have been difficult to find time to get my car fixed. They were very accommodating with my requests. I had also asked to get my car cabin filter replaced if possible. Not only they got right on it, but they drove me to a rental car company the same day. I received a call saying my car was ready at 4 pm on the same day. I dropped off the rental car and picked up my car. They had changed a bumper and replaced the cabin filter as well. i do not recommend this facility for auto body repair. Family oriented what a joke the owner never took care of her mother for years. Never could even contact her, never sent her mother a mothers day card or Christmas card. But instead she called in complaints to various state agencies claiming that her mother was being abused and neglected, yet she never even visited her mother. Now mother is in a nursing home, and the owner still makes complaints to state agencies without even talking to the people first and foremost. When I had a car repair done, the repair had to to be done by someone over again because the job was poorly performed. The insurance company was not satisfied with their job performance and encouraged me to find some other business to take auto body repairs too. read more

Best service I've ever received! Debbie was beyond helpful. She handled everything from my rental car, to dealing with the insurance and she even gave me a goodie bag! To my surprise my car was fixed better than perfection, it was detailed and washed, and I got a forest home auto body bag with coffee mug, etc! I took my car to Deery Brothers Collision Center for a fairly minor fender bender, and was absolutely delighted with the results. The car looks better than it has since it was new! The appraisal process was quick and easy, thanks to Kevin. Chad and the repair and painting team did an outstanding job on the damaged areas, and returned the car to me sparling clean, shiny, and a day ahead of schedule. I took my Toyota Camry to this business to see about repairing a small amount of surface rust where the paint had been scraped off last fall by a piece of travel luggage. The person I talked to would not even look at the car stating only that they generally steer clear of rust. So much for customer service, since the car was one of two purchased new from the Dan Deery Toyota dealership across the street from the collision center. The poor service also does not square with website claims that they can repair just about anything no matter how big or small. read more
