This place made me wait and then sent the dumbest technician I have ever met. I had to operate his…read moretablet for him and repeatedly point out that the information he was looking for wasn't on the unit's label while he constantly told me he wasn't very familiar with Lennox systems, even though I called them because they are a Lennox dealer. I ended up having to help him through checking everything. I eventually got an "estimate" that included overpriced repairs that cost as much as replacing the unit. It had a digital "signature" on it that just was the tech writing NA. I never actually signed anything. Nothing they sent me mentioned anything about late fees, but considering I was done with this company and couldn't get them on the phone reliably to pay I mailed a check. The check was never cashed, and I tried calling a couple times over the last year. Now almost a year later they email me telling me I have a years' worth of late fees because they never cashed the check. I finally was able to call during the day (not always easy for me). I got a person who again told me the person I needed had already left for the day. I told them if they wanted to be paid they needed to take the card over the phone right now. She agreed. Then told me the current balance. I refused to pay the late fees and told them I would authorize only the original balance. She put me on hold while she checked and then blind transferred me. The person answered like they had no idea who I was. I explained the situation again (very frustrating) and he knew exactly who I was and already had the information. He stated they have several ways to pay, except apparently those ways aren't check since I tried that. And none of the mailed "invoices" I received provide any payment information, terms and conditions, or anything but the current balance and how many days late it was. Just "Past Due - Please Remit" and an address along with a return envelope. But I had already tried that. This person claimed to be willing to take the payment, but when I rejected the late fees he claimed he needed to investigate and would get back to me. I told him I am not available during the day and he scoffed at me. I gave him one final chance to accept the payment without late fees right then or I was going to stop even attempting to pay as my life doesn't revolve around a waste of time diagnostic service with a technician that didn't know what they were doing. It shouldn't be this hard to pay them. The late fees should have never existed if they just cashed the check I sent or had ever provided me with payment instructions. other than "Please Remit", a return envelope, and an address. I will never use these people again. Everything with them is a clown show. Can't get straight answers, can't get things properly diagnosed. Can't get trained people. Can't even pay their bill. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

He was working with their plumbing specialist via phone camera to look over everything physical, as he is a HVAC technician - which he was tremendously, tremendously knowledgeable. Basically, Aundrey came here for less than one hour and cleaned the dust off the the coils of both of my air conditioners for $650 and didn't even complete the job. He did not have a wet/dry vac so he used mine. He did not bring a ladder so he used mine. He did not provide replacement filters. Breakdown of the cost: From the invoice- 'Service call fee covers technician's trip to the job site, including travel time and transportation costs.' I asked Aundrey where he came from. He said from the office which is right here in Newton. 2.6 miles. 8 minutes. = $150 First Air Conditioner: He diagnosed it immediately. Then he cleaned the coils with a brush and he used my vac as well. Look, I have no problem with him using my equipment. I just never had a worker not have his own tools. I had already bought a new filter for this air conditioner so he didn't have to replace it. Total time, about 15 minutes. = $250 Second Air Conditioner which is in the attic. There is nothing in the attic but the air conditioner unit and we do not go up there ever. You need a ladder to get up there. Aundrey didn't have one. He used one of mine. Same problem. Also, This unit needed a new filter as well and it's a different size than the one downstairs. Aundrey left it without a filter and gave me the size of the filter I should get so that I can install it myself. Again, I can't get up in the attic because I'm physically limited. So my air conditioner is currently running right now with no filter. So, he cleaned the coils for about 20 minutes and left the job undone. = $250. Invoice: $150 Travel Time and Transportation costs. $250 Coil Cleaning and installing a filter that I provided. $250 Coil Cleaning and leaving the unit without a filter _________ $650 Oh, and this nonsense about them getting back to you in 10 minutes, it's an automatic text that tells you to call them. I called after I didn't hear from them for an hour or so. That's a big sum when Aundrey took an hour total including his drive time of 8 minutes and the gas he must have used to go 2.6 miles and then not finish the job while using my tools.

I'm somewhat handy, and if I was not, I would have been taken advantage of even more. Here's my story: **Incident 1:** It all started when my AC unit broke down during a heatwave. I had a newborn at home, so I needed help fast. Despite being on the pricier side ($500 for the visit), they were the only ones available quickly. The technician "fixed" the issue and tried hard to sell me a brand-new unit--despite the fact that my current one was still functioning. I brushed it off as a sales tactic. However, when the weather turned cold, I realized my **heat wasn't working**. I'm a bit handy, so I took a panel off to inspect the unit, and what do I find? The **gas line had been turned off at the panel**! It's important to note that the heater worked just fine before this service, so the only possible culprit was the technician. Had I not caught this myself, I would have likely been convinced that the entire system needed replacing--costing me even more money. **Incident 2:** Later, I did end up getting a new HVAC system (from a different company). However, my diverters (which control airflow) stopped working, blowing a fuse. Once again, no one else was available, so I had to call Alborz again. I was skeptical after last time, but thought maybe it was possibly an accident... This time, I was on high alert and watched him closely. He fiddled around and had me go check the thermostat downstairs while he "worked on the unit." Reluctantly, I complied. Sure enough, when summer arrived, **the AC stopped working again**. **Proof of Sabotage:** After some investigation, I discovered the technician **deliberately disconnected a wire** in my unit, which is why the AC wasn't working. I have photographic proof showing the disconnected wire and the work area, demonstrating this malicious action. --- **Final Warning:** It's clear to me this company has a pattern of **sabotaging equipment to generate more business**. These aren't simple mistakes; they're calculated actions designed to mislead homeowners into believing their systems need more work or replacement than is necessary. All seemed knowledgeable but Spectrum Heating and Cooling was the clear choice for two reasons: first, the price for a top-tier brand was roughly $6,000 less than second-tier brands at the others. Second, Joe, the owner, was personable, transparent, and clearly honest. He was the only one, for example, who first checked into the cost of replacing parts for my old system before proposing a new one. He was also the most consistent about following up. Two of his competitors with the most expensive bids had fewer years of experience than Spectrum yet they dropped the ball on communications, forgetting to provide estimates on deadline. To me, this spoke to possible issues down the line with reliability. Joe answered all of my (many) questions, followed up with a timely proposal, and followed through with a quick, easy, hassle-free installation. This company may be smaller and less flashy than his competitors but I suspect the reason he doesn't need to be so aggressive in advertising is that he is so professional and competitive in his pricing that he wins customers based on great word of mouth.
