I got my dog Piper here two days ago. The staff here are very friendly and the place is clean-ish. I don't expect it to be spotless and it seems more like a lack of funding then a lack of cleanliness. Piper is an amazing dog, the whole family loves her. That being said, I paid the adoption fee plus a fee to keep her collar .... and then sn additional fee. .... For the vet to treat the kennel cough that they didn't tell us she had. I understand that dogs get sick and in no way would it have stopped me from adopting her but it wasn't ok to withhold her helth information. I shouldn't been informed of her illness upfront. I am especially grateful that she's our only dog to prevent the illness from spreading.

I adopted a kitten from here 10 years ago who is the most loving cat and very healthy as well. I have been here multiple times since to see cats and dogs. They seem to truly care about their animals and they are all very friendly. I would definitely come back here if I decided to adopt more pets, which I plan to do in the near future.

I hope our tax dollars don't pay for this, because the service is ridiculous. I had a rescue cat…read morebite through both my thumbs at the beginning of the weekend. Obviously I couldn't get a hold of them till Tuesday, but I submitted a report that next morning at the hospital. I finally called them told him where the cat was what happened they said they don't catch cats that I have to catch it myself. I said, catch it myself it bit through my thumbs, I tried. She said well we don't catch them! I said well she's just gonna sit outside then because I can't catch her and I'm not letting her in with my eight-year-old daughter. I waited for a response and she had already hung up. So I go and purchase a wire pet carrier and leather gloves to catch her with with my own money, I called them back and this time a guy answers, and he says oh you caught her OK we can get him get her but if you wanna turn her over it's gonna be $50 I said OK can I just pay that over the phone? and he said no we don't take payment payments over the phone or cards. I was like all I have is cash, he said OK we'll talk about that in person. I'm like what the heck! so I have to catch the animal myself pay to do all of that risk my own safety after already being injured then I still have to pay them, but only in cash. Feels a lot like extortion. (UPDATE): A guy showed up to pick her up, collected the cash, had me fill out another form. Took the cat in the carrier to his vehicle. I told him just keep her in it, he can keep it. He didn't do that, he tried to get ahold of her in the middle of the road with big gloves on and in a large dog sized carrier she was in. So she climbed up his gloves, scratched the shit out of him, then ran off. He then came and gave me the 50$ back, said he was gonna get some traps and come back. I swear I couldn't make this stuff up guys.

My family and I had been searching for a new companion after my beloved dog passed away in November…read more2024 from cancer. I happened to stumble across a dog named Finneas through Foster Pet Outreach on PetFinder that I absolutely fell in love with. I immediately filled out the adoption application, and even though their application states they typically prefer adopters to be within a certain distance from them, I took a chance (we live in Wisconsin) and within a day I received a response. I got in contact with Finneas' foster mom (who was very responsive and sweet!) We drove down that week to meet him, and the staff was very helpful and answered all our questions, had all of his vet records available and even provided us some essentials to go home with. Two months later he is the best addition that I could have ever asked for. Overall, we had an amazing experience with this rescue, and I highly recommend!

While talking to the rescue folks I uttered the fateful words "you know, I always thought I'd like to foster..." and that's all it took. They knew a sucker when they saw one. I'm happy to report, dozens of successfully placed fosters and five more foster fails later, I am living my best life. You'll see a few negative reviews here for FPO and I can truly understand, as it can be very disappointing when an adoption doesn't work in your favor. To that I can only respond that as an organization placing dogs whos previous owners have abandoned, neglected and/or abused them, we have to be highly selective in our placements. The animals in our care have already been failed once, twice and sadly, sometimes multiple times. Choices have to be made and because the animals cannot speak for themselves, we have to speak for them and try hard to match their needs to the adopter. And when a particular animal has multiple qualified applicants, someone will always be disappointed. Most are mature enough not to write a bad review because they weren't chosen. The organization runs on only volunteer efforts and donated funds. We lose money in every adoption because we spend extensively on vetting to get the animals in the best health they can be to go to their new homes. Our contract - which every adopter signs - states upfront our fees are non/refundable-which is the standard in the industry. And to Tim B, there was definitely a miscommunication. When you told us of your several upcoming trips and how you wouldn't be ready for a few more weeks/months to adopt, we took that to mean that while you were interested in the dog, you had other previous plans which understandably took priority over the adoption. Like you, we absolutely want what is best for the animal, in fact, it guides our every choice. You'll be happy to know this particular dog found a wonderful home. They also had vast experience with special needs dogs and even better, were ready to adopt at that time.
