While we were gone she would check in once a day with texts to notify us she had visited the house and that the cats were ok. Angie is very professional and it's so nice to be able to go out of town and know that the kitties have been well taken care of. I live in downtown Chicago, and the drive out to Arthur, IL took just under 3 hours. I had no cell phone reception when I got to the area, so make sure you have the exact address and directions to the residence before you get there. Upon arrival, Kevin greeted us at the door with the most beautiful little gal in the world! Pure breed, yellow labrador retriever, looking very healthy, beautiful coat color, well fed, and warmed up to us almost immediately. Kevin had me fill out some paperwork, transfering ownership, a 1-year health guarantee, canine registration form, as well as a canine health record that showed vaccinations and de-worming schedules to date. He gave us a small bag of dog food as well, so we could continue to use this as we transition to a new formula and get the puppy acclimated to our environment. We had Cockers for years and really loved them. Talking to Laurel, we decided to order a Maltipoo (not even bred yet). She had such extensive knowledge about every breed she has that we both felt this was a better choice for us. She is so VERY careful with her breeding schedules that the pup would not be available for a few months. If she ran a puppy mill, she would have at least tried to talk us into a puppy she had available right then. Our puppy was born later so we went to see her and she was darllng! When she was old enough, we picked up the little bundle of white fur. She was perfect. Smart, affectionate...just what we wanted. She had been vet checked, given first shots, microchipped, etc. Laurel made sure I knew how to care for her, gave me a generous supply of food to last until I could get some for her. We never had any health problems because Laurel knows about all the possible problems and has the pups checked to know they are OK when they leave her home. We got along great until my precious baby was 4 1/2 years old. She got out into the dead-end lane in front of our house, was hit by a truck and my worst fear happened. She didn't suffer, but I did! I searched for rescue Maltipoos and Maltese, but people don't rehome Maltese often because they are so wonderful. I called Lauren (I was crying for Beatrice and so was Lauren) but she had 2 Maltese girls from her last litter. Again, the puppy was perfect and helped fill that hole in my heart. We also have 2 older rescue dogs and my new baby loved them. Sometimes too much. They would rather sleep than play sometimes, so now we have 2 darling litter-mate girls that are cousins to the baby I lost; they have the same grandmother Beatrice had. I even see some of her mannerisms in them. They entertain themselves and us with their antics and our older dogs get their sleep in. My sister also lost her dog to old age about the same time we lost Beatrice and ended up getting a Cavapoo from Lauren, too. She is perfect for my sister. Someone on this website made a comment that she thought Lauren had a puppy mill, but there must be more behind the story because nothing could be further from the truth. Lauren is very careful with her breeding program, retiring her breeding dogs when they reach an appropriate age, Her dogs have good food, recreation, love, room and a place to run and enjoy the outside, and are well cared-for. She always has dogs in her home with her. NOT ONE DOG is forced to spend their lives in tiny cages with little food or water and no recreation. I know this because I went to her farm to see for myself before I would get a dog from her. Anyone who thinks differently is sadly mistaken. I have fostered dogs for an animal rescue near me for several years and have seen dogs that come from those terrible places. I won't go into any details, but I have shed tears just seeing how hey have been so extremely mistreated. I have told many people about Dreamcatcher Hill and will continue to do so because I don't think anyone could be more concerned about their animals and the homes they are going to than Lauren at Dreamcatcher Hill. Sorry this is so long, but I had to let everyone know that though I'm not a close personal friend of Lauren's, I feel privileged to have found someone who cares so much about their puppies so I can have such smart, well-bred companions!

They have very good prices for the services. They only do services on certain days and times but remember that many are volunteers. Its not a vet clinic. Some people seem confused about this. I heard some people complain that they couldnt get checkup vet services. -That's not what the APL is for. They mostly do sheltering, spay and neutering, ,vaccinations, and treating parasites. they also do microchiping for a good price. Recently their buildings were destroyed by a tornado and I hope that they get back up and running soon because they offer a lot of services to the community including catch and release neutering/spaying of feral and community cats.

A person will be informed if s/he is acceptable as an adoption candidate. Further, that adoption approval is not permanent, there is an end date about four months out or so. Although I understand their desire to screen people, I wish they could develop a less "encountering" method. Further, it believe it would be helpful were some customer service training be initiated. Given the one star ratings, I can only assume the majority of the people's interaction with TAPS is an off-putting experience. That said, they do take good care of the animals. The dog I adopted from TAPS was at their shelter for years and was with a foster family before I adopted her. She's a Staffy at 51.8#'s of well-behaved love. It's obvious TAPS took good physical and mental care of her. And in defense of TAPS' uber-caution, my dog is attractive and could well get adopted by someone who isn't able to manage her.

Rather than operating in home readiness and preparedness post approval, it is a First Come First Serve basis. Which, for a No Kill Shelter? Seems to be a relatively poor processing style. No understanding of when the visit is scheduled if I can leave with my new companion that same day, nothing. I have an extra large yard with a beautiful 6-ft privacy fence. Immediately, the administrator told me I was lying and I didn't have a fence. She was looking at old mapping that was on the internet. When I bought my house. I put the fence up immediately for my dogs. I ended up sending her the invoice voice from when I purchased and installed the fence. Then she came up with another untruth saying that I was bad-mouthing the shelty rescue on Facebook. What had happened was she got this little dog in and she told me I was approved for the adoption and I was ready to pick her up when then she decided to spring it on me that the dog was heartworm positive. I had never had a heartworm positive dog so I asked my Facebook friends, many of them who were Sheltie owners, what I needed to know about taking in a heartworm positive dog. The administrator had a fit and said that I was bad mouthing her which I never did. She pulled the plug on my adoption for no reason whatsoever after I had made plans to receive this pup the next day. It was very sad because the little dog needed a good home and I provide such an excellent home for my shelties. And will never deal with Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue again... Unless they have a different administrator. So sad when she had no reason to do any of this.
