The atmosphere is nostalgic and familiar with a modern twist. The store preserved it's woodgrain look with classic German decor while maintaining a quality establishment. The fresh meat and food they serve deserves its own review. The hot dogs and sausages are out of this world and are great for parties. The brat burgers are always fresh and taste great. What an absolute gem of a store! I know many people come here for the meats, but we need to talk about its imported section. There are many many European goods to choose from: crackers, candies, teas, beers, and all reasonably priced. I walked away with some packs of instant porridge and German Rusks for about $9 which is not bad considering import costs! The staff is also very kind. The store and parking lot are both spacious, so feel free to peruse for a while! read more

The Forest Pork Store has been a tradition in my family my entire life. My grandparents shopped at the Ridgewood location and after moving to Long Island I shop at Huntington Station. The wursts and specialty foods remain unchanged from the memories I have of going there as a child with my Grandpa. Excellent, high quality selections. Have never purchased anything subpar. FANTASTIC German butcher. What are you waiting for? I absolutely love this place. I don't say that too often. I just recently found this store and was thrilled. I've had many of the wursts and other meats. The Weisswurst is a favorite of mine having had this in Munich and many other villages in Germany. Forest Porks Weisswurst is fantastic and very authentic. Make sure you also try the Krainerwurst smoked sausage. A family favorite are the smoked pork chops. Truly amazing! This is the best True German pork store around. Their meats and imported German delicacies , hence also "deli" make this a store to put on your holiday wish list. Peter the owner and the rest of the staff are great! The food and selection is awesome and it just really reminds me of an old fashioned friendly neighborhood deli. Warning: If you're coming on a Friday before a grilling or bbq weekend like 4th. of July be prepared to wait because sometimes the line will go out the door, and rightly so. My ONLY negative is that every time I go in I end up spending far more then I want to! I'll go in for 2 bratwurst and the counter person will ask me "Is that it?!" And just like that, it becomes not it! I end up adding in 2 Weisswursts, 2 Krainerwursts, 2 Knockwurst, and a one inch thick slab of Liebercasen. But in the end it's worth it. We were immediately greeted when we entered the shop. Everything was so organized and clean! They have so many options for their chocolate, mustards, breads, and shelf items. And their meats and sausage selection was huge! I bought fricadellen (meat patties) that were super tasty; I warmed them up later and ate them with some light rye bread. The knackwurst, weisswurst, and wieners are the family favorites and we were not disappointed at all. We ordered about 5-6 of each so we could each have our own to try. We also had a container of the German potato salad with bacon pieces sprinkled on top. Very fresh. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and informative. I think his name was Peter. The store itself is like walking back in time in the best way possible. The store is immaculate, it shines. There is a huge assortment of imported goodies. It's like stepping back in time and having a butcher - A REALLY GOOD BUTCHER - in your town as your only source of meat and supplies. We stopped in to get some Brats. A recent trip to Germany had us craving for them. Well, needless to say we left with Brats and just about everything else in the store... Steak, marinated steak, sauerkraut, schnitzel, delicious mustard, sauerbraten seasoning, beer ... hot chocolate all kinds of things! The service is amazing...
